      @@ChandradeepFlute You know, it all started with the flute, my journey to begin learning hindi that is. And once I began learning, I realized, it would become a skill that I would continue to work on for the rest of my life. And not only for reasons of learning more about bansuri, but also I sing as well and would love to learn more about that. My favorites (though they have both passed away) are Bhimsen Joshi and Pandit Jasraj. But I also plan to move to India someday, perhaps even teach English, maybe start a family over there. So hindi is very important in many aspects to me :)

      Hi Guru, Thanks for the wonderful comment. I am so glad you liked the video and the way i covered it. Yes kanti bhai's flute cost just 4500 with cover and courier charges.
      For now i have the flutes of these 5 makers and i have got lots of comments to cover the reviews of other makers as well.
      You know the cost of flutes :P and buying from all the makers is really tough. Having said that, i am surely planning to make reviews of less known makers so that people will get to know their brands as well. Stay tuned and stay connected :)

    • @guru4017
      @guru4017 Před 3 lety +1

      @@ChandradeepFlute Yeah I understand. Some flutes, especially Mukund, Adharvenu, Anubodh and Harshwardhan flutes are damn expensive. I even saw one guy in the USA Geoffrey Ellis who makes Bansuri from Hardwood and sells them for $350 - $400. I don't blame the flute makers for their price as these days there is so much demand for the flutes and they also have to meet with many costs in making and they have to bear with so much damage when they order a lot of bamboo from Assam and other places. But some flutes are quite expensive and it is good that before investing we should know it is worth spending that much money. And there have come some new makers who are making very good quality flutes and with very reasonable prices. I appreciate that you are reviewing flutes from these less known people including both positive and negative aspects and it greatly helps the customers to buy from them. Apart from the flute all that matters is how much we practice and how much control we have on our breath. Look forward to seeing more videos from you. Thanks

    • @ChandradeepFlute
      @ChandradeepFlute  Před 3 lety +2

      @@guru4017 Absolutely well said. To be frank with you the cost of the bamboo varies from 50-100 per piece depending on the diameter of the bamboo. The new entrants like deepak soni flutes , vinayak flutes, bakale etc first need to increase the base in the market , post which they can challenge the already established players. For the beginners there is absolutely no harm in going with these makers.
      The other established players also get the bamboo at similar cost , however there may be some aspects like superior bamboo over the new entrants. No doubts the harshwardhan flutes cost around 14-15k for E bass.
      Such flutes are required more from concert perspective and hence the maestros prefer his flutes.
      Someday, for sure will get one and review :)

    @Chandradeep ji, thankyou for this videos,liked your candid approach. Two question 1. What is best flute for beginners ( I was looking at C based on few online research) 2. When I went online to buy one with these makers they where SUPER costly , like Dhotre or Kanha were around $100-150 , where as Punam on Amazon sale was around Rs 1800 ( with 10% sale) , but the reviews were bad with no return policy . Deepakji’s flutes were for 1500 ( he sells cover extra) . So overall the difference is not much , not as you mentioned on view . With all this I am bit hesitant ( or confused) to take first step on starting flute journey . Few words of advice would be much appreciated. Thankyou

      Hi RS, C flute from any of the maker would be almost same and you cannot be wrong with any of them. For kanha and anand dhotre flutes, try to call them. Website is mostly for international sales. Deepak's C flute is 1500 with cover and now he is running a sale as well. I would also recommend you to check Digambar flute and specially the heat treated one. They are good too. Let me know if you want to know more.

      As an experienced flutist from Turkey, I can say that Sarfuddin flutes are the best. They are far better than Punam flutes.
      Punam costs more than twice.. However, the flutes I got from Punam was not tuned properly. They weren't vey bad, but they were not good enough for professional use. Mr. Subhash Thakur admitted that he doesn't use any tuner. He makes the flutes by ear, so tuning is flawed.
      Subhash Thakur scrapes of the shiny outer layer of the bamboo with sand paper. This is very bad! The shiny outer layer contains glass and slica, which make the flute strong and sound better.
      Mr. Sarfuddin's flutes are perfectly tuned. Tuning of Sarfuddin flutes are as good as Boehm flutes. He uses older, darker bamboo with some stains. But old bamboo is stronger, more otantic, and gives better sound. Also he keeps the shiny outer layer of the bamboo.
      Trust me, Sarfuddin flutes are better. Unfortunately, their marketting is not very good.

      Agreed Manjunath ji. But affordability is key. We are price conscious nation and most o people buy flute for hobby. Its definitely good for professionals but for beginners its heavy on pocket. If you wish to build a set and E bass itself costs 15000, that's definitely out of most people's reach. Having said that I may still buy that as a permanent E bass in future if someone offers that at a reasonable cost :P

      1) C/C# ( when we buy a flute on our own, play it for a bit , but can't use it for prolong raag practice or use it as a technique development flute)
      2) Enters G#/G bass flutes. The best of both worlds. This can be your starting flute or a slow progression post C/C#. You can do techniques riyaz, play songs, raags etc
      3) Now that you have some skills, enters the best one to practice classical and play classical is E bass.
