    I've found some really good success with my base-neo Singleton cube with the following rule variants:
    1) You only draft the highest stage evolution and get each Pokemon in the line below it automatically after the draft when you get basic energy.
    2) We don't play with prize cards, Each player just has 6 prize counters. I don't have any cards that refer to prize cards so it works very well to boost consistency for stage 2s not getting prize locked

    Love your cube! I actually built a singleton mutant evolution cube a few years back, centered around gen 4 power level with lv.X's and the primes from HGSS being the big bomb Pokemon. I was never quite happy with how Pokemon prints their cards though, so I actually created an entirely custom card set designed to make up a mutant cube, which also had some slight rule changes. If you'd like to see it let me know and I can link you :)

    What do you recommend as to amount of cards for a 4 player cube? Keep in mind I haven't built a cube ever, and I'm going to be using mostly Base to Gym Leaders (OG), back from 2001. I just found my card binder and this seems like a good idea! :)

    quick question on the 180 pokemon for a 360 cube. what will be the ratio for a stage 2 line up and stage 1 line up. cause im like having a hard time lining up the numbers to be that since i plan to have every type. the cube i am planning to build is a standard rotation cube

    What would be a good size and process for a more intimate two-player draft cube? Or is the point of a draft cube more players? I'm new to drafting but my boyfriend enjoys it, so I'd like to do it with Pokemon.

    Hey I have an idea for a 200ish singleton card cube for 4 people composing of all cards from the first three sets (Im not a genwunner, I jost like stuff being complete), with energy cards on the side and I thought of letting each player use 4 colourless energy. Would this make games slow or still good?

  • @brandonfoxx83
    @brandonfoxx83 Před 4 lety +4

    Yooo Andrew! Quick question - your 50 draw cards, are you specifically limiting these to Supporters? Would you count Acro Bike as a Draw or Auxiliary? Same goes for search cards - are you counting items like Fan Club in this category? I am making a few changes to my cube before I test it out. Happy to share the Google Doc when it's done.

    • @theryanmark
      @theryanmark Před 2 lety

      I am building a cube. My plan is to have about 30% of all trainers be supporters. With 6 players this would give 9 supporters and with 8 this would give 6 - 7 on average. I am spreading them out among draw, aux, search, and recovery categories.
      What did you end up landing on for supporters?

    Just built a SwSh 2020 meta cube. I'm extremely new to the game so naturally I've been collecting competitive staples (ADP Pikarom ETC). Now to change the cube up I'm buying old World Championship reprint decks with interesting support Pokemon JUST to throw a wrench in it. Me and my friends have only used the cube a few times but I absolutely LOVE trying to balance the format on my own time. That being said if ya'll know some older cards I haven't heard of that would be fun with Tag Teams and VMax's I would appreciate any suggestions.

    8:31 You can't look at the cards you picked until the first stack is fully devided, did I get that right?
    If so, why exactly? Isn't it more fun if players get to chose the optimal card every time they need to pick? If you aren't allowed to look at the cards you picked until you've chosen 15 cards, aren't their a lot of card you wish you would've taken instead of what you actually picked?
    Or is it the art of cubing to remember what you picked carefully? Then I get why ofc 🙈

    • @kamilgugaa2597
      @kamilgugaa2597 Před 4 lety

      It's more about a pause while drafting so you have time to look through your cards. You don't want to take your sweet time while drafting, because it's simply a time consuming process

    • @TrickyGym
      @TrickyGym  Před 4 lety +1

      Jean Alexander my cube is definitely on the expensive side! You can build super cheap cubes though - I would suggest the xy / sun and moon block or base set - gym in order to keep it as affordable as possible. If you want a 4 player cube I suggest aiming for about 240 cards since 4 players could each draft 4 packs of 15 or you could do 180 cards with 3 packs of 15. Suggest 240 tho since then you could have 6 players draft 4 packs of 10 and that would probably work too
