- A guitar, violin, keyboard and strings cover of "Undertale" from the game Undertale. It is heard when you reach the area called "New Home". It's also the same motif used in the track "His Theme".
This track right here is what made me take the Undertale soundtrack to a new level of seriousness. The song is deceptively simple and repetitive, but the multiple layers and nuances of the entire arrangement itself is masterful.
I did my best to replicate this atmosphere with different instrumentation. I hope you like it!

Reminds me of my first time, i tend to get emotional with videogames so when i, bit by bit, step by step, found the tragic story of the monster kingdom out, while
The game used to encourage you all along, with much talks about dermination, and there it is, when you go to save your game there are no more talks.
Then it goes deeper: this beautiful melody starts playing, and it lets monsters appearing in "random" encounters tell you their backstory, there is where your determination as a player starts to flicker. (encounters that are completely scripted and not random at all actually, and no encounter music is played, this melody keeps going uninterrupted, the climax is building)
It flickers more and more until you're filled with sense of guilt. You thoroughly know there is going to be a battle with "their King", but right before it, the games gives way to second thoughts.
Then this line comes, that's where i lost it and cracked down crying like a baby, admiring the power of this beautiful game.
I was like: "stop playing with my feelings toby"
Never really got this. They do realize you're the human, right? That's why everyone is telling you the backstory of the kingdom. I can get why THEY'D be excited and happy about being able to go to the surface, but why would YOU be? You'd have to die for Asgore to free everyone, so why would you be excited or happy?
If your having a bad day just listen to this it will warm your heart

So when I first played Undertale, I recently lost my father and I was in a really bad emotional state. I was all fine up until New Home. It was at this part that I had to stop for a while because hearing the tale of Asriel brought me to such emotion that I had an emotional breakdown and cried for what seemed like hours. It didnt help that Asgore not only looked but acted alot like my dad. Ever since then I couldnt listen to the New Home song without getting tears in my eyes. This was a beautiful rendition and thank you so much for making these covers.

GCNMatt If you haven't looked into Undertale as of my replying, you *definitely* should. It goes on sale on Steam for about 7 dollars and is usually 10. If you're at all interested, just buying and playing it without any information beforehand is the best option.
Exactly. When I was thinking about buying the game, I watched Pewd's let's play... The whole beginning was instantly ruined, so I stopped the video and bought UnderTale... Best 67 hours of life to this moment, lol

I always wonder what they meant by that.
Is it that they're talking about how they're going to get out?
Or how we're going to be free of life? (Because, let's face it, both your starting gear and some subtle hints from Asriel kinda hint at Frisk having a shitty surface life).
That part always gives me chills. It really humanizes the monsters and reminds you how they've all been hoping for this to happen for so many years, and it's up to you to fulfill their dreams or not.

I like this version of your Undertale cover more, it's different from the version that appears on Strings of Determination Vol. 3 - this feels more...complete, it has more to it...More of what I wanted on the album version of this song, really.

Hands down my favorite song and favorite bit of the game. If you're fully invested and press on whenever the story dialogue lets you, the music is timed perfectly to the story being told.

I have high expectations for remixes of Undertale, because this was probably the song that gave me the strongest emotions when I played through the game (next to His Theme).
This is exactly what I would want from a remix of this particular song. The buildup is just as good as the original, maybe even better. Very very good job on this one.

Ya know, listening to this, I can smell the air of the summer of 2017 (for context, that's when I first bought and played the game). Idaho summers are always dry, and even in winter at the time of righting this, I can distinctly feel the dry, heavier air of summer. I was in a different house at the time, but I can pick out the smell of that house now. Fond memories are a strange thing, huh?
