  • Accepting the guidance of a guru - an enlightened, qualified and ethical guide on one's spiritual path - is a foundational necessity in the tradition of Sanatana Dharma. In our present age, however, finding such a rare person has become a tremendous challenge. Indeed, it has been estimated that 95% of individuals who claim to be legitimate gurus, Swamis, Acharyas, and enlightened spiritual mentors are not! The precise understanding, then, of what constitutes a real and authentic guru is crucial for all sincere spiritual seekers if they wish to avoid falling into the trap of fake teachers.
    In this very direct, authoritative and no nonsense talk, Sri Dharma Pravartaka Acharya provides the conclusive criteria necessary to recognize who is - and is not! - an authentic and legitimate guru. Even if you have been on the path of Sanatana Dharma for decades and feel that you already know what a real guru is, prepare to have your understanding radically expanded! Before surrendering to someone who claims to be a legitimate guru, watch this informative video.

    Prabhupada gave a very nice example, he said a man walks on a pier and sees a crowd looking down he approaches and sees a man who has fallen into the sea,he turns to the crowd and shouts I will save him, in his haste and with a rush of adrenaline he jumps in,at this moment he remembers he cannot swim, he hits the water and both men drowned, /it's soooo important to ensure guru is authentic and genuine otherwise the devotee is harmed,if guru is not qualified he will drag u down with him. first and foremost he must be pure of heart,but moreover he must love Sri Krishna and everything else follows.

    I believe this is one of your most important videos e-v-e-r. This would revolutionize religion tomorrow!!! So many folks I know who NEEEED to see this. I wish I'd seen this a decade ago. But, they won't, cause it would blow their LIFE out of the water, everything they believe, their guru. I have a friend who literally every other month has a new guru. He shares them with me and I literally want to say: none of these are gurus. Some have some nice common sense they share, but none of them are gurus. I've attempted saying that, but I always hear back "well, you aren't feeling the guru and thus need to meditate more to realize the guru." Nope. It has nothing to do with that. They don't make the mark not because I don't "feel" them, but because they don't check off any of the boxes in this video of what makes a real guru.

    just found these videos, after my stepdads passed away I've been on a crazy journey that has taken me out of Christianity into ancient truths in the Bible. granted I don't believe in Krishna I have tied much of truth in your ancient history with those of Greek and Roman as well as Egyptian history. I have and Indian friend and this will help me understand the belief system.

    Yes what does enlightenment actually mean? The nutshell version. "...that person ceases to function as a result of ego - and is functioning now purely as a result of their realization of Self and their realization of God." OH no you don't! - You still need to play this video for yourself - the topic is Authentic Guru. Again - amazing clarity here for us Westerners. Lord help us - you are right we do lie to ourselves. Ha!

    • @DharmaNation
      @DharmaNation  Před 7 lety +9

      Namaste, Gearoid. Thank you for your question. The increasingly popular fallacy that everything/everyone is God is a commerce driven New Age idea. The Vedic scriptures do not teach this at all. Rather, the entirety of the Vedic scriptures teach us that God is the source of all reality, and is thus not subject to illusion. We, on the other hand, are subject to illusion - as is obvious every day of our lives. Please read Sri Acharyaji's book "Sanatana Dharma: The Eternal Natural Way" for detailed information on Vedic philosophy.

    Are you saying that someone who comes to a spiritual path for healing or comfort can't be a disciple? I understand that the path should purify any impulses other than the desire to know God, eventually, but isn't the call to God a come as you are party? Neither Jesus nor Lord Chaitanya rejected the criminal or those who sought healing from them. I think it's important to make this point; otherwise, only the very pure and the very self-deluded could even begin the journey to God.

    • @DharmaNation
      @DharmaNation  Před rokem +4

      Anyone who is in possession of sincerity, humility and enthusiasm to know the Truth can approach a guru for initiation. This is most certainly true also for those who are sincerely seeking deep spiritual healing in their lives. In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna confirms this with the following verse: "O best among the Bharatas [Arjuna], four kinds of pious men render devotional service unto Me-the distressed, the desirer of wealth, the inquisitive, and he who is searching for knowledge of the Absolute." (Bhagavad Gita, 7.16) In the Kali Yuga, all beings are in varying states of distress. It is only in surrendering at the merciful lotus feet of Bhagavan Sri Krishna that we can be fully relieved of all distress.
