- Waltz which Franz Schubert is believed to have played on Leopold Kupelwieser's wedding on September 13, 1826. According to the notes, the music was never written down by the composer, but passed on from generation to generation by ear. Finally in 1943, Mautner Markhof (born Kupelwieser) asked the composer Richard Strauss, a friend of the family, to transcribe it. The composer rose galantly to the task, adding a few refinements of his own, as Schubert connoiseurs are quick to point out.
Piano: Aldo Ciccolini - Hudba
I've heard this waltz recently and I find it absolutely delightful. It has Schubert's signature all over. The lovely melody that you can sing all along so tenderly, with a slight touch of longing melancholy. I love it.
