You play too aggro early game for mundo. You kinda have to turn off brain and get to warmogs + ruby asap. Sometimes getting a kill can set you back if you get bad wave state.

If you play gnar into this warmogs rush mundo, and build heartsteel first, bork second it completely counters it. I have done it 4 times and mundo just can't play. You use his in lane sustain against hi and perma stack HS off him and you are still able to threaten him because of mini gnars W, then after you get bork its just over. these were plat games but I feel like if an even more skilled gnar played this match up it would go even better.

E max isnt very good option. Mundo is one of the weakest champions early game, your Q is your only weapon to deal with it cuz enemies want to harass you and keep you far away from wave. 3 Q then max E is the best order
