When I was growing up in London my Dad often played Congolese Rumba. The amazing guitaring caught my attention.
Other than that I really appreciate Tshala Muana (Zambian students introduced me to her). The other classic was Orchestra Virunga by Sam Mangwana.
That's the extent of my exposure to Congolese music.
Tigress you really tried with the food. What didn't you like about it?
Question: Belgium is the former colonial ruler of DR Congo. Belgium has two major official languages. Dutch and French. Why do Congolese only bother to learn only French? Why haven't they learned to speak Dutch?

    1) The Inga Dam (one of the largest in Africa).

Hopefully I'll be visiting Kinshasa this year with my girlfriend and mother in law, whom are both Congolese descent (my girlfriend was born in The Netherlands though, just like me). Would you say people have a general understanding of English? For me I'd love to check out the national parks and experience Kinshasa, but the city itself doesn't seem to have a whole lot of tourist hotspots from what I've seen.
