Jennifer Graham it's easy for me to relate this to the Penn State sex abuse scandal at the hands of Jerry Sandusky. The main perpetrators got arrested and sent to prison but it wasn't the end of the story. Everyone that knew about it turned a blind eye and failed to alert law enforcement went down like Domino's.

worms for brains: the coach did not report the sexual abuse to LAW ENFORCEMENT like she should have, not just to USAG. and maggie 100% did not make the team because she reported Nassar, while Steve Penny was lying about an FBI investigation. she was one of the best gymnasts in the world.

I don't think she would've made the team even if she/her coach didn't report Nassar. She was injured and didn't have the same difficulty she had in 2015. Essentially Laurie 'took her spot' and 2016 Laurie was a lot better than 2016 Maggie. It's unfortunate she got injured when she did, and I'd definitely believe it if the Karolys purposely pushed her to the point of injury since I *believe* she got injured at the ranch. But after she was injured there really wasn't a path for her, which sucks, but I don't think she would've added anything to the 2016 team had she been chosen.

I just think that Marta never liked Maggie. In the trials broadcast, Tim said that a few years ago when Maggie was first coming on the scene Marta called her "exceptionally average". @@ei7388 probably. I think Marta and bela karolyi are sadistic and a product of an autocratic and sadistic regime where sadism made you successful. You can even read it in their facial expressions. Marta is always making awkward and over the top faces. This is a hallmark of a narcissistic and emotionally abusive personality. And yes, if they would have left her off based on her speaking out against a flawed system, it would gave been easy to conceal because of the depth of the us team, where nobody except simone biles was a shoe in. Leaving her off the team would be tantamount to leaving Usain bolt at home. It kind of sucks that gymnastics is not as objective as track and field. The subjective nature of the sport created a prime context for gas lighting abuse because they could get away with mocking an athlete's body or skills without her seeing the psychological breakdown that was going on. Had this been swimming or track, that would not have been possible, as an athletes skills speak for themselves and are not up for subjective scrutiny.

@@ei7388 I mean top 10 yeah but she was no where near top 3 on any event nor was she top 3 in the AA. She could’ve at best been third alternate but even that the alternates that were chosen had better potential than she did. It is a known fact that the top 2 AA gymnast would compete AA at the olympics and we all know that marta would never not let the reigning AA champion not compete for an AA spot. Ragan could’ve contended for a beam medal, mykayla had potentials for floor and vault medal and Ashton on bars. These three alternates were literally guaranteed to win a medal on these events had they competed but based on the level Maggie was at in 2016 post injury, she wasn’t a guarantee for any medals on any event. Had she been in her prime in 2015, she might have gotten laurie’s spot but she wasn’t at the same level. You want to know who’s robbed? Nassar was doing the abuse IN FRONT OF THE PARENTS! He would gain their trust by inviting them to witness his "magic" anytime they wished. He places his back to block the view, place a towel over the gymnast's lower body, and distract the parent with small talk. That is what is crazy. All these parents are freaked out because they literally witnessed their own daughter to be assaulted. Because the parents never said anything due to not able to see anything the daughters thought that what was happening was completely normal and they were calmed down. This caused them all to think that they were never abused. When the first allegations were published in 2016 they thought really hard about what Nassar did to them, at first denied it and said it was impossible that he did that to them too, and then their realization hit them like a bowling ball within a few weeks, months, or years.

The 1984 National Team Coach of Team USA, Don Peters, abused at least 3 gymnasts including his star from his personal club, Doe Yamashiro (who was a Team USA gymnast). It is strange how nowadays the authorities seem to want to just blame everything on Nassar and not on the coaches and top officials who all were sending the girls to Nassar to be abused. All of the hundreds of adults should be held accountable and be prosecuted. I have a feeling that if the 2012 National Team Coach of Team USA, John Geddert, didn't off himself a LOT of other powerful people would have been arrested and charged with the same crimes as Geddert did. It is very, very strange how the Geddert suicide put a complete stop on any more investigations of other coaches and executives.
