  • Here is a full build of the Lindberg 1:25 Scale Dodge L700 Tilt Cab Model Kit.
This kit started out to be a fun build.
I am pleased with the final results.
I tried to film the important aspects of building this kit.
You can choose to build yours how ever you want.
I hope this video helps you to gain a better understanding of this kit.
    Enjoy
    Have a great day,
    Thanks for watching.

the reason that the front of the engine is offset like that is to replicate the stagger of the cylinders because in a V8 the cylinders are not really directly across from each other.

My face and head are rather like that.
No fault of mine, of course. I was not yet born at the time--consequences of a breech birth gone awry, they were.

That kit was originally put out by IMC back in 1965, then Lindberg got all the IMC kits and some were released by Testors also, Now Round 2 owns all the molds and are releasing them under the AMT banner. So I wonder if the instructions got any better and/or did they release the L-700 with the hollow AMT tractor tires?

Thanks I’ll have to keep an eye out for an AMT version to compare the two.

Rich, thank you for this. I trust you are reasonably well.
Only recently had I learnt of Lindberg’s 1966 Dodge L700 Tilt-Cab Tractor 1:25th-scale kit. I initially had found it disconcertingly odd-looking, though over the years have I since come to see it as so quaintly evocative of its day that it holds my attention; also, I cannot find other such conveyances of that period.
Incidentally, the kit dates the vehicle as “1966”, yet “taskmaster58” tells us that IMC issued it back in 1965, which suggests their manufacture to have been round 1964. Would you perhaps know what model year of the Dodge L700 Tilt-Cab Tractor does the kit represent?
I would like to build it in a tractor-trailer rig arrangement. Would you know if any model company makes anything fitting that?
Actually, I would like several types of heavy capacity freight, each with a different boxed van, flatbed, or similar; and a couple other more conventional trucks, which is a freight vehicle that bears moderate loads over intermediate distances. (If I could find similar vehicles from different manufacturers, I would include them, as well.) These would form the heart of a convoy with a dozen or more vehicles amongst them and to either side, some of them passenger cars, pickup trucks, or similar.
I also would like to find kits of a few trucks and some tractors drawing a trailer each that would be contemporaneous to the Ford Model T series of vehicles. I would include them all in a highway diorama winding across the ridge-line of a great, vast meadow.
At 24:33, you apologise for “this long, drawn-out video”, that you were “hoping to do this real nice build video”. First, you not need for regret; the whole point of all this is for those of greater experience and expertise to show us how to resolve difficulties when we encounter them. This is especially so in cases of older kits with molds of lesser crispness than those of today. Compare this fiftyish Lindberg model with Tamiya’s 1:32nd-scale kits of the Chance Vought F4U-1, -1A, -1C, -1D, -2, and -4 Corsair USN/USMC/FAA Fighter. In fact, perhaps you ought to build these as your next project, for they could serve you as model-building’s equivalent of an outing through verdant countryside for the fresh air to ease the mind.

If you can go to scalemates dot com and search Dodge L700 you will find a plethora of trailer options that are available with that style kit anywhere from flatbeds to box, vans to tankers

Man that looks like a total s#@t show..I have the kit it came with a 40 ford coupe and a flatbed but I gotta say I think I'm gonna leave that in the closet till I get a little more skilled. Loved the video I think build videos should be longer I want to know the issues I will run into and different ideas on how to overcome them. That's y I watch and subscribe. Can't wait to see what's next!

It was a frustrating build for sure.
I hope the dump truck kit is an easier build.

What a disaster! The cab sits all cockeyed and the left front tire rubs against the body!
At 13:30 mark you say, "Throw this in the garbage." That could refer to the complete kit!
Don't feel so bad, the 'Right On Replicas' guy's build of this kit came out just as bad!
I WON'T be building this trainwreck of a kit!
