Ok, now can you clean it up and put a diaper and clothes that fit on? I'm a med professional in the US and the way you people do these babies is unreal. Every video I have seen, there is nothing sanitary whatsoever. Nurses with bracelets on touching the newly born and you know they aren't clean. These videos really make me sad. You people need to be educated. Also why do you put that stuff that looks like cleaning oil all over the skin? Did you know that it's best for the baby to not actually wash the baby until the next day. That vernix is actually good for the babies skin just like leaving the placenta attached for a few hours. The way you handle the babies is ok if you were sanitary. They need to be roughed up a little bit to make them cry. Crying clears the lungs and they need to cry but they need to stay with their moms for at least an hour after birth because it is good for the the baby. They need to lay on her belly for warmth and they will really crawl on her belly to find her breast and will automatically start drinking the much needed colostrum that is like liquid gold to a newborn. I don't approve of you people putting babies in roasting pans after birth and wiping them off with cotton. It is extremely backwards there and I think your medical director needs to come to the USA and learn how to take care of mom and baby after birth. They need to be together as soon as the baby comes out. (Unless there is an emergency with either the baby or mom,). You just need some education on cleanliness and how to take care of a newly born baby properly. Thank you. The baby is precious by the way!
The fact that you find all the activities in these videos unreal, shows how far they are from what an ideal NICU should be, and how unprofessional is their behavior.
That's is so good to see that someone is concerned about this thing. You deserve to be all informed. Here the situation is more pathetic than what you see on the screen. All the facilities which you see is provided free but it is the maximum we could afford . These poor people are in a very bad situation due to poverty, limited resources they even couldn't find something good to eat or to put on. Comparing it with USA health care is not at all suitable. They are in extremely poor condition and extremely limited resources. You will be surprised and sad both at the same time if I explain every details these people go through. Thank you for you kind concern.
I'm a bit confused. you describe skin-to-skin and kangaroo care, and yet you say that babies should be roughed up and made to cry. Those two ways of handling a newborn don't go together. I never heard that a baby should be crying all the time, and that you should hit them to stimulate their cry. In fact what i had to deal with as a caregiver is trying to calm colicky or irritable infants that are driving their parent's crazy, and I have seen mothers going through the skin-to-skin and early breastfeeding and i haven't heard a pediatrician, nurse or midwife (i come from a midwife family) advice the mother to hit or pinch the baby to encourage crying.
You do not sound like a professional to me! Different countries have their own way of doing things and you should respect their practices and refrain from being so opinionated!!!
