    If the refrigerator is not constantly being opened the compressor doesn’t have to work as much. I prefer to keep it running with water and sodas in it. Like I said before, I’m one of those know-it-all guys that thinks instructions are for novices. I’m not perfect!😊

    Thank you for your review, I'm also intimidated by that panel. Agreed, why not switches!!! How are you liking your 18M so far?? Where you able to go through the drive through?? Did you solve the rattle issue ?? The information about the batteries and there functions was nice!!! I really liked your review 🙂

      We love it. Compared to our Minnie Winnie it’s great. It’s got a smaller table and smaller bed, but much better mileage, handling, visibility, and safety. Haven’t dared try the drive thru yet. I lost the a/c of the Winnie once. Bad memories. Hate the radio though. Loved to be able to park it anywhere. Love the fact that I have a generator for shtf.

      The only raddle issue was the stove glass top needed a kitchen towel under it to stop the rattle... Love it! The panel is easy. Furnace and water heater is the above panel. Drove it across state. I never drove anything so comfortable in all my life....

    Please consider reading your owners' manual. No matter if you have a new rv, car, or truck, we should always read the manual to familiarize ourselves with how things work. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people break things on a brand new vehicle because they are impatient with the controls. We all seem to find the time to take the vehicle back to the dealer to have it repaired, but we can't find the time to read?

  • @randyrandolph9709

      I understand. But I am months away from 70 and lately I’ve been very mindful of my time. I hate to waste it, and making stuff so complicated that it needs a two inch manual is just an invitation to leave it in the drawer. I can think of a million ways I can use whatever time I have left more enjoyably. Even if it is sitting on my recliner with my feet up watching tv.

    120 volt fridge? This particular one is a miss for Thor. Yeap that cover in the kitchen is one big complaint by everyone.

  • @philc.9280
    @philc.9280 Před rokem

    Why wear down the compressor in the refrigerator just because of smell. Just put a box of baking soda inside or keep the door open with a towel when in storage. I can tell you didn't read the owners manual based on your questions. Your dealer should have done a complete walk through to discuss all the features.

  • @armandovillarreal3614
    @armandovillarreal3614 Před rokem +1

    Are you absolutely sure the fridge is 120V? Online documentation says 12V. It really should be able to run the way you intended - this is a huge deal! It would be a dealbreaker for me and I’m interested in the Rize

    • @mikegutierreztheretiredfar5831
      @mikegutierreztheretiredfar5831  Před rokem

      I want to double check with the fridge nameplate but I remember the Thor tech telling me that it would work from the battery thru the inverter, but that it was a 120v fridge. He said it would eventually drain the battery because the solar panel could not keep up. I will try to find the fridge nameplate though

    • @armandovillarreal3614
      @armandovillarreal3614 Před rokem

      @@mikegutierreztheretiredfar5831 the sticker inside the door frame is on the right side I think. Some of these Vitrifrigos come standard with both 12V and 110V capabilities - your choice as to how to wire it up. But I would be shocked if Thor wired only 110V that defeats the whole purpose of an efficient 12V fridge! I have a slightly smaller version in my current van and 100W solar will run it almost indefinitely if the days are sunny.

      @@armandovillarreal3614 this is my third rv and all refs work the same. They switch to whatever source of power is available. My first two even worked on propane! But remember that 120v will always be more efficient than 12v.

    • @armandovillarreal3614
      @armandovillarreal3614 Před rokem

      @@mikegutierreztheretiredfar5831 I think they used to mostly be 3-way fridges, yes- AC/DC/Propane. But from what I’ve understood a 12V fridge is most efficient since you already have a 12V system. That’s why many modern ones are just 12V. It would make no sense to introduce inverter losses by running it on 110v when on the battery…I’m just surprised at this as their own paperwork says “Stainless Steel 12v refrigerator”

      I love that 12/24V 115 liter Vitrifrigo fridge! Compressor fridges have come a long way in terms of efficiency, and it looks like this one is no exception. I bet it would work perfectly with just a solar setup.

      Actually it wasn’t bad. It was mostly me. We bought it at La Mesa in Port St Lucie which is over a hundred miles from my house. So we drove back there the day we were picking it up and we had been there like three hours, and I was tired and we still had to drive back, so I probably was a little impatient. Besides that, the lady showing us admitted that she was learning together with us. This was our third RV, so I figured, how much different can it be? And it was only 79K. The next week the same one was in the 80s

      It is basically a sofa. I sleep while my wife drives and it’s great for that, but when you convert it to a full it would block traffic. We spend nights in hotels. We are spoiled. We need the comfy big bed and the free breakfast. But to nap on the road, it’s perfect
