Same here. Last SNL crew that I liked ? Piscopo, Gross, Kazurinski, Murphy, Hall, Louis-Dreyfus, Duke, ect..... Even Farley & Co. were a slog at times- cringe, which is useful in comedy....But cringe without the funny ? That was them more times than not & Farley was their saving grace more times than not. David Spade was decent sometimes, too. But the Second City troupe ? They were consistently good/great. SCTV never fizzled- they went out on top, to be sure !! 🚬😎
Same! Even as a kid, I always liked SCTV much better than SNL! I could just tell it was much smarter & funnier, and there wasn't a single unfunny/bad member of the cast - they were all equally brilliantly funny!
Andrea Martin is so underrated. Perini Scleroso is one of my all time favorite SCTV characters. How great is it to be able to see all this classic stuff again? I remember watching the original broadcasts 30 years ago!!!
I remember watching SCTV when I was around 21 years old (ages ago!). TO THIS DAY, at the name of Turkey, I still giggle "Murkey" under my breath! And I think my love of leopard came from Edith Prickley!
Her timing with a single word was great and they did play off each other perfectly. I met Joe Flaherty once outside a store and I was unable to bring back all of the shows that I loved so much and dump them on him (I didn't want to be fan typical and fawning). He said, in a very thoughtful manner that he thought that "some of the material held up over time" Yeah, to say the least!!
Any Kids in the Hall fans? I loved KITH back in the day & when I started watching SCTV recently Guy’s voice was familiar. Dave Foley sounds so much like him as the fat, balding boss in AT&Love & to a lesser extent in the “Daddy Drank” skit. He also looks like him as Bruno Ponce Jones. Just like him minus the wheelchair. KITH is great, Foley is great! Just cool to see the influence of SCTV.
Dont know if Andrea could be considered underrated. She played some zany characters. That southeastern European character seemd to come naturally to her because of her background. But what a show and group of actors/actresses
Always loved you Andrea, growing up as a kid in Toronto, unfortunately you could never get away with a skit like this in today's atmosphere, (unless you did it again in CDN where we still have a great sense of humor 😂😂😂)
The character Guy Caballero is supposed to be a Cuban immigrant who escaped from Communist Cuba with his family to Canada and became a Canadian citizen. I am Cuban by birth but came as a 2month old baby to America in 1956 with my family. Cuban males have a well deserved reputation of being eccentrics. In my case, I would like to portray Thurston Howell the 3rd in a movie version of Gilligan's Island.
Andrea Martin's character Pirini Scleroso genius, that could have been a thirty minute sitcom, Perini is just as funny or better than Andy Kaufman's Latka on Taxi.
I still adore that show. Funniest show ever on the airwaves. Much better than that 3 C, P, TV (CCCP) show "What fits inside of Mother Russia" though Pepi Longsocks was a delightful Children's show.
Stopped watching SNL years ago but never got tired of SCTV reruns. Thanks Canada 🇨🇦 👍‼️
SNL was Mad Magazine. SCTV was National Lampoon

Same.

I agree...loved when Andrea did Edith Prickly too....hilarious! :D
@@willyboy6126 She's my second favorite member after Catherine O'Hara.
Duh! Closer to 45 years ago. 1976.
SCTV was a television gem, the likes we'll never see again. Thanks for posting!
Very true , five stars
That whole show was underrated. And that's PRE-Martin Short seasons.
"I assure you she's from somewhere." lol

I always wondered if she was eating a "murkey" sandwich in this sketch.
That's a side of the illegal alien debate that I never considered. I miss SCTV.

Strangely relevant
thats what i was thinking...
I’ll never understand why they can’t work out a deal with Netflix or HULU, and get this show streaming.
This will never happen again and we'd got to enjoy it. Count Floyd on Monster chiller horror theatre. Johnnhy Larue on and on.
This show was great it gave us John Candy. Very off beat Loved it.
I loved that show. I first saw it on TV about 1977l
@R Williams Same here!
they were so much funnier than saturday night live has ever been.......brilliant cast
Too hysterical
Caw een, caw een!
Joe Flaherty....😢...talented...part of our collective pasts....thanks for the guy...GUY.....🎉..........
perini scleroso and Edith Prickley.....
RIP, Joe Flaherty...
Epic!
NBC should stop running their SNL dreck and pay to run SCTV shows on Saturday night.
Rest in Power, Joe Flaherty. 🙏🏾 Thank you for the belly-aching laughs! 🥲
Love SCTV. Never gets old.
Hahahahaha!
She's from Murky!
Bawwwwk Bock Bock Bock
Took forty years but her English really improved and she became a demon-slaying nun.
Edith prickly.....forever 🎉.......
FROM!! YEAH!!!
Murkey? What the hell is Murkey! You mean Turkey! HAHAHAHAHA!!!😎
Perini Scleroso, AKA Mrs. Itaraka Sné :-)
Thank you.

That's about it and quite hilarious.
"Murky? What the hell is "murky"?
Hopefully one day I’ll get to see murky… good times!!
Send a postcard!
there's no such country as Merky!!

Sctv could’ve never survived today’s cancel culture. Guy in a wheel chair. Edith making fun of immigrants. Im so glad I enjoyed these in the 80s.
genius ad lib
RIP Joe Flaherty 🙏🏾 ❤️
Sounds like a language barrier here.
Rest in peace, Joe.
She's from Turkey, apparently.
there you are, in front of your mirror again
Did SCTV purposely cover up the tete-a-tete Guy was having with Perini? Like make it murkey an' crap? eh?
Is he based on Lee J Cobb?
RIP Joe
This is so fake. She speaks English and he doesn't need a wheelchair.
😆
Busted!
You silly...that's part if the humor. I guess you have no sense for it.
I HATE COMMERCIALS!!!!.........!!!!
Trump could learn a lot from Caballero.
Last Angry Geek .funny shit. Used to love this and Benny hill
