It must have felt really good to get rid of that much mess. The sinkhole was disturbing. I don't think I know another soul that would have taken the time to carry that little critter to the creek. You are such a good man Robert.

Marbled Salamander. It looked to be a male as they are more black and white where the females and juveniles are more black and silver. Glad you moved him to a safe place. That wet spot was pretty freaky. Must be some of that Georgia quicksand!

Nice to get a good clean up, help to keep snakes away also! Plus, the property will look so much better. Man a lot of trash behind the house!!! I love how Bleu hangs around, checking for snakes I bet. lol Glad you protect the good critters ... no snakes though. lol Wow, that hole is amazing!!! Scary too! I bet Bleu sleeps good at night ... lol I bet you take that tree out ...so nice to get all that rubbish away from the house off off the ground!

Another YT channel master undertaking a similar restoration project responded to viewer comments about what the YT’er needed do, when he needs to do it, with what he should do the work & the right person - not him - to do the work as follows: “You know, I feel a lot better about the work I AM doing than the work you’re NOT doing.” Power on, Robert and committed supporters! Power on!

PLEASE PLEASE HOPE YOU CAN READ MY COMMENT ROBERT.
Just woke, brain still asleep. Saturday 11 ish 19th Thinking "but roof has been done" then penny dropped well a house brick actually dah They were the live vids. What a God send both the tractor & Aaron are. That dump truck is going to get a work out with the amount of rubbish that needs to be got rid off around the farm. I really liked you both so much but seeing the care you took with those salamanders made me like you a whole lot more. Thanks for saving those little critters.
Jaw dropping watching those bricks just disappear into the abyss. Lol . I have to eat humble pie as to a comment I made in a video after the roof was finished that it would be nice to see all the rubbish around the house removed. I now see that it's not just a 5 minute job to get rid of it. AARON & HIS EXCAVATOR ARE A TRUE BLESSING TO THE FARM & YOU. To have someone like Aaron who is so genuinely & deeply invested in the farm as you are Robert. Without Aaron's support I really think you could & would have given up On the restoration a long time ago as it would be impossible for you to have done it by yourself. We no longer see your Son anymore on this channel as well as Side Step Adventures. 🙏🏻 he is ok & that he will pay a visit to both channels soon. Love the background music. Take care & 💜 from Lynne Victoria Australia 🇦🇺🐨

Funny thing my late wife & I after 20 yrs of marriage & 10 yrs in our last house, we only needed 1 Uhaul Truck (the biggest ones) to move in. When I moved out, I had almost 4 trucks full of stuff. I'm ex Navy they taught us how to get the most amount of stuff into the smallest place. The place I moved to was much smaller. We had so much stuff. Seems things accumulate, over time. She collected elephants, last count she had over 4000 in the front room alone. These were not large figurines. Of course people went out of their way to bring her elephants. She even took in those with missing legs, trunks, etc. Of course my meager belongings were 2 guitars, a bass, some recording equipment, & clothes.(ALL my stuff fit into my 2000 Cavalier, front & back seat. All the rest was hers.
Think of the years the place was just sitting there, kids & whoever running through the old property. I can go outside here, & my 6ard will be full of trash, none of it mine. Anyway.

Great video and a very impressive attack on the trash. The challenge of the terrain in your yard is epic! I have never seen a mud sinkhole like the one that nearly swallowed the tractor and I spent lots of time outdoors back in the day in New England (mud season) and in the mid-Atlantic states (quickmud). You are smart to get ahead of the wisteria and the green jungle mixed with trash before everything starts growing again. Well done, sir!

Might be an older well. My place in Tennessee had a well and wellhouse and pump beside the house, but back in 1997 when we had all that flooding an older well opened up in front of the house that I never had any idea of it being there. Spent a good while filling it back in. Before the flooding I had been driving my car over that spot and parking there it was that solid.

Critter saving is my favorite part, and moving them, a nice break for you I'd say. One of the biggest advantages on the Old Byrd Farm is its pesticide, herbicide and chemical free after a lapse of so many years of the land not being used. You have since told us the sink hole is a flower pit, if I recall? Aaron's North Carolina term is root cellar. Down on the farm in Eastern Kentucky its called a root cellar or cold bin. In any case, its nice to know the Kubota did not disappear. Great pre-roof episode. 👍👍❣️

Robert get a pair of anvil loppers to get the wisteria that you and Arron are having to use the chainsaw on (laying on ground or tangled up around something) it will be faster and a lot safer. My family bought land that had both the wisteria and honey sucker vines on it . Ever seen honey sucker vines that are almost 3 inches round? We had it. Got pretty good at removing it from ground. One person picks up vine and starts pulling other person has loppers and starts snipping those roots that hold it down . Got into rhythm tug, snip, tug ,snip. faster and faster till the end. lol Good luck, you are doing an amazing job!

That old F700 I would have been going through the JC Whitney catalogue back in the day looking for a manual choke I could mount to the dash for it, lol. We had an old '65 Chevy C30 with a dump bed on it and it had a manual choke but can't remember whether it came with it or was added on later. The creeks around here all have natural gravel that's constantly washing downstream and whenever we needed a load of gravel for the driveway we'd borrow our neighbors little John Deere (About the same size as that Kubota) and head down to the creek and load that dump truck up with creek gravel. Funny thing is we had nice black loamy topsoil but the gravel in the creeks was always about the same color as Georgia clay and there are places up here that have that red clay which just looks weird in southern Indiana, lol. On our land, if you dug down a few feet you'd hit gray clay and a few feet after that you'd hit solid limestone.

Unbeknownst to me, while clearing our just bought...overgrown 35 acres, my hubby and crews put in dead tree branches, stumps, broken cement blocks and large boulders to act as filler in soft areas of ground. Ten years later, I am walking across our home's backyard with a wheelbarrow full of garden fertilizer bags..,and next thing I know...I am laying in bottom of a sunk hole with wheelbarrow and bags flung about! Turns out...adding stuff like branches, stumps...things that DECAY....is NOT good idea to fill sink holes! My hubby thought it was so funny...until I beaned him with a clump of soil with a rock in it!

That squishy mud area is caused by over saturated soil and is called “pumping.” The best thing to do is either let it dry or remove it and replace it with better fill. You seem to have a few places like this. If you can borrow your neighbors backhoe and create some drainage (like French drains) to pull the water table away from the buildings/ roads, you will end up with less pumping and less moisture in the crawl space under your house. A mini excavator with a dozer works great for this and you can dig a swale away from your buildings for all the water to go. Installing roof gutters and getting the roof water to drain into the swale will help significantly as well.

Yay! Good job getting the tractor unstuck! I love the dog following everyone around, trying to help. ❤ That cute little salamander thing was probably a star trek monster tho. I would make sure it didn't latch onto you guys at some point trying to get back to his home planet. 🤷‍♀️ It was nice of you to take it to a safe place so it wouldn't get run over, though. 😊
