  • This knife is one of my favorite knives for bushcraft, survival, hunting, camping, etc. It is a sturdy built knife that will stand up to anything except intentional abuse.

I mistakenly described the color of this knife as OD Green. Esee has an OD model, but this model is actually called Dark Earth. Hey. It’s a dang shade of OD Green for goodness sake. But. I need to set the record straight. I apologize for the error.

I appreciate the kind words. I did make a minor mistake in this video calling the color OD green. I don’t recall what ESEE calls it, but to most people it would be OD green. Thanks again.

I think it's a great Wilderness survival knife especially if you find yourself in a desperate situation. I have the beige 3D handled version with the green knife blade

Good to know that you've found a knife 🔪 that you trust that well 👍
I still use petroleum jelly. Good for so many reasons. 👍

Its a tank. I haven't done this to mine yet... but reprofiling the blade to 15 degrees on each side would makes this blade infinitely better.
The warranty is amazing too. The will replace it for free if you break it. I tested this out after a buddy ruined tye blade trying to reprofile it... so I broke the tip off and sent it into esee. The shipped me a new one no questions asked.
I tried break8ng tye tip by prying it using my hands but that failed... I literally slit a log that was 14 inches in diameter... I had to put the tip in a vice and hit tye handle with a sledge hammer to break it.

I have an ESSE 5 with the 3D scales..it’s a pound of USA sharp steel that any outdoorsman can use. You have a great looking one there.

ESEE’s warranty covers the knife whether it’s abused or not. You can cut it in half with a blow torch and they will replace it no questions asked. The only thing ESEE doesn’t cover is rust and normal wear and tear.

I want this but it’s sadly more of a gimmick knife from what I hear. My recent blade that replaced my tops Mohawk Hunter is the esee cm6. it seems good for scout carry.

Joe have you come across a serviceman who has or considered the E5 as a combat knife?

No sir. I never served, but my opinion is it would be an excellent choice.

Great review on a great knife!! I learned lots of new things with this video to include using chapstick and your fire starters to prevent corrosion!!🪱🪱🪱
