    The worst of these teams is the 2002 Oakland Raiders. They’ve only had two winning seasons since 2002, haven’t won a playoff game since the 2002 AFC Championship against the Titans, and now are in a completely other city.

      they lost Gruden after 2001 and that 2000-2002 Raiders team was ancient. Mostly with mercenary free agents. It wasn't build to last for the long run. 2002 Raiders is one of the oldest teams of the 21st century. I mean they were old old. Al Davis ego got in the way and he turned into a way worse version of Jerry Jones after 2002. He got real stubborn after 2002 after making the Superbowl without Gruden thinking he can win with Any coach. Like Jerry got stubborn after he won in 95 without Jimmy and started feeling himself. But the main issue other than Al Davis was that the roster was ancient in 2002. Most of these players were on their last legs litteraly. Can't build around 40 yr olds and hope to last. Tim Brown was like 40. Rich Gannon above 40. Jerry like 41. Rod Woodson was 39-40. tHE LEFT TACKLE WAS 39. Bill Romanowski was 40. The DLINE and Oline had a lot of 37-40 yr olds as well. They were old

      @gatienlaurol5793 Před 2 lety +1

      @@erikpuka2627 For the time period it was, pushing the chips into the table for one last run with that 02 roster isn’t unreasonable. But once Gannon got hurt in 03, everything fell apart. Then the Raiders earned the second overall pick in the 04 draft and selected Robert Gallery (good but not great offensive linemen)instead of Ben Roethlisberger or Philip Rivers to build the future with.
      Part of the Raiders demise is simply because Al Davis didn’t accept that the 02 roster needed a complete rebuild instead of complementary flashy first round draft picks who can’t play (Fabian Washington, Michael Huff, Jamarcus Russell, Darren McFadden, etc).
      It shouldn’t take 20 years to get out of that bind but here we are.

    Super Bowl LI was a franchise-crippling loss for the Falcons. Set us back 10 years at least, led to terrible contracts in a vain attempt to keep an average at best team together despite the knowledge that our above average coaching and scheme development is what got us there to begin with, most of whom departed the year after. Our front office got reactionary instead of being proactive and thinking ahead to begin building a more solid roster that could sustain itself while also attracting elite coaches to the organization.

    • @isiahpaskins
      @isiahpaskins Před 2 lety +1

      As I was watching and analyzing I realize the teams that made it back to the playoffs either had rock solid cultures via coach or qb or they had a “Peyton Manning makes you a contender every year” case. Or you have a Tom Brady like QB who sets the culture there and runs the team when the coach can’t.
      Teams that don’t have this usually crash and burn next year as regression happens. Heck even Lamar’s mvp season and the fact that the ravens had a rare record of 14-2 (or 15-1 if u Carolina, coincidence, nope) shows how much regression hits and how things change year to year.
      Only exception to all this is the falcons who somehow made it back deposits losing the OC and the already mid defense dropping even lower. Now Cincinnati I feel can go one of two ways, make it back bc burrow has set a wining culture as indicated in his press conferences. OR drop off a little and miss the playoffs at like 9-8. Burrow wasn’t close to mvp this year so there’s room to grow and it’s a young team that’s added to their squad. If injuries happen then throw in the white towel

    Super Bowl losses absolutely CRUSH teams. I did some research on quarterbacks to find trends (mainly experience, because I noticed that it's usually QBs on their rookie contract that win).
    1. The only QBs to come back from a Super Bowl loss to later win are Bob Griese (2 wins after 1 loss), John Elway (2 wins after 3 losses), Tom Brady (2 wins after 2 losses, then 2 more wins after another loss), and Peyton Manning (1 win after 2 losses).
    2. The only other QBs to come back from a loss to even *MAKE* another Super Bowl are Craig Morton (lost V and XII), Fran Tarkenton (VIII, IX, and XI), Jim Kelly (XX, XXI, XXII, and XXIII), and Kurt Warner (XXXVI and XLIII).
    3. The most experienced quarterback to win their first appearance are Peyton Manning and Drew Breese (8th season); the most experienced to get their first appearance were Chris Chandler and Rich Gannon (12th) until Matthew Stafford this season (13).
    The fact that a lot of teams utterly collapse after a loss is actually kind of surprising, since that trend isn't really present in other American sports.

      @Boyso5407 Před 2 lety

      I’m glad you mentioned that. That call itself was horrible but what most people miss is that Wilson completely missed that throw. On the goal line that ball has to be thrown down and right into the receivers stomach. If you watch Brady’s TD pass to AB in the Super Bowl against the Chiefs you’ll see exactly how that ball was supposed to be thrown. Butler would’ve never been able to pick it off if Wilson didn’t try and lead his receiver instead of hitting him in the numbers.

It would have not been over by any means...

    This video just shows how impressive the patriots success (and Brady specially) were to be so consistently in the hunt to win the super bowl.

    San Francisco's mistake was hiring Kyle 28 - 3 Shanahan. He can't win big games.

      He’s the Niners best coach since Jim Harbaugh. But I agree, he for some reason shits the bed in the 4th quarter whenever he has a lead

    You should do this for the 1960s & the 1970s and then another episode for the 1980s & 1990s.

    I’ll never forget the interception in the end zone with the Pats vs Seahawks. The patriots really had a golden age when I was growing up.

    Something is wrong with your system when a team wins 11 games and don't make the playoff but the Seahawks makes it with only 7 wins.

    lol the chiefs completely collapsed. But Brady eats the souls of the teams he beats. Somehow the rams avoided it. The rams, broncos and patriots are basically the only teams that recovered
