    Winds will determine which runway is in use. This is because you will want to take off and land into the wind as much as possible. This training goes into more detail on how this works. Learn to fly today!

    This made life so simple the only positive addition would be to add the calculations but hey I am a bit slow so it took me a while to put it all together... but excellent explanation

    Just started learning ,how does the wind effect left turn patterns ? With one runway I can not see any video that shows the patterns for fly in /landing with wind in both directions of the runway ?

    What does "wind from" mean? Like "from the north", is that from the north heading south?

  • @jeshua04

    what if the winds are coming perfectly perpendicular to the runway, ex. 160@5 (or 340@5) for runways 07/25

    Great explanation, does air traffic control suggest the best runway for you?

    • @joshuac2594

      I think it depends on the airport. A busy airport you will be vectored in to a certain approach for a particular runway, but for untowered runways (no atc) where there are only two sides to land, you just check the wind

      @@joshuac2594atc tells yoy which runway to take of for example. "Clear to take off 03L " depends on where the wind is going since they have to take off in a headwind

    How do you determine which direction to use the compass which determines the wind direction ? In this example, the runways do not align with the compass.

    If there is one runway, 09 & 27
    When the wind is in 270⁰ or 90⁰ which runway we choose?

    • @scotthall8723
      @scotthall8723  Před rokem

      When the wind is 270°, it means it's blowing in from the West so you take runway to 27 likewise for when come again from the East at 90°, you would take runway 9

    Many runways around the world are positioned to weather-climate wind-patterns for a specified length (old school fengshui search for ideal location for runway before deciding on airport). Find the wind, surf down.

    Landing and Takeoff with 2 direction of runway whether if affect to the left-turn or right turn on traffic pattern?

    • @scotthall8723
      @scotthall8723  Před 2 lety

      How would you know if an airport or runway has right-turn patterns? It will be marked on the VFR sectional, the A/FD, and if the airport has it, the traffic pattern indicator located around the windsock.

  • @jasonMB999
    @jasonMB999 Před 2 lety

    Your runway labelling is incorrect. It should be as follows Like this👇🏿.
    27-----------------------09
    Don't change the compass.

    • @scotthall8723
      @scotthall8723  Před 2 lety +1

      Think of it this way if you got on runway 09 which is 90°, you would be facing East and if you got on runway 27 what's your short for a 270 degrees you would be facing west. The heading indicator lines up with the runway numbers and the compass as well
