Here's the thing..I would get on a Gladius , it 's reliable fast, did everything very well, smooth, a well thought out and put together machine with a great motor.. I get on my monster, which for all it's faults, and it doesn't have too many, and it's an Event.. the noises from the termi's, the way the bike urges you to get on it, the poor handling and engine vibration under 4000, then the satisfaction when you hit that speed where everything comes together, and the bike demands your full attention.. it's that riding Event and satisfaction that it's Japanese counterpart doesn't posses.
Nothing wrong with a Gladius, great bike, looks good too, but where Suzuki endeavors to insulate you from vibration and incongruity in the road, Ducati somehow fuses the rider to the engine, suspension, and road.. that feedback formula through the chassis is something they haven't messed with, and as any rider will attest, is more acute than anything on two wheels..

I was at Mugello on a CBR600RR, able to pass Desmoseidici riders for that reason, but at least they were on track, having fun. I suspect that the Superleggera is much faster, ten years on, so even a steady lap would be far quicker than any regular road bike can do, however enthusiastically ridden.

Great work 44 Teeth always putting out the best content for motorcycles on the internet. This bike is outrageous, I laugh every time he says 234 horsepower is “usable” lol. The thing that really struck me was he explanation about his experience on the Ducati WSB bike. Having a serious rider saying it’s pretty much unrideable gives me even more appreciation for any of the riders in the field. Those boys really make it look stupid easy especially when the bike is literally trying to kill you.

Amazing bike I'm sure but as the owner of the first 1299 SL on the West Coast of the United States I can say the SL is NOT an investment; it IS an amazing bike for sure and getting the opportunity to ride Mugello especially on the World Superbike was incredible but I flew all the way to Italy and got a total of 12 laps on track between three bikes: stock 1299S, followed by 1299 Superleggera and then Marco Melandri's Panigale R World Superbike. I considered selling my 1299 SL to buy the new V4 SL; the dealer said my 233 mile example, in otherwise showroom condition, would probably only be worth 55k (USD) in the open market. That's a 25k loss in 3 years! I said no thanks, keeping it for the time being. These guys are right when they say the Superleggera models do feel special. Oh and btw, the Ducati hype about the V4 SL being 16 kgs lighter is comparing the V4 SL with its included full Akrapovic race exhaust vs. base model bone stock which has no carbon anything, lead acid battery and heavy stock exhaust. The REAL difference in weight is closer to 11 kgs.

Every time I see a jaded motorcycle journey, I’m gonna point them at this video! Bloody Brilliant. Also, I’m glad I’m not the only bloke who says Porta-may-oh. :)

    EPIC! Nice one
This gives me a serious chub on but just imagine spooning one! It would never leave my living room just out of sheer worry.

I am not a Ducati man, but this one I would own, if I had the money of course. That even makes it special attracting people that are not brand enthusiasts. Stunning bike!
