      Thank you! I had initially thought about adding velcro loop to the back and sides kinda like How Spiritus Systems does it on thier Micro fight, but i wanted to find a solution that dont require too much modding of the KB and one that wasnt as permanent until i knew i liked the set up - ive bee using it like this for quite some time now and i really like it so im considering making the side pouches permanent. The only Other change ive made is that ive removed the KB harness and instead run it directly off the shoulder straps of my pack via the HPG load lifter straps. This not only makes donning and doffing much easier, provides a nice counter balance for the pack but it also prevents the harness from riding up and pushing against my neck becuase of the heavy load carriage.

      LN, I’m glad you found some value from my video. As I had mentioned in the video, I initially purchased both the Snubby Recon and the Runners KB. But ultimately, I decided to keep the Snubby Runners KB because:
      1) I wanted that zippered front pocket that the Recon didn’t have.
      2) I prefer the laser cut MOLLE to the older style 1” MOLLE webbing.
      3) I wanted a way to attach some morale patches to the front of the bag when I was running it without my Juggernaut armor mount

    Great mods and video man! But I can't help feeling that you would've been better served by going with a bigger sized kitbag. I have the original/large kitbag and it's great.

    • @BlackFlagSummitClub
      @BlackFlagSummitClub  Před 2 lety +4

      I get what you are saying but honestly, I don’t have any need for more space inside the KB itself, the things I have on the outside, (radio, TQ, handmic, inReach mini) I would not want to have inside the bag even if there was enough room for it. It’s not as if I don’t have enough room inside the snubby KB for what I need to put in it. That’s said, if the medium kitbag was available when I bought the snubby, I would have bought that. Anything larger than that is too big for my purpose as it was never my intention to ever use it as a standalone but rather to augment my primary backpack.

    • @Nunyabizn3ss
      @Nunyabizn3ss Před 2 lety +1

      For this use case, I respectfully disagree. The TQ needs to be at readily hand. The radio also won't fit. Lastly, the NavBoard will stick out a long ways on the full sized kitbag, and I imagine, will not be too stable.

    Cool set up. But doesn't all that gear make the pack forward heavy? I find when I put too much weight in my 5.11 Skyweight, the pack sags down and causes the harness to ride high on my back. I've actually modified mine to add a water bottle holder to the harness to help equalize the weight, as I typically don't use a backpack on most of my hikes.

      Mar 26, 2023, 10:53 AM MDT
      Hello,
      We very much appreciate your interest in our products! We wish we could answer your question about availability directly.
      The problem is that even though we have a production schedule and often have a rough idea when things will be available, it is just as often that we don't get things when we expect. This is moreso the case nowadays with all kinds of random material shortages and production problems due to how government entities are choosing to respond to COVID. So we could tell you what we think today and then there's a 50% chance we'd be wrong anyway which is frustrating for both of us.
      The product you're asking about is a standard stocking color which we endeavor to always have in stock. We're receiving shipments of those types of items one or more times a week so it may not be long. The very best way to be notified as soon as your item is available is to do the following:
      - Go to the products page
      - Select the color you wish to buy
      - If its out of stock, at this point you will be prompted to enter your email
      - enter your email address and click the submit button
      As soon as the product is put into stock, you will receive an email notification.
      The other place to look for production updates and also ask production related questions is on the "HPG" section of our forum:
      hillpeoplegear.com/Forum#/list/forumId/22
      This is a place where we'll post production updates at least monthly and *might* answer production questions depending on what the item is.

    • @BlackFlagSummitClub
      @BlackFlagSummitClub  Před 6 měsíci

      I believe you are reffering to the Spiritus Systems Micro Fight chest rig? I have one of these as well which i use for Its intended use, but i did try to use it for hiking before i got the HPG KB, and while it works its a bit like trying to use a butter knife instead of a flat head screw driver - sure it can get the job done but it may just fall short. I found the dangler pouch was what i used the most, and the mag pouches were really quite awkward for what i would use them for and i didnt like having to don and doff it via the harness (a similar finding i had with the HPG) which is why I now mount the HPG KB directly to the the shoulder straps of my pack. Also, im not sure if there is a way to mount the Juggernaugt PALs mount to the SS Micro and that is a pretty central part of my Set up.

    • @VK6AB-

      @@VK6AB- right Ok! My only question is (not being fesitious), (in your opinion) what are the benefits of adapting a platform designed for military applications (to carry AR15 mags etc.) to be more hiking friendly over slightly tweeking something that is made for hiking to accomodate some ‘tactical’ functionality?

    • @VK6AB-
      @VK6AB- Před 6 měsíci

      @@BlackFlagSummitClub Because the "pocket" for three mags can be converted for other use by simply removing the mag inserts and changing over to an admin insert. Some MFF rigs are already double stackers e.g. have three mag option and an admin option in front even then the three mag insert can be removed to give two admin options. The front panel can be one of three finishes e.g. as I said before molle/ pals/ velcro. Obviously, there is a price tag with flexibility. PS There is no right or wrong answer, just what works well for your particular METT-TC at the point in time your heading out.

    I love these bags but I think you're taxing the snubby a little bit too much. It's safe to say these bags can do anything if you have to but perhaps there's a better solution. Theres no elastic in the harness, there's still chunky hard sewn 1.5" buckles on three sides (you can't exit from the side like any good plate carrier or dive bcd), and they get hot fast. Spacer mesh and a hidden side velcro slot on each side below the 1.5" strap would be great

    • @BlackFlagSummitClub

      Hey Onseki, totally fair. I appreciate your feedback, i can definitely see where you are comming from but this Set up is specific to How i use my rig. (I have another video where i talk about what i use this for) Essentially i dont really Put alot Inside the snubby itself, Other than snacks and things i’d like easy access to that would otherwise Go into my pant pockets. The external Set up is where this is really a game changer for me; because i use a Phone app (all trails) for navigation (in addtion to haveing a map, GPS and compass) this allows me to view my Screen hands free, and also to be able to operate my done much easier than by having to Put it into the controller. The bear spray and TQ are also items i want to be able to access quickly and this provides me with the best way that ive found for me to do that. Again, this is what ive come up with after years of trying to find a way to do this and for me it is PERFCT but that doesnt mean that there isnt a better way that i havent thought of or that this will work for everyone else. 🙂

      Oh really? Wow i didnt know that! Thanks for the info. I have to Wonder though, since the Guy in your video link has a British accent if Its not just another one of those situations like how they pronounce “leutenant” as “LEFT-tenant” or “zebra” as “ZED-bra” or something like that….id be curious to hear a non-foreigner (or somone without a distinct accent) who works for the Company say the Company name.

    This is hilarious. The idea was for a small footprint and minimalist.

      Yes, I’m sure the minds behind the ‘snubby’ runners’ KB had ‘minimalism’ as a basis of the design but for me, I just personally found the standard kitbag foot print to be far too big aesthetically, and for what my intended use was: namely a place to keep my snacks, nav stuff, accessible and as a way to mount my phone for hands free use with my DJI Mavic mini drone. (I go over all of this in previous videos, I think I makes more sense of this seemingly counter intuitive set up). Additionally, my intention for this video is to spark peoples’ ideas for their own mods rather than as something to be replicated just for the sake of it. Ultimately, this is my set up, which I put together to adapt it to me, it may not work for anyone else but *FOR ME* it is perfect. I guess I should have made the video title “best addons….FOR ME”
