the more i see you travel, the more countries on my list to avoid. how your managing to keep so calm through India, i don't know, i would be such a nervous wreak.
middle age english trying to rationalise and question indian traffic is fun to watch but a futile exercise in logic
I would love to meet you but sadly I missed my chance when you were on vancouver island...
Always look forward to Sundays and watching your videos. Thank you for sharing them with us. 😊
You haven't indicated the speed you are going
I think Marianne deserves a gold star for her driving on this video. She is AMAZING!!!
What a road warrior Marianne is. Driving a stick shift in Indian traffic madness hours at a time. Hats off to her.
I love Indian music, what a treat! 👳🏼♀️🎶
I'm sorry you're getting so many whiny comments about the "boring" driving videos from viewers who don't understand you're on a deadline and must make good time, as China rejected the visa and you had to do a detour.... some people sure feel entitled to dictate youtubers on how to run their channels when they just have to sit there and enjoy the free entertainment you spend so much time filming and editing! 🤨🥴
The vast majority of us very much appreciate you, thank you for the privilege of taking us along on your world trip! ❤❤ 🙏🏼🐄 🦚
Gosh I don't find any of the videos boring. They are driving places I have never been. I LOVE IT.
its lie they have taken long and village routes insted of expressways how come u say deadline
😂
I have been watching you since Turkey. Now I am surprised to see that during your India trip you never mentioned the names of the towns on your path, not showing what you are eating, conversations with the locals etc. Try to include those please!
I Have to say that Marianne Did an Excellent job on that Driving,I Was a Professional Driver in the U.K for nearly 50 Years & Watching that Video I Ran out of Expletives ( Swear Words )🤬🤬 Once again Well done to Marianne !!!....💙💙
Lol. Brilliant comment.
That was nucking futs. Animals just wandering on highways. Dual carriageway way means whichever side of the road you think is quicker... I don't think they have a highway code. Mind you how many languages do they have in India, something would definitely be lost in translation...
Well done Marianne, not surprised you needed a lie down in a dark room after that. And to think I hate driving my 2023 plated Fiat Ducato chassis cab in Edinburgh...
I think you saved the best till last! I couldn't stop laughing at the antics of the other traffic - it explains a lot about what I encounter in a 3.5 ton truck for work on a daily basis trying to pick my way through some of the more "interesting" areas of Birmingham & the West Mids. Except what you encountered is obviously more extreme. Certain "traits" of drivers I encounter seem to have been copied from things we see in this video. You can't get stressed by it, you just have to laugh at it & just when you think you've seen it all some driver does something even more extreme! I reckon many seem to think they are still in Mumbai, not in UK. I usually just treat is as a challenge now, a bit of fun! Well done Marianne for coping with so many hours of it! Almost makes me want to try driving in India!
Loved the comment “ I need to lie down in a dark room” 😅 amazing traffic chaos 😂 well done Marianne. 🙏
What absolute carnage on those roads. After an hour I would park up and walk away from my vehicle, never to return!! Hats off to Marianne. ✴✴
“No wonder they’ve got yoga retreats” 😂😂😂
You need to make a shirt “I survived driving in India!” 😂 It’s madness!
Seeing all those vehicles with people riding on the roof makes me think you missed an opportunity to make a few rupees along the way!!! 😂
Absolutely loving your trip to Mumbai. Cannot believe what I'm witnessing, the guy holding the pole was such a laugh. Anything goes in that country. Dave
Marianne, you are a fantastic driver, I have been driving for 40 plus years and I wouldn’t fancy driving those roads.
I am on the edge of my seat during the whole India experience. Once again, a fascinating place, full if welcome people. Just too chaotic for me. Marianne is tge best driver EVER!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you.
We love watching your adventure and look forward to Sunday evening when we sit down and watch your weekly video.
I hope you are enjoying the journey although it must be very hard at times.
We wish you all the very best and a safe journey.
James and Honor.
That is the most intense, entertaining, inspirational, exhilarating trip I've been on with you guys. Now I'm exhausted! I can only imagine how you feel.
Wow Marianne, you are one intrepid woman. Great navigating Chris. My heart is still racing from your traffic gridlock! I hope that you had a good nap after all that. You deserved it.
I applaud Marianne's driving skills. We visited India this spring and Indian traffic was the single most incredible and anarchic thing we encountered there. I would never ever ever ever dare to drive a vehicle there. Well done you!!! (By the way, always fix the price of a guided tour or anything at all beforehand 😉 would be my advice to anyone who plans to travel to India.)
Chris, salute to Marianne for taking on the traffic mayhem. Thanks for taking us through the journey.
Stressed just from watching
I made the mistake watching this installment on my tablet, propped up on my bed because it's the coolest room in the plus 30°c temperatures we're having at the moment but I have found it so frustrating that I can't now get off to sleep. 🤔🤣 It's 12.15 and my head is still buzzing. I can't believe you haven't seen so many serious collisions that you're reduced to nervous wrecks. It's absolute madness. I've been a driver for over 50 years and until seeing your drive across India I thought the worst it could be was something like my experience of driving in Malta 20 odd years ago. I've always fancied going to India but I think I've changed my India. 😬😯
"I need to lie down in a dark room". That is when my husband would say this calls for chocolate and alcohol! You both are road warriors, love the videos. Thank you for showing me something I would never otherwise see. 💖💓💞
You two are amazing, what a team. Thoroughly enjoying your videos.
Thank you for sharing the adventures! So much patience!
You guys are super cool. Marianne is a fantastic driver and Chris does a great job of the camera work. India is my favourite country. I am an Aussie from down under and have travelled to India 26 times over 40 years. I started in 1984 with my late husband who also fell in love with India. I’m in my late 70’s now and still try to get to lndia twice per year. It is definitely like being on another planet. I had to drive once on the Grand Trunk Rd. 30 years ago before the tollways. I found it to be exciting and dangerous at the same time. If you ever get back to Gujurat half way from the Rajasthan border to Amedabad there is a place called Balisinor and you can visit the palace there and meet the Dinosaur Princess who is the custodian of 40 acres of land with Dinosaur remains still embedded in the ground. It is an ancient Dinosaur hatchery. It’s amazing. Princess Aaliya is a wonderful person with so much knowledge about the hatchery passed on from her late father. We were charged 500rps for a guided tour with the Princess for two hours and then lunch at the palace for 350rps ahead. It was about 5 different dishes and so tasty. I found her online by accident.
Keep up the great work and stay safe. Di
Marianne, I have cringed and prayed while watching you drive through India. I could absolutely never. My nerves would be shredded.
I'm guessing those asking about you as the driver are newer viewers. Those of us following you and Chris since your early days know your routine.
Safe travels to you both! Namaste. 🙏
You are right Marianne people are still in the dark ages and would expect the man to drive !!! You are a class driver and I would be happy sitting next to you even on those crazy roads lol… 🙌🫶
Those sacks prevent the concrete from drying out too fast and cracking. Cement needs moisture to properly cure and reach max strength
On the topic of the Indian highway code: I took a theory test in Thailand to get my license. There were no questions about signs, road markings or rules. It was all about strategies for not getting into accidents. There are three fundamental principles: do not hit anyone else; do not cause anyone to hit you; do not cause anyone to hit anyone else. Speed limits and signs are not observed but if there is an accident, they are taken into account when assigning responsibility.
Marianne behind the wheel makes me a happy ! Excellent driving and courage! Keep on doing what you're good at respectively and a million thanks for great videos one gets a lot of views of the places when you chose to show the time on the roads and that's positive! Namaste! Love you all 🚐❤❤❤
There's one thing that I've learned while watching your travels, and that's the fact that I will never be going to India! No offense to anyone from there, but it looks filthy with trash everywhere. And the crazy driving on those horrible roads would have me in a permanent state of panic. Oh, the ptsd I'd have!
Well done Marianne on taking on such confusion traffic. I LOVE DRIVEN BUT I COULDN'T DRIVE THERE IF YOU PAID ME TOO ... total mayhem.. think I will stick to UK driving. 👏👏👏
Hi Guys. This has become my Sunday afternoon Entertainment. I love the way you make your videos. It is just like being there minus the heat, dust ans smell. Chris is probably a better camera operator than a driver and Marianne was doing exceptionally well not putting a scratch on Trudy.
Some amazing driving skills Marianne ! what a drive India looks crazy !
That is traffic and driving like I've never seen it before..
Thank goodness in an hour's time I'll be driving to Strand Hill County Sligo , West of Ireland aalong almost empty roads and there won't be a lorry in sight 😂😂
That's smart to run the 360 cam for stops , keeps recording without pointing a camera in the face of people.
What an endurance drive and to keep so cheerful
What a brilliant driver though 😮
I for one, love the roadside videos. I almost feel like I'm a passenger, enjoying the chaos and the ride !
Hi Chris and Mario from Australia. You crack me up Chris with your comments. I think that traffic is sending you nuts 😂
Wow what a drive well done marianne 😊
In fairness I think regardless of who was doing all of the driving the question would still be asked 'why the other person does not drive'. Mainly because it a lot of driving and I for one find it tiring. Enjoying your travels. Well done on navigating the roads in India.
I was so exhausted watching the drive, it was amazing!
M- you are such a confidant driver and c - love your comments at M drives.
I am so enjoying your travels. I'll watch in the morning. Thank you.
Truly amazing , Now I am watching in the morning , from North East India ..... 😊🎉😊
I do the driving Marianne and my Hubby navigates we’ve been married 25 years and have done a lot of travelling. This became the norm after several arguments 🙃when we found our partnership equilibrium ! You’re a cool headed driver Marianne and Chris is a great co-pilot a superb team x
Well done Marianne for the drive and well done Chris for the amazing filming. 👏
I think it’s fabulous that Marianne enjoys driving ! Why not ? Chris does his part as well and it seems to work. Here’s to another 27 plus years together ! 🙌🏼🤟🏼🫰🏼
Thank you for taking us on your journey…. New Zealand. Also love your carefree personalities.
Both of you have huge level of positivity & patience...
Great content, would love to see some more of the everyday stuff you do while driving these long distances.
What do you do for breakfast lunch, how much is it? where do you go to the toilet? What do you drink during the trip and where do you buy it?
Marianne, you are 100% right about there would be NO questions if Chris did all the driving. You are an excellent driver--and manual shifting--takes skill on those Indian roads. I love watching your videos from the USA. #safetravels
We like to see where you stay. Missing that on this video.
Thank you for taking me somewhere I would never venture to. I felt like a stressed passenger in the back seat. Great driving. 😳
Marianne I have to hand it to you
Your driving is fantastic
Your husband must be so proud of you
The very best of luck ☘️on words
Hahahaha.....the spontaneous comments that the two of you made while trying to drive through the chaotic free for all no-rules traffic was hilarious!!😂 I am pretty sure Chris wet his pants a few times while Marianne calmly drove through all the mayhem!🤣The comments "no wonder they have Yoga retreat...." made by Chris was just classic!😝
According to Wikipedia, the peafowl (chickenus discotechia) *does in fact* originate from the Indian subcontinent! Wow, how about that!
With Mimi and I watching the video, that makes four of us total going "Whooaaahhh" over all those bumps! 😫😫 Good ol' trusty Trudy! 🚐💪
Liked all the safety signage! "Better 'Late' Than 'Never'" was my favorite. Doing the maths in my head, you guys were averaging 25 mph with the traffic and roadworks, etc. 😮💨😮💨 That concrete checkpoint chicane was a bit mad!
Wooph, after the last push into Mumbai, I wanted a stiff drink just watching! I settled for an ice-cold Diet Coke, though. ❤️❤️😎👍xx
Gongrats Marion, I would be curled up in the back sobbing uncontrollably, and wanting my mummy to sort things out for me 😭😭 and I live in Turkey!!!!
I survived the hour watching your vid and all the mayhem without a drop of sweat..good video, always wanted to do an auto trip in India so this was particularly interesting 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thanks from Canada. Sunday morning, sleep in, coffee in hand, a new episode of Tread the Globe to watch.
I have waited patiently for this next video!!! YAY! Here ‘tis. 👏👏👏👏👌👍
Marianne you are absolutely a gob smacking amazing driver in India. You never lose your cool, you embrace the adventure and you have mastered the skillful dance that is the Indian traffic… you are amazing !! I was born and bred in India so I am well versed with that dance and to watch you get into step and rhythm right from the get go, first time in India, driving at night you deserve a medal. It’s obvious how proud of you your husband is and so he should be. Well done! Hats off to you. Stay safe both of you and 🥂 to continued happy adventurers 🙏🙏 ❤❤
Hi Chris and Marianne enjoying your vlogs, apparently peacock is national bird of India
A country's streets and highways speak volumes about its citizens' education and value system.
“I need to lie down in a dark room” lol. Me too, and I’m just watching.
Hi,
You welcome to my place Kota, Rajasthan. You accept my hospitality by heart.
Great video thank for sharing. All the best and looking forward to next week video 👍
Marianne you’re an amazing driver! I love your music themes and just wish you had shown more of Kadi town which was my parents ancestral hometown Thanks for this amazing journey! 🙏🙏
In watching many videos of people traveling in India, I've come to the conclusion that there are so many people driving in India there's no way they can control them. They make their own rules, especially the lorry drivers, because they have a mission to deliver goods and cannot afford to be idle. Great job driving!👊😊👍
Greetings from Nova Scotia, Canada! Am new to your channel…..only the second video I have seen here. Knew driving was bad in India, but this had to be a whole other experience. Wow…..can’t believe you made it through in one piece…..congratulations! 👏👏👏
I like a bit of detail esp for road travels, eg a map with squiggly line on a map showing where you are at the moment of video. /a little clarity is nice.
I have been following you guys since pre covid and enjoyed most of what I’ve seen, however, the past 4 weeks have been painful, looking at the a__e end of a cow every 5 minutes and looking at what seems to be one big land fill site, safe journey and see you in the next country
Steve H
Hi guys it was really nice and fun meeting you yesterday here in Botswana,Kasane, Kwalape Safari lodge ❤❤❤😊
So nice to see the greenery!
That was the most stressful video I have ever watched. Jesus Lord, I may never visit. So glad you are safe!
absolutely amazing drive!
Love that quote and so so true !
I am so enjoying these videos in a country I can never hope to visit...but I must say the music is just hypnotic. I love it...minus the singing. It is the drum beat that grabs me. Beautiful. I am amazed at Marianne's driving skills...stick no less. Well done both of you.
This video series has been rough. I wish you both a better experience in the furure. Thank you both for showing us about your travels.
Hugs, Laura from, NH❤
Hi Chris and Marianne! I've been watching your journey since you two were in the parking lot waiting on COVID....India (to me) is by far the most insane part of your travels so far! I can't imagine the craziness, congestion, and smells you guys experienced. Glad you two made it out safely...I'm sure you guys loved your experiences. Thanks for taking us with you so we don't have to go 😃 Safe travels the rest of the way!!! Zman from US
Seriously - once again, you and Trudy have done an amazing job on the driving through India! From poor Trudy tackling pot holes and high-rise bumps to Marianne dealing with everything that moves on the roads - be it animal, human or on wheels, you’re doing marvellously! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Big up to you! Keep safe and trucking! 🚌🚌🚌
driver of the year
Congratulations guys - i love these videos and could watch all day. the only irritation i have - and it's not just on this channel - is the repetitive and too frequent ad breaks. I find them distracting and intrusive. I feel that YT is pushing this too hard and I'm beginning to look elsewhere for the entertainment I value.
Now that's what I call an epic drive as you both have nerves of steel to cope with the roads and bad drivers in India. I lived there for 1 year and all I can say is never again.
Excellent driving Marianne well done 👍 love the weekly update guys keep safe
I really admire you for the courage to make such trips. Hello from Thailand. ❤
I had a driver take me from Mumbai airport to Pune and it was 4 hours of chaos. Will definitely fly to Pune next time !
Great vlog ! I loved the lorry carnage 🤣👍
"No wonder they;ve got yoga retreats!" 🤣🤣🤣😅
Hello mates,Maxi from SF now in Texas..I've been watching your channel for awhile back in Thailand you gave Paddy a ride up north & now driving thru India, you are, Maryann a courageous patience driver& I pray a continued journey home safely & in good health..take care mates❤
If you can drive in India, you can drive anywhere in the world. For me, it's stressful when I drive there. Rules are flouted by everyone. Hats off to Marianne for driving a camper van in the chaos of India's roads. Marianne, I'm gonna quote the famous line from the Hollywood movie Rainman - You're an excellent driver. You'll enjoy your drive as you go further south towards Goa, Karnataka and Kerala. Chris will have a great time filming. Cheers ❤😊
they are shipping from Mumbai 🙄
@@CLFL14256 Yeah! Realized it after watching this later part. It's a long video so I watched it in installments. 😝 They should have covered the southern India rather than from up north where they had an unpleasant start to their India trip. Oh! Well.
Love it .
Watch out for the camel ❤
Thank ypu Chris for making these videos😊
I have been with you for your entire trip and I thought I had witnessed the worst roads and conditions for driving and then you arrived in India‼️ I do not know how you survived 10 minutes on those roads‼️‼️‼️
Im exhausted after the stress of that traffic! Another excellent video and now a whole week to wait. Love to you both from Australia. 🙏🏼🦘🥀👏
Now that really was insane driving....very well done the pair of you..Fingers crossed the next chapter brings you ...lets say not so insane traffic....Safe travels..👍👍🚙
That last leg was absolute insanity on steroids!!!! How you managed to needle yourself through that chaotic mess borders on the miraculous! So well done but it must have come at a price. Spent likely doesn't begin to cover it.
Hello there, good job Maryanne and Cris amazing you are still able to stay optimistic in India but made it all the way through yeah!! all the best good luck!.
Marian(?sp), I tip my hat to you! Your are an expert, adapt and overcome driver. As a retired truck driver, I would ride with you anytime.
Who would like to see what a full self-driving car would do in that traffic?
Your ideal car won't move an inch for sure...
It would decimate the Indian population.
It would be "frozen" lol
How true no way they will work in India.
I traveled India in the seventies. It has not changed at all. Crazy driving everywhere. Friendly people. Amazing that your van has been so reliable. I would be afraid to drive there. You guys are brave.😂 Thinking about attending your meetup. We'll see.❤
Madness, but you did it. Have you been stopping for coffee, food, and loo, or using Trudy on these long drives? Take care x
It seems that you and Chris have your "jobs" equally divided you drive , and exceptionally well,, and Chris does the videos etc, exceptionally well.... ❤❤ for both!!!
