- A Close look at the HMT Pilot White and the HMT Pilot Blue dial watches with Arabic numbers. Exact model numbers PILOT WHITE NP LS and PILOT BLUE NP LS. The HMT Pilot watch was a path breaking and one of the biggest hits when launched in 1970s. This HMT White Pilot was has a very elegant look with a guilloche pattern in the middle of the dial with beautiful chrome blue hands. The Blue HMT Pilot has silver colored hands. The numbers are large for good legibility and hence its called a Pilot watch. The lume of HMT pilot White and Blue is also good as compared to other HMTs. HMT Pilot watches come in colors ranging from Yellow, Blue, Maroon, Green, White, Black and with and without Arabic numerals in the 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions. It is a mechanical winding watch with a 0231 movement, steel case, leather, steel strap and a stainless steel back cover.
The hmt pilot watch is an iconic watch as it was a big success when launched in the 1970's in India. The HMT White Pilot had also got a limited edition variation of 500 watches, with matt blue hands. In the year 1961, HMT set up a watch manufacturing Unit at Bangalore in collaboration with M/s Citizen Watch Co., Japan. The first batch of Hand Wound Wrist Watches manufactured here was released by the then Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. The most popular mechanical hand-wound watch is HMT Janata. There are also other mechanical watches like HMT Pilot, HMT Jhalak (Semi Skeletal), HMT Sona, HMT Braille.

Hello, unfortunately I do not have the Karna in my collection but I believe it is around the same size as the HMT Sona which is bigger than the Pilot. HMT watches have been in production for close to 60 years and their movement is known to be super reliable as many 30-40 year old watches still run well. Hence I would say these are very hardy and long lasting watches.
