My first hydrogen car! Is this the future?
0:18 No need to basically throw it 😕
Yes.
Mirai means future in japan soo theres this
It's clearly not the futur... not till you find an efficient way to create hydrogen
Hope not!
Imagine how much money toyota spend to develop such an amazing car. Credit to them for that
Why?
WHAT A THING OF BEAUTY !!!!
yes it's gorgeous!

Toyota never disappoints
So instead of using water and separating it into oxygen/hydrogen the byproduct of this car is water itself.
Certainly a very interesting set of machinery to keep an eye on! Especially since the push for all-electric vehicles would have a significant amount of battery waste. Which isn't very eco-friendly.
the biggest issue with this technology for the moment is the creation & distribution of the hydrogen itself... A lot of the hydrogen available today is produced using fossil fuel... it's complicated!
@@johnnypovdrives Indeed.
Hydrogen car also have battery
@@paperhouse6282 Yes like all other gas powered vehicles. But the main difference comparing all electrical cars to gas/hydrogen cars is the latter only uses one battery. And that's to start the vehicle.
If everyone suddenly went to all electrical vehicles the amount of battery waste would significantly increase.
Hope this clarifies it for you.
@@johnnypovdrives Makers of Hydrogen fuel cell cars are worried like if we find out the easy way to produce hydrogen then people will fill hydrogen at home, something like using niobium nitride OR titanium dioxide in presence of sunlight to split water into hydrogen and oxygen and then storing it in pallidum coin, as you know palladium absorbs hydrogen up to 900 times its weight.
Nice video!
Wow 😍 concept for future
It is a production car even, so futuristic... thanks for watching!

"High pressure tank under your seat"
Now thats not what I actually would like to have in my car.
Combustible gas/liquid in my car that's dangerous... oh wait... my current petrol car...
Ive seen the test videos... They fired gun bullets to those tanks..nothing happened!
Time will tell, but they are extensively tested in crash tests and have very substantial armor plating above them. It's the reason the tanks cost over $25,000 by themselves. I would have no issue with that. It's probably better than creating a lake of fire around the vehicle with gasoline in an accident. Or something like the current recall for Honda Ridgelines having the gas tank fall down and rupture while driving.
cant be worse than sitting on the top of a saturn 5
fired using 50mm bullets (Sniper) and did not explode. So it's very safe

Excelente vídeo! Esse é o futuro, carros movidos a hidrogênio, o problema é que o custo no início é muito alto. Vamos ver se no Brasil ele se adaptará bem.

0:18 thanks, now I understood how I have scratches on that place on my used honda.
So excited for this. I’ve always believed people must skip Electric as that poses it’s own environmental concerns which frankly can be greater than buying a second hand
It is a great technology. Hope the costs & storage issues for hydrogen will stabilise in the future & that we will see more fuelling stations.
You know it uses a lot more electricity to split out hydrogen atoms to then be used in a hydrogen car?
@@johnnypovdrives Except it's not. Hydrogen will always need more electricity to generate pure hydrogen, than you would need to power a battery EV. It's a physical limitation. If range is an objection to a BEV, I'd suggest a EQS or Lucid Air. Both will bring you further than this Mirai.
@@Jeroenneman You are correct, Hydrogen will always be more wasteful of renewable resources than putting that same electrical energy straight into the car. I know it does seem like a colossal environmental waste to build and put up 4 times more solar panels and wind turbines than if you just stored it in a battery. I still think H2 has its place, just not in the bulk of passenger vehicles.
@PrincE Hopefully you are right eventually. At the moment, the demand keeps going up along with the price. A quick poll of California FCEV drivers last week got the highest prices ever. $21.05/kg in Pasadena, $20.69/kg in San Diego, $18.90 in Santa Monica. Yikes. Imaging having a Mirai and getting only 66 miles on $21. or worse yet, a Nexo at 58 mi for $21. You might start looking at Hummers to save money.

Seems better than fully electric
No, isn’t…
1st of all nice video, I love the POV(Point of view) with no talking... You show everything about car so neatly that I can understand what you are referring to and obviously the sub titles do help... I think This Toyota Mirai is the real future because in the batteries like in EV cars, 1) A lot of cobalt material is broken 2) Then it goes through many stages 3) Then the battery cells are made with a lot of toxic material heating/burning 4) The battery does provide good life for long run, BUT 5) The problem comes in when it is recycled and broken down again and then remade, NO LONG PROCESS like in this Mirai
Thanks! Only thing is that this car also has a similar battery to store the generated power, some day that needs to be recycled too.
@@johnnypovdrives oh... I didn't know that... I thought the H2O electricity directly powers the electronics... Thanks for that... Appreciated

@@Rnaudts oh very interesting thank from cali🤞🏾🤞🏾
I'm actually surprised it has that much hp. But Toyota has been working hard getting their watts/liter up on their fuel cells. The problem with FCEVs having a lot of HP is they run on a combination of a li-ion battery and the fuel cell itself. The li-ion battery is only a small hybrid battery that doesn't have that much power output (as compared to a battery that's 50 times it's size in a full battery EV). Then there is the fuel cell and that's limited by volume. In order to double the output, you have to pass air across double the surface area of the cells which makes it twice as large. The fuel cell in the current Mirai can put out 128kW (170hp) and the hybrid battery can put out another ~10kW which is 13hp for a brief period. But in the end, I really question the 182 hp since it has a 0-60 of over 9 seconds, that's times of something with more like 130hp.

Muito obrigado! 🙏🙏🙏
Do we have hydrogen in abundances as is its extraction eco friendly
So very similar looking to the Crown?
They need to make this into a plug-in hybrid so that it can still be used in markets where there aren’t much hydrogen fueling stations.
I've thought of that too, the problem is the car will have no space for passengers. It's already the length of a full size sedan with the interior of a subcompact with the fuel cell chewing up the front end, the tanks chewing up the interior and the existing hybrid battery chewing into the trunk. You might be able to lift it higher and tuck a skateboard style battery underneath. As it stands, the Mirai is heavier than something like a Tesla Model 3 Long Range that has much more passenger and trunk space. Putting an additional 10kWh of battery to make it a plug-in hybrid would really make it heavy. Then there's all the other technical challenges like not covering the existing tanks. They are open to the bottom with blast shields above to allow for inspection and if they were to unexpectedly evacuate their contents in a hurry, it has a place to go without turning into a claymore mine. You could fill the rest of the trunk with more batteries but it would handle terribly. I'm sure a complete redesign could squeeze in more battery and the charger.
The new Hyundai concept is doing exactly that, it’s an EV combined with a hydrogen fuel cell 👌
@scott kolaya your comments are just next level, thanks for being on my channel, I’m learning stuff! 👌😄

@@muhammadhanifkurnaen6689 I didn't know, thanks for the comment!
How often do you come across a hydrogen fuel station though?
Love the contrast of the futuristic Mirai and the random horse and buggy going by. We have come a long way! Personally more interested in a hydrogen vehicle rather than an a BEV. Better cold weather performance and similar experience to a conventional car. "Charging" infrastructure footprint is smaller too due to short refuel times. Not to mention any fuel leak will result in hydrogen gas rapidly dissipating away from the car. Much safer than gasoline leaks. And unlike BEV fires, hydrogen fires can actually be put out with relative ease. People like to point out that hydrogen vehicles aren't as efficient as ones powered by batteries but they seem to leave out that FCEVs are about twice as efficient as those powered by ICE and fossil fuels which is a massive improvement in its own right. Not to mention BEVs are heavy, eat tires, cause more road wear and are more deadly to others in collisions. Don't let Elon convince you otherwise: BEVs are not a one size fits all solution. They do some things very well but they have very real downsides too. Toyota was smart not board the hype train like many automakers are doing now. Same with Hyundai.
bullshit. Just bullshit…
It’s a shame there are hardly any filling stations in the UK. I don’t know if anyone who has one except James May, and he sold his!
It seems batteries are the only thing for the future of driving.
Best car hydrogen
Toyota is taking the lead with hidrogen cars, I have more faith in hidrogen cars than evs. Price is quite exepensive for the moment.
No, Toyota were just the last ones recognizing that hydrogen doesn‘t have any future in cars or trucks.
Is this car use water instead oil ?
for a full tank how many kg of hydrogen is needed ??.
Creo que costará una fortuna.
The only only only thing why many potential buyers avoid Mirai is only sedan version. When Toyota eoulf make at least hatchback or station wagoon or versatile "cross" station wagoon like Subaru Outback or Skoda Superb Scout..., the sales would multify
A Mirai station wagon would be EPIC!
Can you make video about kia ev6 electric
I would love to, but I can't get an answer from KIA, still waiting, must contact them again because I love that car
Ah ok think you
I was sold on these initially but the more I think about it the EV is definitely more pro humanity. Especially the power wall from Tesla turning homes into energy hubs. Not having to rely on a third party to create H2 but have your home as your own fuel station reliant on the sun. Think about the benefits for those in remote villages etc!
I’m trying to make my own hydrogen in the basement as we speak. 🤓 We can’t have a decent solar panel installation because of the trees around our house. But good points!
Not to mention autonomous driving, which hydrogen cars dont have.
How much do you pay for hydrogen in Belgium?

How much is it?
fuel of future, you r in future
yes, we're in 2030 already, the future looks bright!
Это реально будущее
Будущее покажет
My prediction for the future is that hydrogen will replace diesel and battery will replace gasoline / hybrid engines.
That would be nice. I hope the range can go up a little if it has to replace diesel, the Audi A8 I tested last month had a range of over 1,000 km, this Mirai not even 500 km.
Yes, obviously it will take a long time until FCEV tech catches up to diesel. One thing is for certain though, and that is that battery electric will never work with heavy-duty commercial vehicles, ie trucks. For that sole reason, I hope that Toyota will keep developing fuel cell tech, even if the Mirai continues being a fiasco.
Haha no way. Hydrogen for cars is dead end.
I had my Mirai for around a year. I driven the car just under 10K. I average around 365 miles per tank for the pass year. I never reached 402 miles per tank as advertised except for one time on my way back to San Francisco from Los Angeles. It was mostly stop and go traffic. The weather was perfect where we didn't need the air conditioning. We used the active cruise control at Eco mode. We had around 425 miles per tank. We drafted behind many semi trucks which helped a lot. But it took a long time. The second time we traveled the same route. The temperature was over 90F degree and drove normally. We got 376 miles per tank. I hope this helps.
@@94116tlee brilliant , Any fuel that cuts our import tax is better let it be Hydrogen or battery electric. This inflation needs to be curbed one way or the other.
