Jezero is the closing track off of "Summer Vacation" an operatic musing on healing from childhood trauma through queerness in the wake of the crushing existential dread related to the accelerating climate emergency. The song is a love letter from humanity to Perseverance (the rover on Mars). A sort of open question about whether we'll make it and what cost? I was inspired to write this song in 2021 when the first sound recorded on Mars was released to the public. I became so overwhelmed with emotions hearing that gust of wind along with the hissing winding of the machine's gears that I ended up including the sample in the actual song. It made me think of Terminator 2: Judgement Day and the line: "No fate, but what we make for ourselves..." (The line was also a prompt for a monthly song writing group I'm part of). Sarah Connor giving it a voice over tribute. With the apocalyptic stakes being so high and with humanity resting its hopes in the yet unknown. The song is meant to be a cathartic release. Our fate is up for us to decide.

This was my favourite song off the album, I was so shocked at how moved I was by the lyrics about Perseverance, I was teary over this rover. And of course, your vocals are what drive it home. Looking forward to your next album and what adventures you'll take us all on
