This is my reaction to Brits try Southern BBQ for the first time!
In this video I react to British CZcamsrs Jolly trying Southern BBQ for the first time
#usa #food #reaction
Original Video - • Brits try Southern BBQ...
The thing is, you can taste every second of the 12 hours of cooking. The misconception is we eat this way everyday. Maybe once a month.
Shiiiiit I eat it twice a week
Chicken wings became popular first in Buffalo, NY. The owners of The Anchor Bat fried them, tossed them in a sauce made from Frank’s Red Hot and butter, and served them the blue cheese dressing. A lot of bbq joints in the US have taken to smoking wings, a different but really good way to enjoy them.
Clarification, Buffalo wings first became popular in NY. Chicken wings were always popular in the South and in the countryside areas.

Nah, this stuff is not cheap. A lot of it is locally-sourced, so it's often a bit cheaper, but from I've heard, this place is pretty high-end (I have family that live down there and a friend who has actually eaten at this restaurant, he said it was pretty expensive like 10 years ago). Definitely watch the video they do like 12 hours after this. It's Noah's birthday and he is piss drunk and they eat at Waffle House at 3:00 AM. It's hilarious. Noah seems like a great dude. Fun fact: he is not a chef by trade. He literally works on septic tanks for a living. Interesting guy. Also, the Malaysian-American BBQ video would be cool. I'd love to see their take on it, considering their food is already amazing. Also, there's supposedly a guy in Edinburgh who is world class at Texas BBQ.
The follow up to this video is the boys going to Waffle House. It’s hilarious. A must watch❤
I definitely agree 🤣
Which is done after they had "a couple" of drinks. Enough said.😂
From the U.S.,
..the world really might be a better place if everyone had a Scottish accent :)
Can listen to him talk all day
I've done the "meat umbrella" for decades, but I use my fork. Hold it straight up, and scrape it off the bone.
Noah is an American treasure.
Dude… When you come to Alberta to watch the Oilers and the flames, there is a roadside barbeque house just south of Calgary near Okotoks … Outstanding southern atmosphere, and the food is second to none!… One more reason to make Alberta your first spot to visit in Canada!!!
There are actually different videos with asian people trying American Bbq & You should watch some of those,, They are truly impressed & love it.
12:36 A decent number of Americans cook like this at home. Most people I know have a smoker or 2. I have a few one is the size of a shed. It is used to smoke hundreds of salmon at one time.
Jolly at the Texas rodeo!
I go for a barbecue feast about once every two months. And I'm in Texas surrounded by outstanding barbecue!
I tried the meat umbrella but I didn’t let them cool at all and burned my fingers 😂
Since that dude is a chef, his fingers have been burnt to the tips and no longer have feeling lol.
The flats I feel like are easier to get all the meat off of, but I still like the drumsticks more because the meat is truly just more accessible. Don’t have to do the umbrella technique on a wing 😅
Mert, the light colored beans are black eyed peas. Typically they're cooked with smoked hamhocks, for hours, with onions and garlic. Coming from Southern stock, I've always had black eyed peas, hamhocks, rice and cornbread on New Years, traditionally for good luck. It's yum!
They paid a boatload of money for all that (unless it was comped by the restaurant). That’s not a meal people would buy regularly. You don’t just sit there and order one thing after another after another. That’s not what normal people eat in one visit, that what someone might’ve eaten in the 5 trips they’ve made in the past year. You don’t go do this once or twice a week, it’s maybe once every 6 or 8 weeks. I’m a bbq lover smack in the middle of Texas and I probably get barbecue 5 or 6 times a year.
When I go do bbq, I buy far less - typically a 1/2 pound of brisket and a sausage link, say. No sides. Soft drink with that. Easily $20 - $25 for that much meat and drink. They must’ve spent over $200 for the three I’d think.
The Heinz beans your used to we call pork n beans, no spices, just bland beans in a tomato based sauce.
I have subscribed exclusively to see this man try the bbq joint he was talking about doing a video about.
There are BBQ championships all over the US. And chili cookoffs. Many state fairs will hand out awards for the best pies, fried chicken, Dutch Babies . . . You probably didn't know we are cannibalistic in the US. LOL!! That amount of BBQ will be very expensive.
Hi I just came across your channel and I loved the video. I'm from Chattanooga Tennessee and I've met the man that was with Jolly. He is one of the nicest people who does amazing things for all the right reasons. Can't wait to see more of you videos
I'd put all my money on authentic Key Lime pie being the best of the best pies.
We definitely need to see you try it bro!!
BBQ contests are a regular thing.
Best pie in the US (with obvious bias) for me has always been a pecan pie, made with thick Alaga syrup. We have a family recipe which would likely cause world peace - mostly because everyone would need a nap.
Yeah, find if they have Carolina BBQ, whether it's Eastern Carolina (vinegar based sauce) BBQ or western Carolina BBQ (pork), then there's Kansas City BBQ, & Texas BBQ (beef)
I live in South Carolina and there’s a place back off the beaten path called Shealy’s BBQ it’s to die for 💯
Yes, we have barbecue cook offs in Texas.
Ever since i learned the meat umbrella technique, wing flats became my favorite instead of drums. Awesome way to get all the meat in 1 bite! Mouthful of flavor!
Baked beans taste better than beans in tomato sauce. Baked beans are made with molasses and most of the time, have meat, i.e. pork, bacon, or sometimes beef, i.e. minced hamburger, mixed in along with brown sugar and onions and sometimes, we Americans put bits of green pepper in our baked beans as well. To make them into barbecue beans, we add premade barbecue sauce, if lazy at times. or make it from scratch, along with brisket if we so desire.
My favorite is Brisket...love it ....I have family all over the USA. I love BBQ Smoked meat. Yes they have huge BBQ competitions. They are serious. Yes it's the sauce that makes different wings...not a wing person 😢 forgot you need beans and dirty rice when eating BBQ meals love fried okra. Only fried okra...
Great video, I will also just confirm that Korean wings are so damn good
The Umbrella is great because it's even more messy to try to eat the meat off of the small bones. lots of meat in the middle of the bones, but smashing it down gets all the meat released. Love the "Mind over matter".. he's great.
Buffalo wings its the sauce. A lot of butter mixed with a ton of Franks red Hot sauce or something similar
You must watch their trip to the Waffle House with Noah. It’s the same day after they went out to have a few drinks. It is 3am and very funny
Buffalo wings originate in Buffalo New York so that's where the name comes from, but now it also just refers to the kind of sauce on them.
To get brisket that tender, you have to use low heat, and many hours. As the saying goes, "Low and Slow". And no we can't eat like everyday. This would be more like once a month thing to do. Don't be afraid of flavor.
2:44 It's the sauce.
You do know that actual AMERICAN BBQ exists in the UK, right? Check out Jolly's latest offerings as well as Mr. H. and Friends, you'll see there's a few eateries out there that you can go and do a taste test yourself. I know of Prairie Fyre in London, and there's Spitfire (Mr. H has a video on it) - two off the top of my head that I've seen that seem legit. Check it out and post a vid about it!
He doesn't live in England.
he lives in Asia
Reality show BBQ Pit Masters.
Yes! I would love you to try American BBQ at home in Malaysia. That would make a great video
Europeans think that all Americans do is eat hamburgers hot dogs and pizza they don't know what's at all.
Buffalo wings originated in Buffalo New York, buffalo sauce as well if im not mistaken
I've lived in TX and want to let you know wings are not common at the bbq joints there. You can find a fourth of a chicken smoked.
Everything they serve at Wiley's is great, yes please let us see you make a video taste test. If you come to USA you can compare😊
No, I have never done the "meat umbrella".
Low and slow. Steven Reicklen has some great books and shows, on the subject of how to cook barbeque.
I would love to see what American BBQ is like in Malaysia... we could tell you what differences to expect if it doesnt look right too so you'd have a better understanding :)
I’m my short life so far… been introduced to bbq through a once in a while maybe abt 4 times a year we’d as a company go get som bbq
The meat umbrella is the only way I eat flats
You wouldn’t normally get all the types of sides and meats like they do in these videos. So you could have something like this (but only one meal and not 4 or however many they are eating here) every couple of weeks. But if it’s expensive like people have said in the comments then maybe once a month or on special occasions.
Mate I'm in Australia and just looked at google maps and there are at least 5 or 6 american bbq restaurants in malaysia including a Texas one. Get out and try them.
Hello from Denver Colorado. I have two pies that are my favorites they always run side by side. 1. Strawberry Rhubarb pie
2. Pumpkin pie
Texas BBQ reigns supreme!
Bbq is drastically different from region to region here in USA Texas is on its own, Carolina is on its own then the north has own kind as well.
Yes major bbq competitions it’s on par with trying for a Michelin star as a chef.
Buffalo wings were invented in buffalo new York I forget the name of the retaurant
Good American BBQ is worth the price but it's usually a treat for me
Flats all day!!
You need to watch the follow-up video when Noah takes the Jolly crew to Waffle House. Very funny.
It's very hard to say what's the best pie....Banana Cream Pie , Pecan Pie , Apple Pis Chocolate Cream Pie ! BLUEBERRY Pie..Squash Pie the lis t goes on ...Strawberry Pie Very Berry Pie Rubarb Piie Peanut butter chocolate pie 😅
it is a thing, its a BIG THING
About $20 for a meal
Jolly has a lot of great American food videos...
Brits try real southern fried chicken...
Brits try Waffle House...
Yeah, we go in for "championships." BBQ. Chili. Fried chicken. Garlic. Whatever. It's a great excuse for a food festival!
No well-adjusted person just eats just drums or flats, you must do both.
Oh yes please do a video about "American BBQ" in Malaysia... Just know American BBQ tastes nothing like whatever you will have.
Best American pie? You saw it right there; pecan pie with chocolate chips is not just the best pie, might be the best food. Anywhere.
Well like any other food it's all subjective. To you and other that may be the best pie in the world but to other a good apple pie is the best, or a pumpkin pie.
What you call baked beans are similar to Boston Baked Beans. These beans taste nothing like that.
you could dress as that dude that likes to stab people from trainspotting for halloween and itd be spot-on. i lived in texas for a while and what i learned is the wood you use matters greatly. hickory or mesquite is what was popular in texas. i would always get a brisket sandwich at a semi fast food place in san antonio called bill millers. with pickled onions and spicy bbq sauce
There’s a BBQ joint here in Atlanta that uses pecan wood and it is a noticeable difference
interesting, cant say ive tried it although the only pecan tree ive ever seen was in Louisiana lol. ill have to give it a whirl if im ever passing through
i cannot get over how much the guy on the left looks like Lloyd Christmas from Dumb and Dumber.
In Germany you would not talking while chewing, typical american 😂😂😂no table behavior 😂❤️
@angelahenke9754, well, in America we know how to truly enjoy good food, good company and good conversation. Good table manners are done in the right setting. But eating BBQ is like a party in itself. Life is too short not to enjoy yourself whenever possible. That’s just my opinion of course.
I am just playing with the stereotyp of thinking,;🥳
What I love at the americans: their self confident
And to be fair 😉the boys were a Little bit drunken 😂
