Michael, I'm glad you opted to keep the lifeguard shack. Darkening the sky behind it really helped the entire painting. Blocked in colors are initial ideas that can be adjusted later to fit the whole. Seeing all this in real time with your thought process is very helpful. Thank you, Michael. And Ariah - your wave action is incredible! I love both paintings!
You really finessed that brush to get a wide range of marks- the result looks like you had a much bigger kit! We've noticed a lot of more experienced artists' brushes tend to skew a little on the larger side. It's a great way to keep your skills sharp and give yourself an interesting challenge!
Wonderful Sunday morning interlude watching a live California painting session! Viewing from the coast south of Boston! I am addicted to pastels but there is plenty to learn from your process, experience and commentary! Thanks!

Always enjoy when Ariah accompanies you on your outings. Happy fall painting.

Good morning Mark!
@@chamberlainpaintingsMichael, that brush is really dancing , like quick , upbeat strokes, great enthusiasm 😁

Salamatvpo
16:58 - thumbnail ( no , I’m wrong ) , water does not match
The hazard of using only one brush is that the marks can become rather boring. If your brush was a Rosemary dagger, it makes a huge variety of marks.
I totally disagree but that’s what art is all about. Choose the approach that gets the results you’re looking for.
