This was abuse and very triggering for me. If it were any other color, she would not have been pressured into doing this. Redheaded children should never be adopted by non-redheaded mothers. In fact, they should be taken away from non-redheaded birth mothers. I am a redhead. My mother was jealous, verbally abusive, psychologically abusive, and financially abusive. She deliberately ignored physical abuse on me from other people, including my siblings. None of these behaviors were exhibited towards my other siblings...all brunette. In my 40s, I started discussing this abuse with other redheads. Turns out, even children with redheaded mothers often suffered the same abuse and discrimination. But, we are dismissed and invalidated.

The wig story! I am someone with very long thick, beautiful hair. I love my hair. My hair and my eyelashes are the two things I actually like about myself. I donate my hair every couple of years because it grows back quickly but I get to choose how much I cut off. And it's kind of crazy that the aunt expects this girl to cut off not just a small portion of her hair but ALL of her hair. ALL of it! My identity is firmly attached to my hair and I 100% get where this girl is coming from. Everybody has that one thing about themselves and that's okay. For anyone wanting to do a slumber party for younger kids, here's some really simple tips to help keep them feeling comfortable and secure in an unfamiliar environment:
    1) have at least a little light in the room the kids are sleeping in. i've used fairy lights, christmas lights, and even electric candles. trying to sleep in an unfamiliar place where you can't see very well can be really disorienting for anyone, especially little kids.
    2) leave the bathroom light on with the door cracked open. at least one kid is gonna wake up in the middle of the night needing to pee, and having an easy way to find the toilet is way better than having to help a kid who's embarrassed at having wet the bed at a friend's house. if the bathroom the kids will be using isn't very close to the room they'll be sleeping in, have a flashlight/electric candle/portable light nearby that they can take with them to the toilet.
    3) group sleeping arrangements. lay out a whole pile of pillows and blankets on the floor, or even camping mats (foam rolls or air mattresses, if you have access to them) with pillows and blankets on top. if kids are sleeping in a new environment, they usually feel more secure when they're close together.
    hope this is helpful!

Couple stories got my attention- The hair one first. Holy CRAP that makes me angry and sad for that poor girl!! That family is awful. I really hope her bio-fam turns out to be good people and that she gets some distance from that toxic bs.
Second one was the twins- holy drama! LOL Ok disclaimer, I am a mom of (now adult) kids, and I *felt* that worry "Omg what if everyone goes home and our kids have a bad time..."
It's amazing how much more parents worry about what their kids will experience vs what the kids actually care about. We try so hard to make good experiences for them and worry so much about screwing that up... Because we love our kids. Ok maybe for some people it's about competition but it sounded like OP was sincerely worried about whether "copying" the other party would cause drama among the kids.
In any case it was kind of funny and fun to hear one that wasn't so serious.

bruh, to everyone telling this teenage girl shes TAH for being so hesitant about giving up her hair to make a wig for her aunt are TAH themselves. that hair is on HER body, it is HER decision what to do w/ it. like she said, she wouldve considered giving up her hair if she was asked, but her mom just made the decision on the spot in front of, not just the aunt, but the whole family. the poor girl felt pressured and obligated to keep quiet because this family was kind enough to adopt her, plus her aunt looked so happy at the mere thought. this adopted family sounds semi-toxic ngl, considering she said this isnt the first time she was pressured into things and isnt often given a choice in matters. it feels like shes being treated more like an accessory than a human being, but maybe it just sounds worse than it is because OP was specifically talking about the negative and didnt go into too much detail about how the family treated her as a whole since her adoption. i'm kinda pissed her family and a bunch of random strangers pressured her into making this decision, and now she took a hit to her self-esteem. yes, hair does grow back over time, but that doesnt change the fact she was forced to cut all her hair against her will

The sleepover saga has to be one of my favorite stories you've ever read. It made me absolutely giddy hearing how much she loved her babies and wanted them to be happy.
I also wanna add that her wanting to use ideas isn't necessarily trying to one-up the other party. Kids that age LOVE repeated events and games. It's why there are so many re-runs of preschooler and kids shows. Doing something fun they love AGAIN?? That's awesome! So borrowing ideas is fine. Plus if she could tell that her boys loved those activities, why not do it again?

And I kno everyone is thinking she had been cheating but no. She actually hadn't... *however* some 40+ years ago, when her and her husband were newlyweds she did cheat. Like 3 months in. She felt guilty and ended things. He had not suspected at all! However, despite the pleas from everyone (remember it happened 40+ years ago) to stay with the wife. The husband was adamant that he could not stay with her. It didnt matter that he had never suspected. It mattered that she did cheat. He never had.

let me add: that is to edition to the fact that the WIFE fucked it up, lied to her husband and played ot and the fault is on HER!

The last story. I would want to know why the friend felt it was her place to confess someone else’s so called sin? What was her real motive. To toss a marriage away because of a mistake while they had only been dating for 4 months is ridicules. Who throws away a 14 yr long marriage for a drunken episode so long ago? I hope the so called friend is happy with her choice.

The girl who cut off all her hair for her aunt's wig I feel really bad for her because I know the feeling of not liking how your hair feels I'm a guy with long hair and I got it cut Too Short a while ago and I hated it for a month until it felt normal but I still hated how it looked until it grew back recently

The hair story makes me kind of worried for the 17 year old girl because most people would think hey it's only hair it'll grow back it's not the point what else are they willing to force her to try to give people first it's hair then it's going to be money

Story 3: people were offering to donate their red hair too so it wasnt like there werent options! For some freaking reason it had to be her hair? I agree it sounds like they just did it because they could get her to do it. The other fact that the aunt 1. Did this to herself and it was something she could have controlled 2. SHE BOUGHT ANOTHER WIG which was the whole reason for the issue is that she didnt want to buy one! 3. Said she would switch wigs based on outfits clearly shows how grateful she was for her "neice's" emotional sacrifice. Screw that family.

Story 3 OP got the absolute WORST reddit feedback. The whole situation with her mom, aunt, and her hair is so disgusting and disappointing.
OP finally relents and gets her hair shaved off, and the aunt suddenly decides she is fine buying a faux blonde wig and will even rotate between the real red and fake blonde to coordinate with her outfits?
    Talk about a choosy beggar.
My heart breaks for this poor girl. I hope she can develop a good relationship with her bio family once she turns 18 and dips out of her entitled adopted family; they have absolutely no respect for her on any level.

With the last story i want to make something clear for all. Forgiveness and trust are 2 different things. He may have already forgiven her for the cheating, but he isnt a fool. His trust was broken and there for left his wife. There can be no strong and lasting relationship without trust people.

Sleep over party, I think its less about wanting to throw a better party and more so to avoid the stress that calling a bunch of parents between 9-10 at night to pick up their children. And OP had the right idea going on, video game competition nerf war, and hot tub are good methods to tire out a bunch of hyped up 8-9 year olds to where they will sleep through the night. They also had the right idea by avoiding a completely dark room that could scare any of the kids. However, there always seems to be one kid that just cannot sleep well outside of their home environment and that is okay. I am also one of those people and have to take comfort items to get any form of sleep.

The hair story……so because the aunt smoked and got cancer, but still smokes, you have to go bald so AUNT doesn’t have to? WTAF! HELL NO! I might have donated 1/2 of my length since they have to mix in other people’s hair. She was crying because wigs were too expensive and she didn’t want a fake hair wig…..so she all of a sudden buys a blond wig to change up her style!!!! I’d have snatched my hair back after the wig is made and wear it myself!

The slumber party thing... oh I have done it. And my god what was I thinking??? But the trying to not do exactly what was at the other party us more for the kids. Her sons would have been laughed at for "copying" the other party exactly. It's stupid. But kids are cruel little turds. So mom wanted her sons and friends to say "He y it was great!!" If it bombed then the birthday child would be so humiliated. School is hard enough. Adding a failed party to it would be just awful. It wouldn't look bad on mom. The child would get the ridicule. As I said, kids are mean.

For the girl with the red hair, she should have said NO. Period. The end.
You do not get to control other peoples bodies. You do not get to force your kids to donate a kidney, or blood, or anything else.
Hair grows back, yes. But it is alson not like it was needed for the aunt. Who also had a wig already. It was not the moms place, or anyone elses place, to make an offer of this girls hair, and especially messed up it the aunt, and everybody else, simply nlt checking what the girl wanted.
If i were that girl, and the family made a DEMAND for this, id have chopped it off to a length that they would not be able to make a wig from, alone, or done so.ething else to prevent it.
Again, so many red flags for that family.

She cheated on you 14 years ago before you were engaged before you were married you’ve had 14 glorious years of marriage. You have a daughter and you’re gonna throw that all away for something that happened before you were even married. You are such a delicate little flower, aren’t you.? I’m suppose you’re absolutely perfect. You’ve never done anything to irritate your wife or anything you shouldn’t have done in your entire life. I do not condone infidelity myself, but get over yourself. You’re gonna ruin your daughters life for something that happened way before you were married.
