I mean I didn't dislike that movie but I watched it when I was like in HS. I watched the trailer for it again and yeah didn't seem that great in hindsight, The issue is he built his audience on a specific demographic which is black American women. Of course some action thriller wasn't going to appeal to them. Also the acting in the movie was kind of cheesy and cliché. When you are making movies where you characters are mostly stereotypes then you can get away with cliché.

How to write a TP movie
1) Have a Struggling BW as the lead
2) Villain: Dark Skin husband or boyfriend or friend
3) Hero: Light Skin dude who probably works a 9-5 job with low income at best
4) Make sure someone is abused or cheated on to the point they break up. Add a couple of detectives to give it some Law and Order type of feel.
5) Make sure the villain shows back up at the same house or appartment where the BW shoots him then the cops shows up out of thin air...
Oh for a little razzle dazzle: make sure to add some church scenes to give hope to the BW

I will watch this...I just saw think like a man..I watch Jennifer Lewis Ruby Dee Abby Lincoln Jeanne Crain just a lot of 40 abd 50 movies...I love great acting. Just saw to kill a mockingbird and couldn't stop crying ..great movie. Madison Bridge...Clint never fails. .
The times we are in now, more upbeat, inspiring, comforting, heck comedic films will be more appreciated. This story has been done over and over and over again. The only thing I am pleased to see is some of my favorite actors. I will not be viewing this one, I've seen it already.

Until the narrative you keep portraying becomes inexistant, continue fighting against it.
This may feel redundant or repetitive for those who are not experiencing it but for the victims still in these cycles, this is necessary until they get a voice and strength. I love 🥰❤️everything Tyler Perry has made and have watched everything. If you don't want to watch then don't. 👀 Tyler gives Black people opportunities and jobs all while producing real life and interesting films. Be proud of the Black man he is and stop hating. I don't think you understand how detrimental to the black community what you are suggesting really is. You have 2-3 Generations of black women who have been watching these movies fore decades at this point. I get wanting to highlight domestic violence but after the tenth straight movie on it you are no longer highlighting, you are programming and teaching generations of women to not trust men and to not want to get married. You shape their perceptions to think this is what marriage is, subjecting yourself to constant abuse. This is not what black people need, we need more marriage not less.

People need to understand that Tyler Perry comes from very dark and abusive beginnings. This reflects in his movies . It’s almost therapeutic for him on some level. There’s more to this than you all know.
We’ve seen every moment 100 times. It’s always the same movie tropes.

There are plenty of happily married couples , but when you thrive off of toxicity. The happily married stories don't get told or put in movies..

Tyler wouldn't do that, he has to pacify his female base, they dint want to see themselves as the villian....their ego demands they always be virtuous

Country music offers a variety in perspective. Tyler Perry movies does not. There's a current false narrative that "all black men are shit" - trust this is believed in every culture around the globe. Tyler Perry is the lead propagator and reinforcer of this message. It's inaccurate and extremely damaging. The more we expose ourselves to this narrative the more it feels true. I wonder if women who love Tyler Perry movies also love black men? Given a chance to study it, I'm willing to bet there's strong correlation between fans of his films, and those who uphold the black men are trash narrative. While trash black dudes do very much exist, they are very over represented in media leading to a stereotype imposed in all of us.
I'm not mad that TP is successful, but definitely upset he chooses to push the same one sided perspective.
