Thank you!! Awesome video! Great job giving detailed instructions. Can't wait to try this!!
Hi Amy! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful work and techniques.
Thank you! I have decoupaged for 25 years at least and never thought about using an iron! I have used a lot of tissue paper (which family always saves for me from birthdays and holidays) and never had it bleed on me. I am going to try this and also try it on crackle medium because I love that rustic look! Thanks again!!
This is the best video by far. Thank you for being so detailed!
Thank You- you covered it all. Very informative 🙋🏻♀️
Perfect explanations. Really appreciate you!
Thank you so very much for your wonderful demonstration. The samples are really lovely!
Thank you for such a great detailed vedo.love it.
FABULOUS TECH!!! Thank you so very much for sharing!!!!
I use the iron on method all the time and I love it. I’ve never done the fabric or tissue paper yet, but looking forward to trying it! Love the tutorial
Yours my friend is the best advice, and makes everything informative and uncomplicated.
This is so awesome and well explained!
Excited at the thought of trying this.
Thank you for your time!!
Thank you Coreen !! I'm so happy you liked this tutorial and I hope you give this decoupage method a try. Thanks for watching and I hope you are having a fabulous day !!
You're a great teacher! Can't wait to try this! I decoupage the old fashioned way, or used to! This is so much easier, with better results. Thank you!
Thank you Maureen :) I love this method and I used to shy away from doing decoupage because it was "hit or miss" if it was going to turn to the way I wanted. Then I watched Royce from Recycled Treasures do it and I was hooked. Now I do this all the time and have great results each time. Thanks again and I hope you are enjoying your day !!
Seriously amazed by this method!!!
Easy and no mess....that's what I love about it most. Thanks for watching and I hope you have a great day ! HUGS :)
I recognize you, from a few ago, bicycling clothing. I was the one who never shut up lol, asking questions to you. Wow you really are a great teacher. 🙏🌹❤
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and craft tutorials
You're welcome and thank you for watching :) I hope you are enjoying your day ...HUGS :)
Thank you so much, you are so helpful. And you explain everything so we'll🥰

Thanx Again . Have an Awesome day 🤗
Thank you Ondina !! You having me smiling ear to ear :) I'm so happy you enjoyed this tutorial. Hope you have an amazing day as well.
Well you've done it again !! An excellent and informative video. I'm going to have to do this method of decoupage on one of up coming projects. Now, gotta find a new piece of furniture to do this one. Think I may get a piece of wood large enough and do this method to and use it in my staging. Thanks for all you do !!
You're welcome Gloria and thank you for watching !! I'm so happy you liked this tutorial. I love using this method and its so clean and easy...no mess ;) Thanks again Gloria and look forward to seeing your next project !! HUGS :)
Thank you for such excellent teaching of how to decoupage using this method! You are an excellent teacher and your enthusiasm is contagious because I immediately wanted to start a project! I will however try to purchase the products you used before I start! Thank you again!
Thank you Laura :) I'm so glad you liked this video and are going to give it a try. I love this method (not messy and easy to do). If you don't have a local Dixie Belle retailer, I'd appreciate if you used my affiliate link to shop Dixie Belle's site.....every little bit helps :) . If you don't know if you have a local retailer, you can click on my link and it will take you to the Dixie Belle site and on the site there is a "find a retailer" tab to see where you local retailers are. Thanks again and I hope you are having a FABULOUS day !! HUGS :)
Best video ever! I've been cranking out coasters and clipboards using the iron technique. No more wrinkles.
Thanks Stella !!! I'm so happy this was helpful and that you had great success with it. I love the iron method. Thanks for watching and sharing with me ....HUGS :)
PERFECT! I understand it completely, thank you for sharing & making this video. I'm glad I came across this tutorial before I totally messed up (regular deco) a project I'm getting ready to do.
I can't wait to get started! THANKS AGAIN 💕
Just what I needed Amy. Thanks so much for the great video.
I'm so happy this was helpful and what you were looking for. I love using this method (so clean and easy). Thanks again !!! HUGS :)
fashiontoppings question Amy. I decoupaged some wrapping on just one side of a drawer with MP and then decided I didn’t like my choice. Do you know how can I remove the paper down to the wood? Thanks so much.❤️
Fantastic Piece! Love all the different pieces together! I would add another French tissue paper on the empty space, add a couple Handles on the top ends and uses as a serving tray or Stove Topper! A Super Fun Piece!!! Very Artsy! Love this Video! I am making some rustic wood Farmhouse Tab Curtain holders with Hooks and using Chippy paint and Napkins tomorrow using your method! Hope it works!!! Thanks for Sharing!!!
Thank you :) Yes, I need to put something on the open spot....since this is a sample board showing each different material, I'm wanting to find some floral wrapping paper or french script so that my board has 1 of each type of decoupage material (fabric, wrapping paper, napkin, tissue paper) all on one demo board to display. Since I was getting so many questions and comments on my other decoupage video, I need to get that this new video up quickly to help answer questions for everyone....so I didn't have time to find the wrapping paper for that spot. You're curtain holder project sounds pretty .... Would love to see pictures when you're done !! Thanks again and I hope you have a wonderful day !! HUGS :)
Great tutorial!! Thanks.
Fantastic thank you for sharing from Scotland 🏴
Thank you. I love it!!!
That’s the cutest little iron😄
I can't speak English, but are you perfect teacher, see your work on my computer, I live and am from El Salvador, en next go to Dallas I to go buy from Michels, Beautiful work congratulations
Another great tutorial! I decoupaged fabric to dresser fronts using Mod Podge and it was a huge mess. I like this process much better and you stay clean! Brilliant
Great video, thanks!
Excellent tutorial. I like you shows, Thank you, God Bless
I used Hallmark wrapping paper or rice paper for decoupaging as well!
You saved my butt! I thought after applying my top coat and wrinkling and bubbles that happened it was ruined! Can't thank you enough for your tutorials!
When I saw that this video was just short of 25 minutes long, I thought I’d have to watch it later … I’ve got a long list of things to do today. Still, I took a moment to start it and now it’s 25 minutes later. You have such a great teaching style; I was hooked. Yesterday I tried decoupaging and there are wrinkles. Now, if they don’t come out with this iron and parchment paper method, I’ll start again from scratch, with more attention to surface prep. and with this video by my side. Thank you so much!
I thought about seriously doing this for a Plywood Floor in my Class A RV...
It is in bad shape, and I was going to lay down plywood planks, stain it or white wash it... but thought about using the napkins with lots of top coats of Poly...
that would be a labor of love, but wouldn't it be Pretty...
Thank you so much for sharing this great (Beautiful) video... Loved it.
I thank you for this.
Thank you for the video! I have a project I now know
how to finish!
Thank you so much!!!! 😍
I think you just solved a HUGE issue that I’ve been searching for some time! Going to try this on a BIG world map we want to mount on an outside protected wall on our patio! The map is paper, and I was going to decoupage it, but I think this method can make it perfectly smooth!! Whoo-hoo! TY!
You're welcome and thank you for watching :) I'm so happy this has been helpful .... your project sounds amazing !! Thanks again and I hope you have a GREAT day !! HUGS :)
Exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much 😅 I have panicked because after adding top layer my perfectly straight napkin wrinkled. Thank you 😊
So Pretty. :)
Hi AJ! I am so happy I found this video, I've got a big project I have to start and I am not a good decoupager.
Oh hells bells and buckets of blood. I have just spent hours trying to scrub out the bubbles on my first project. Ended up stripping it all off and starting again. I wish I saw this earlier 😰Thanks Amy for your excellent advice. Love your channel🥰
Use a painter's light to see if you missed any spots whenever you paint or topcoat. It works so well.
Love this idea, can you use this method on ceramic tiles..
Thank you for your video, information delivered very clear and I enjoyed watching
Thank you
X cool vid 👏🏽👌🏽
Absolutely gorgeous! Have you used scrapbook paper? Thank you so much for sharing your ideas & tips with us! Stay safe, healthy and positive! God bless you and your family! Happy New Year to you and your family! 🙏❤🇺🇸😊🎉
This is fab. Thank you so much. If I were to use it on a table would you suggest a stronger sealant? You're tutoring is excellent, thank you.
Just watched your video Amy, and wanted to say thank you!! I looked to see if there is a retailer near me and well, it's my lucky day!! I'm off to get my supplies. I have a project that I have procrastinated on and totally screwed up doing it the Mod Podge way. What a pain to get that off!!
You are so clear and tell all the steps in such a way that even I could do it! You are a great teacher! I have some vintage gift wrap paper - do you think it would stand up to this technique?
Dear Woodland Poetry and Books
If you're worried about using your vintage paper for a decoupage project, there's another way of doing it: you just need to make a print of your original paper and use that instead of the real vintage paper. If you have an ink jet printer, then you can can make several copies of your paper, and then you need to seal the ink by placing the copies in the oven, on a metal tray, for 5 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius/400 degrees Fahrenheit. You have to be very careful about this and only leave the paper in the oven for exactly 5 minutes, or it can burn. Then, take the copies out of the oven and off the tray, and let them cool. Then, take a can of hairspray, shake it well, and spray it lightly over the ink on the copies. (All this is done to seal the ink, because, if you don't do it, the ink will run. If you use a Laser printer though, you don't need to seal the ink and you can go straight to the next part.) Now, you apply 2 coats of Mod Podge to the surface you want to stick your paper to, letting each coat dry thoroughly. Then you just follow the instructions in this video: place the paper where you want it to be, cover it with baking parchment, and then iron over the top, making sure that there's no water in the iron, and that it's set to non - steam. The iron should be hot enough to melt the Mod Podge so that the paper sticks to the surface. After this, when the paper is completely glued onto the surface, you can varnish the whole project with a water based varnish, or you can add any embellishments you like, and then varnish it when its finished. I hope this helps you a bit. If you don't have a printer at home, you can have copies made for you quite cheaply at stores that sell office supplies and computers. Love from Amanda in Australia
@@amandajones6481 Thank you! I really appreciate your describing everything in such detail. I have always wanted to use those beautiful papers, but just couldn't see myself making a mistake and ruining them. Now I don't have to worry. You are so generous with your time. Thank you again.💗 Love from East Texas!
Beautiful. Great method. You are a wonderful teacher! Can you use any type of material using this method? Thank you so much!
I love this and have tried it on a wood filing cabinet I bought at a thrift shop. I Love this but my tissue paper did not go all the way to the edge. Do you have a video on how to blend the tissue ends on a piece?
I have always used the iron technique. It works great every time. Don't understand why more people don't use this technique.
This was awesome - can you apply the same to terra cotta?
I wish we could get gather hide in England x
This is the best tutorial! Thanks for explaining thing with such detail. Is mod podge a sealant/topcoat? TFS!!
Mod Podge is a decoupage glue sold in craft stores. Thanks Cristina !! I hope you are having a fabulous weekend...HUGS :)
Awesome projects! Love your videos. Have you ever used the heat technique on multi-level surfaces or beveled edges such as a picture frame? How would that work?
I've only done it on smooth surfaces because its hard to get the iron into the different levels.
#replay @Southern Grace Restyled Love this video! Question: Can I decoupage an end table top that has slate on top?
Will that work? I have used Slick Stick on the top.
i HAVE WATCHED THIS VIDEO SEVERAL TIMES. I REALLY ENJOY YOUR TEACHING AND EXPLANATIONS. HOWEVER, DID I MISS THE ANSWER TO MY QUESTION. WHEN USING THE PARCHMENT PAPER WAX SIDE UP OR DOWN. I THINK ITS DOWN BUT I'M NOT SURE. PLEASE CONFIRM. FLO
Love this method. Have you tried it on canvas?
Hi Amy I just watched your video. I was wondering if this technique could be used with fabric on a leather top table?
NICE TO SEE A FRESH FACE!
What about lace? I'm wanting to put lace on a dresser but I'm concerned that the glue that's exposed will stick to the parchment paper. Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated
Do these same techniques work similarly on chip board?
Hi. Should you wait until the fabric has cooled down after ironing to apply the top coat or can you apply straight away? Thank you
Brilliant! Loved your tutorial. Q. Is there an alternative brand/type sealer to your chosen demo?
So if we don’t want to spend extra money on the Dixie products, could we do the same process with Mod podge?
Can you use card stock with the gator hide?
when you purchase the roycycled decoupage paper do you purchase the 10lb tissue paper or a specific size?
Great instruction and enjoyed seeing the three products side by side. Only question I have is how well ink-jet printed tissue would look. Will that ink smudge, too?
I bet that type of ink would smudge....you would have to try it on a sample board first. Since we use laser printers for image transfers and they don't smudge, you could try that and see if that would work and be a little less risky. Thanks for watching and I hope you have a wonderful day ! HUGS :)
Wondering how decoupage works on glass. Do you know? Working with dexoupage by dixie bell
Please help I was so excited I dis what you said painted, put layer mod podge, put napkin and used the paper and ironed . It was brilliant no creases, so then put coat mod podge again to seal it . It creased up i didnt panic i let it dry and ironed it the paper stuck to it . So I guessed iron too hot , cleaned it off and tried again, cannot get creases out at all . Its all bubbly . Could it be the mod podge do you think I should try something else. Please help.
For napkins I got frustrated from the embossed edges that are tiny dots like is there a way to get rid of it?
Hello Amy. This video was great... And I thought I'd seen every chalk paint/Dixie Belle video ever made!! I will try the iron method for sure.
First of all I need to say that the nail file trick is genius!! 😊
I have some "craft paper" from hobby lobby, that is most likely designed for scrapbooking...which I do not do, however there are some really cool designs, colors etc. They are on the thicker side. I'm wondering if the iron method would work better for that as a "tool" vs the basic wet method. Do you have any thoughts or experience using the paper described? TIA patty
I just revisited this video to refresh my memory. I have a question: can I apply a second coat of Gator Hide over the finished product, or will it wrinkle again?
Great tutorial. Can u please tell me what side of the parchment paper do u use the shiny or dull side. Also can canvas be used. Thank u
It doesn't matter which side you use, its just used to protect your iron from getting any of the top coat sealer on it or from accidentally leaving burn marks on your fabric if you have your iron in one spot for too long. :)
What tips can you give me for applying to a curved surface like a can? Thank you
Can you use a bed sheet for the cloth application
Is a top coat sealer the same as polyurithane? Sp? I know!
Thank you for the great video. After it dries do you not put a top coat on it to seal it so it can be wiped off , for instance if you use it inside drawers. Thank you !
The top coat was used for the decoupaging so no addition coats are necessary unless you want to add extra protection. :)
Thanks for sharing your skills. I was wondering ,could you overlap the tissue paper say over another medium like the napkin or maybe the fabric?
Does this iron method work with mod podge and the America's decoupage glue? Thank you for teaching ❤️ ♥️ 🙏 💕 💓
Can you please give brand & size of iron you are using or provide a link to it? Thanks! Excellent presentation skills!
I used to feel so discouraged doing decoupage the traditional way, but not anymore!!! Thank you for giving me the inspiration to try decoupage again!!! ❤️❤️❤️
