He was killing Justin bieber's clones all along
He is actually right ,
In silent hill everyone see different things based on their proyections
yeah in SH2 the little girl was never in any danger because she was innocent and had no fear of these "monsters"
True, but he really was trolling Heather!
not in this case, he's messing with heather's head
That extends to real life as well
tell me you started playing with sh2 without telling me. SH1 are projections of heather's psych that everyone else sees.
Vincent was just creepy overall... I'm just glad he was (kinda) on Heather's side.
still a moron, he still doesn't understand the truth
he was never on her side , he's the one that tried to have her killed and when he couldn't tried to use her to kill Claudia because he didn't want God summoned
@@dakotamabry1645 That's why I said "kinda." He tried to have her killed, but they both wanted to kill Claudia... So he had Heather execute their common goal
I’d say he was on no one’s side, he would just side with anything that would benefit him. If killing Heather would’ve stopped the birth of God I think he’d easily send someone to kill her. Lol that’s the thing he’s super narcissistic and wouldn’t like getting his hands dirty. He’s a master manipulator haha.
@@cute_polly he always seemed like a creepy dirty old man to me (shivers).
Fun fact, M. Ito, the monster designer, has said the enemies appear to be different for every person in Silent Hill. For example when James sees the abstract Daddy, he sees something very different from what Angela sees. It is also the reason that pyramid head shouldn't be seen by anyone other than James. The missionary was just an Order assassin to Claudia. Laura and Cheryl, in their times in Silent Hill, never saw monsters, they saw people. I wonder what Vincent saw.
wasnt that just for SH2? For SH1 and SH3 the monsters are Alessa's influence so everyone sees the same thing
@@starberry22 in sh3 it could be different seeing as Heather doesn’t know her true identity so isn’t deliberately projecting the manifestation out to everyone?
@@starberry22 For 1, yes. Then again, in 1, the other people while real, are actually there to represent psychological things; Dr. Kauffman represents Harry's unconscious mind; he's debating with himself. Have you noticed how similar they look? Two sides of the same coin. There was a real Dr. Kauffman. It really isn't likely Harry ever met the real one. The 'other side', until he's on his way to the Lighthouse, is just in his head.
For 3, they are influenced by Heather as well. As an example, Alessa's influence on the Closer is a large 'adult' female with massive hands that beat her as a child, like an abusive mother. Heather's influence, especially if you saw some of the concepts, objectify and sexualize the creature too, addressing fears that a teenage woman has about impossible beauty standards such as full lips bloated with botox, impossibly long legs, short skirt, fleshy stilletos, a long phallic-like neck (I won't say why), and a tight shirt emphasizing the chest with stylized hair. However the Closer was toned down but kept the more subtle bits.
Meanwhile, Vincent didn't really see monsters. And Claudia sees angels. As for Douglas, he doesn't seem to see any of it.
It's true what u say, did u remember a flying bat in Silent Hill 1 it's gone now, because only Harry Mason can see it
@@starberry22 8 think it was in 3 they made this far more apparent because Claudia, Heather and Vincent are most likely not seeing the same things.
Whereas in silent Hill 2 it feels like everyones psychological trauma manifests and they all share it for the most part or rather it vleeds intoone another.
The character models still look great after all this time. The whole game still looks pretty good

I always loved the idea that everyone who goes to Silent Hill each see something different there. Some see monsters while others see a calm and bright place
So what if a person who saw a nice place and a person who saw monsters come into hand. Do the monsters harm the nice place person (no idea of the monster) or only the monster seeing person.
Or in Laura's case, just a empty town.
@@theoreoman4597 Likely just the monster seeing person. Even if they are together, they only experience their versions of Silent Hill. The monster seeing one might just come off as mentally unwell to the non-seeing one.

The worst part is that it breaks the 4th wall...throughout the game we kill and finish enemies with a kick to avoid using all the resources, so, technically Vincent is not only talking to Heather, he is talking to us the player as well.
Does the line change at all if you avoid killing anything besides the bosses?
Deep
I mean you lose the game if the monsters attack you right?
That's not breaking the fourth wall. It's just that you interpret it that way. But they don't address the player.
Here's a fun fact, Vincent already always breaks the fourth wall because Vincent is always looking with one eye at the player! It was a trick The devs used to make us uncomfortable by Vincent even if we didn't understand why we were being made uncomfortable. He's always both looking at Heather and the viewer! OG Team Silent did some good work.
"Don't worry, it's just a joke."
Those dang facial expressions are unsettling.
The Missionary and Leonard are not monsters, but heather perceives them as hideous monsters because of her emotions and probably that thing growing inside her warping reality around her. Hiroyuki Owaku even mentions that Vincent was not joking.
The missionary isn’t a monster? But you’re right, never thought about Leonard. Interesting take

You get the worst ending killing almost all the monsters.
Didn’t expect you to find you here, or to be a silent hill fan but haha here you are, if I recall correctly she starts talking about something to do with “the birth of god” or somethin, kinda makes me wonder if heathers vision could’ve been altered WHILE she was still in the town in order to make her more violent against them and survive, but again the town is supposed to warp reality only with your nightmares, yet they are killable, could the person self-reflection about their fears make them stronger against them or do THEY get stronger the more you think about your fears?
Actually it's better if they're demons not people seeing as monsters in your eyes, so what's the police going to do with heather-mason?? Execution for the number of victims silent hill fan's never think about this ,just heather-mason back to her home and saying I am so sorry I just a seeing as wired monsters I am not going to do this again 😊
The characters in Slient Hill 3 are so well made for a ps2 game
Yeah IGN gave it a graphical score of 10 back in the days.
the f you mean for a PS2 game? The PS2 was top graphical power even for today standards
@@Tokyo_ghost_404 No? The GameCube had it beat in the same console generation, if you tried to run Luigi's Mansion on a ps2 it would explode
Yeah, its still impressive the way they made the facial expression too detailed for PS2 game, even MGS3 looks blury and foggy compared to SH3.
By this point Silent Hill is deforming reality with Heather's nightmares instead of Alessa's. Vincent makes this joke because he knows about Heather's role in The Cult and it's funny to him seeing how the mother and daughter of God, can see the monsters as monsters like we see them. That's why he says to you "Monsters?, do they look like monsters to you?" Because, you are not supposed to see them as monsters.
Also, i think everyone sees the same things as Heather/The Player. This is because Heather is Alessa and Alessa has a strong bond with the town, this revealing her nightmares to everyone to see. When she is absent, the town was abandoned with her scent making Silent Hill kind of sentient, calling people like James, Eddie, etc.
No the monsters are actually people… Heather just sees them as monsters

Silent Hill Shattered Memories kinda plays along the idea that the “monsters” look different depending on the player’s personality and perception
i think the wii one do that, monsters change appearance with your choices and behavior, it looked really interesting in the artworks but it was underused and this game is actually real boring.
...you mean SH2, no?
@@GugureSux the concept is just for Silent Hill 2. Like how Angela sees the town as constantly on fire, and we can assume the same with Eddie where it's always cold. His fight in the freezer, and the last time we meet Angela could be James somehow wondering into their versions of the town.
All the other games made by Team Silent has you being pulled into someone else's version of the town.
That’s pretty much every silent hill.
Although, Alessa is the heart. If she’s the enemy, she decides what they are
Makes me wonder if he switched up , acting like it was a joke just to not freak her out
That's exactly what it was.

His voice in silent hill 3 hd collection is so terrible, this is absolutely amazing and perfectly fits his character
2003 and still looks better than some AAA today
Some?! I'd say most of AAA
Okay that's a little far fetched lmao it looks good tho. The shades and textures are really uncanny. It's what makes the games so great.
This and Angela’s line in 2 when you see everything on fire and she says something along the lines of, “You finally see it too? To me it always looks like this.”
It’s crazy how in Silent Hill, poor voice acting makes it feel more unsettling, but take it into anything else and it’s just poor voice acting again (except for specific cases)
i agree, the atmosphere of silent hill games feel unsettling and so good idk how to explain it, but theres just something about this game and survival horror thats so beautiful
Because every character seems to suffer from mental illness it works really well with the horror
It reminds me of Twin Peaks. It can have this uncanny effect with them delivering the lines so strangely. Almost like a Soap Opera in certain moments, but for some reason it makes it very creepy. Almost dreamlike (or more nightmarish).
@@EdmondOliverLives
Speaking of Silent Hill and Twin Peaks, I made a video about Twin Peals, Silent Hill and Rural Town Mystery.
I think they do the poor acting on purpose
I love Vincent, he’s such a freak.
Sadly he was killed easily by dumb sick girl
That character overall is unsettling
It looks unsettling to you????
Vincent theory still holds up in a way, if you only count the team silent games.
The key line is “They look like monsters to you?” Implying that you are killing real beings.
The voice acting for Vincent is SOOOOO good
Emmerich continues to be one of the most messed up people in mgs
You know what's the worst part of all this?, the bad ending requires you to kill at least a 90% of all the "monsters" in the game, and the scene we get, is a cutscene where heather stabs Douglas, and then talks about "God's birth". This becomes unsettling once you realize She might be seeing Douglas as a monster too, which indeed sets one of the most complex questions ever made related to Silent Hill, are you really fighting monsters?, or, are they other persons transformed by the Town to look like that because of their sins?. And most important, does this ending means, the more you kill, the more they turn like this?.
But you can't get that ending on a first run
*Bro Huey got into meth after they kicked him from mother base*
I love this line for the fact you really can’t tell if he is lying or not…the way he delivers the line and then almost has to remind himself to keep you calm by claiming it was a joke…very good, very unsettling! The first 3 Silent Hills are my favorite horror games for this reason alone
Reminder, it doesn't mean that those monsters were actually people, it doesn't even mean that they really looked any different to Vincent, he could very well just be "fascinated" by them.
Also he’s an asshole. He mocked Claudia to her face about her father beating her he is the exact kind of guy who would just make this shit up to mess with people.
If they're not monsters (big IF considering the fact pendulums fly, and not just visually) they sure as hell are still cultists complicit in murdering her father and tryina kill (or worse, at least from heather's pov considering the slurpers) her so even then their deaths do not reflect poorly on heather.
However, this scene can give insight into vincent. See, he tries all the time to be a suave manipulator. And sure, he has a degree of control over heather, but that's because she plain doesn't know as much about the situation for 99% of the game. Or at the very least they both think vincent knows more. But he's also kinda...pathetic. were he not the only lead, heather would have just gone the opposite way every time. If she had the choice, she would ignore him. So he's a blsutering smug snake wannabe.
This line though, this line that may be one thing or a few others or even an actual attempt at a joke actually cuts heather. Nobody likes the potential realisation that their eyes deceived them and far less the ambiguity over whether it's the case or nah. You can see that vincent is surprised ot have actually affected heather for once. Even he himself is to a degree doubting himself.
Interestingly enough in Silent Hill 3 (and some other titles of Silent Hill) certain endings are tied to how many monsters you kill. For 3 it's the bad ending of the game where Heather is possessed by the end of it all. While that ending is more tied to if you play the role of God more (granting death like their core beliefs, pardoning the woman in the confessional when it's not your place to etc) but the fact that killing the monsters in even the other games changes endings it makes this line seem more fucked up and maybe be somewhat true.
@@voltaalta1307 3 is literally the only team silent game where doing this is accounted for. I only know of downpour, and while I dislike it the least (I like shattered memories, so that one is not counted) among the western sh games, it's still kinda like a daft little brother.
Vincents face was more expressive than modern games
Well they were bearing hostile intentions and you can feel the pain they inflict, they dont run away either.
What if that's because they also see you as a monster, so they try to fight back exactly how you're doing.
The sound track so sick!
It's somewhat undercut by him immediately saying "it's just a joke".
I always saw this line as a reference to the "Angels & Demons" line from the movie Jacob's Lader.
"...So the way he sees it, if you're frightened of dying and... and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the earth...."
that was always how I read it too. The Order sees all this stuff as pure and angelic. They worship it. To them, the creatures are angelic creatures.
I believe they're seeing the same creatures though, unlike what others have said, because later in the game, Vincent says that the macabre wasnt to his liking. (cant remember the exact wording.) But I think he was referring to the churches set dressing, while talking about forking the bill for it all.
Seeing as how much SH was inspired by that film I wouldn't be surprised if that's the exact piece of inspiration
it's brilliant honestly. even the way they did his face when he asked that gave me chills
I recall how one of Claudia's minions was threatening Heather and when he appeared we only see a monster and Heather says "so, you are just another monster" and proceeds to kill him.
This would be even creepy if claudia minions was actually humans and heather kill them because silent hill makes her see as monsters
Minions? It was her father, Leonard. Bro barely remembers the game and he's out there theorizing shit 💀
Vincent is a great character overall and he's not exactly unsettling, atleast to me. I think he's a dork.
My life changed after hearing this quote when I was 15yo - damn Vincent, I thought they were monsters, okay?
Yep it's one of my fave lines. It makes you question the past 2 games aswell for a split second!

We all love this line of dialogue
I love referring to this part of SH3. It's such a good example of horror, even if it turned out he was just messing around
The way he spoke made me think he saw the monsters as children......

This game was so far ahead of it's time
The whole franchise was.
Vincent...still trolling fans to this day...
😂😂😂
Another interpretation of this line is Vincent’s fanaticism. The Order perceives the monsters spawned from Silent Hill as agents of their God, so perhaps a rose tinted filter is in play.
I'm not sure but I think Eddie says something in Silent Hill 2 about he sees everyone as people that keep laughing at him, so that's why he killed them with his gun
Eddie said he sees Gross looking monsters the people who seeing them are made by silent hill power
Still amazed these are PS3 graphics.
Ps2
I always thought this was a silly moment. The ones she killed were actually trying to kill her first.
Tthat voice actor killed whatever vibe they were trying for
Silent Hill Downpour has the monster called the Bogeyman, who is manifestation of one's hatred and desire for revenge. Murphy turned into Bogeyman because of Anne's hatred and disgust for Murphy because of what he did to her father, causing Murphy to manifest as Bogeyman, becoming a monster that Anne thinks Henry is. Vincent was not joking since Heather sees members of Order as the monsters because of what Alessa gone through when she was used by Dahlia and because of her hatred towards Claudia. Anger and hatred can be other emotions that can give a birth to monsters.
One of my favorite things about the silent hill series is that the world is completely different through each characters eyes.
When Angela mentioned how she always sees fire around her to James in SH2 at that point I kinda gathered that everyone perceives Silent Hill differently and that it manifests into your own personal hell depending on your psyche. This further confirmed it but then SH4 doesn’t so I don’t know anymore... Maybe SH4 is unique though as it’s the apartment that’s being turned into form of SH by Walter Sullivan.
Silent Hill 4 started off development alongside Silent Hill 3 . I suppose Team Silent wanted to make something different from the other game being made .
Sh4's otherworld is tied to Walter Sullivan's Psyche much like how Sh1 otherworld is tied to Alessa's
Actually Silent hill 1 is Alessa psyche, sh 3 is Heathers psyche, sh 4 is Walter's psyche. From the first 4 games only SH 2 follows the monster and the world is a manifestation of the protagonist psyche. All the other 3 games is someone else's psyche. There are more sh games that use sh2 system
@@joly2834actually this better than if they made silent hill monsters was people not demon

Reminds me of Silent Hill Origins, where Travis could get the bad ending if you set your path by killing 100 monsters in your playthrough
Yeah he became the Butcher, a serial killer from Sillent Hill
Maybe it wasn't meant silent hill about killing people but the point you didn't need to be killer whatever some items unlocked when you killed more monsters still didn't know the point
This is what will forever keep me coming back to these games. They are just so unsettling
In SH2, if you return to where you killed your first monster, there will be police lines and chalk drawing shaped like a person as if it were a crime scene. James probably unknowingly killed a hobo.

People see different things in the fog, it's a non-literal and non-linear space that is more memetic than physical.
The implication is that he doesn't see monsters, but rather people, and he enjoys killing these human beings, and as he does not feel any guilt for doing so, guilt being one of the main causes for the creatures, he does not see them as such.
