St Aldhelm’s #Well, #Doulting, Somerset. Ever-flowing #source of the #River Sheppey.
Aldhelm was a C7/8th Abbot and Bishop who founded the town of Frome. Born in Baltonsborough nr Glastonbury, he died in the church at Doulting. The day before he died, he sat all day by this well, singing songs of blessing with the flowing waters.
Today, the well offers deep cool refreshment all year round. Folk who drink here swear by the water’s health-giving properties.
