- Another time travelling flipthrough for me with this art journal... most of the spreads go back at least a decade to the early days of my crafting journey. Turn the pages and turn back time with me - there are some unexpected colour palettes and page styles in this one!

Love the techniques, colours and textures! I appreciate you sharing this, Alison.❤️🇨🇦
Thank you so much - it's a strange feeling looking back through time like this - but I think it's always worth checking in with the journeys we've taken!
I can hear the amazement of your own art and it made me smile and your write to do so it's beautiful
It is a strange sensation looking back down the years like this - some of these pages are ten years old! - but it's also really interesting to chart the journey a little. Thank you so much for watching and for your lovely comment.
I think your theatre background shows in your artwork. Your pages tell a story and are not just a mess of "mixed media".
Each page is a finish product, I find you very inspiring. Glad I found your site.
Happy you found your way here - welcome! I'm delighted you're finding inspiration here, and yes, it's definitely about the words as well as the pictures, so I know the theatre plays its part in that. Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
It was such a joy to go back with you down memory lane and see all these gorgeous pages😍 to be honest I see in all of them your artistc hand. Thanks for sharing this with us, even when it made you feel vulnerable. It's good to see what artistic journey you made...just like all of us❤that's a good reminder for myself when I am struggling in my art journal❤
Thank you so much, Edith - the support and warmth in the comments here, including yours, makes it less scary to be vulnerable about sharing these pages... and yes, it's a good reminder for all of us when we hit those creative blocks - it's all part of the journey.
Thank you for sharing your memories! Absolutely loved to see this book!
It's such an odd sensation looking back at old work, but I think it can be really useful to see where we've come from. Very happy you enjoyed it, thank you.
Such beauty lies visually and beneath your creativity....😊
Oh, that's such a beautiful thought - thank you so much.
It’s a joy to see you flip through your books! So much beauty revealed! And while I really love your current colour palette it’s nice to see that you are using other colours as well… Thanks for sharing! 💙
Oh, I definitely use other colours... my palette shifts with the seasons. Wait until you see what autumn brings!! But yes, looking back in this journal (some of these pages go back more than ten years) it's interesting seeing that colour exploration! Very happy you enjoyed the flip through - thank you.
The two pages with the birds (the positive and negative prints) are my favorite ones. 🤩
Thank you - it really is a great stencil.
Just lovely! Thanks for sharing the journey!💝💝💝💝💝💝
Happy you enjoyed the glimpse back in time! Thank you, as always, for your company and comments.
gorgeous pages ...great to see back in time too. love the birds stencil.
Thank you - yes, it really is a great stencil... I must fish it out and use it again soon. Something autumnal with the birds getting ready to migrate, maybe... hmmmm!
Thank you for sharing something so personal 🙏... and LOVE the frame/setting you made with the books...lovely colors... they make me rest 💙💚💙
That's a lovely comment, thank you. Yes, this is my Books Books Books set up, and it makes me happy too!
Wow!! These pages are all absolutely amazing!!!
Thank you so much... it's an odd sensation looking back in time down the years with these pages, but I think sometimes it's good to see where we've come from!
Another beautiful art journal! Thank you for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it - it's weird looking back through time like this!!
I’m moving soon and craft room is packed. This journal excites me for future projects!
Oh no... been there, done that - hope your move will be swift and smooth, and you can soon get the supplies out again to play! Thanks so much for watching and commenting, and good luck!
Lovely flipthrough ! I'd want to frame your first page !
Thank you so much!
Beautiful journey through your journal🤗
Thank you so much - it's an odd sensation looking back down the years, but a useful exercise sometimes!
This is so much fun. I’ve gone back through my old journals lately as well. Mine are absolutely cringe worthy and not anything like the looser style that I prefer now. Yours are still beautiful. Thanks for sharing this. 🤗🇨🇦🤗
It's a weird feeling, isn't it, looking back? Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
So much to enjoy in this journal. It's really interesting and inspirational to look at your previous work and thank you for showing us. I think I need some Lynne Perella stamps!
I'm so happy that you enjoyed taking a look back in time with me. And yes, do take a look at the Lynne Perrella stamps (I've added links in the description below the video to explore some of the PaperArtsy collections mentioned, as well as the PaperArtsy worldwide stockist list... no pressure intended!!)... Lynne is an extraordinary artist and designer, and the PaperArtsy stamps are a beautiful way to invite some of her flair into our own art worlds.
Thank you so much for watching and for your lovely, thoughtful comment.
Beautiful pages. That Tim Holtz…great products.
I know, right?! Endless inspiration... Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Hello Alison! It’s always such a treat to walk through your various books, tags, and journals with you, especially when they take us back in time. It’s almost like flipping through a photo album when we’re taken down memory lane. What I found most interesting in this week’s journal was the experimentation of such a wide range of creative styles using a variety of supplies and techniques. My favorite page in this journal was the wonderfully quirky field of JOFY’s flowers and grasses using the fabulous Fresco paints as watercolors. Your shading is amazing and I could also see a quote in the bottom right of the page. =)
JOFY stamps is where my PaperArtsy journey began. One of my favorite journals to flip through is an 8”x8” Dylusions journal that I used both sides of the pages so it appears landscape (8”x16”) filled with flowers from a few PaperArtsy designers as well as Dylusions, Art by Marlene, and random floral stamps in my stash. I really want to do another one using the stamps, dies, etc. that I’ve added to my collection over the past 5 years or so. I really enjoyed the whole process of creating in that journal - I didn’t overthink any of it - I just stamped the images, cut them out with my Brother ScanNCut, colored the images, created the background pages in the journal and adhered the images, a quote, and finishing touches and voila’ - completed pages! Completed journal! YAY! =)
Thanks for sharing some of your early creations. It was really nice to see you tried your hand at so many different styles on the way to finding your own unique style which is just so lovely. Thanks again for all you do to encourage and inspire. Have a great day… evening… 🙂
So happy you enjoyed seeing these early explorations... that "acrylics-as-watercolours" technique has very much stayed with me as part of my repertoire, but I think this might well be where it started.
And a big YES to your JOFY (and others) journal - that sounds like a lovely gentle way to play. No pressure, just the pleasure of stamping, cutting and colouring. Definitely an idea to revisit in new ways and with new supplies...
Thank you so much, as always, for your thoughtful response. Have fun playing.
A really nice book
Thank you - it's odd looking so far back in time (some of these are more than 10 years old), but useful I think to see the journeys we've taken.
Thanks, Alison, for sharing your journey. I'll have to go back through my journals and check them out. My style is much more mixed media than it was before 😊
It's an odd sensation looking back down the years like this, but I think it can sometimes be really helpful to see where we've come from (and maybe remember things which might want to be part of present-day playtime too!). Thanks so much for another lovely comment - have fun looking through your journals.
I love going back to previous books like this and see where you’ve been and decide if I want recreate any of them. Your lovely book is filled with many of the techniques and products I’ve tried over the years as well. Thank you so much for sharing your incredible art journey with us. I look forward to seeing more of it as it is created. ♥️🙏🏼
Thank you so much... it's sometimes an odd feeling looking back through time like this, but I think it's always worth checking in with the journeys we've taken.
wow! such beautiful colours and choices. so very glad you shared tyvm :) am saving this for future inspiration 🥰
Thank you so much... it's a slightly odd feeling looking back through all these older pages, but I'm really happy people are enjoying the journey!
It's really great so go back in time in jour journals.
Thank you, Tineke... you must have seen some of these the first time around!!
@@w0rdsandp1ctures That could certainly be so, but it's always nice to spot them again after some time has gone by.
Love this album
Thank you very much! It's odd looking back in time like this (some of these are more than ten years old) but helpful to see where one has come from!!
I LOVE looking at your precious journal & am inspired by your use of colour. I like how you’ve set out your beautiful table! Many thanks. ❤🇦🇺 (new sub).
Thank you... yes, that's my Books Books Books set up, and it makes me happy too!
Beautiful
Happy you enjoyed the flip-through - it's an odd sensation for me looking back down the years with these pages!!
The heart one, blue/yellow with circles n Paperartsy are my favorite ones.
Queue up “Rio” by Duran Duran, because as soon as I saw that Limperella (spelling?) page of the woman with the red lips, the lyric “cherry ice cream smile” came immediately to mind. I love how pictures bring the words. And the music too, in this case. 🙂 Your channel is so perfectly named.
Interesting to know that about the strong use of oranges and yellows in southern Bohemia. I chose to paint my house an adobe orange. I painted my kitchen orange and chose an orange couch. And orange is way outside of my preferred color palette of purples, greens, blues and grays. Maybe these color choices are my Bohemian/Moravian heritage coming out? 😂
Oh, how funny about the orange house decorating - that must be your Czech genes, yes!! Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment about the words/pictures and how they lifted you into musical associations too... Duran Duran brought another smile to my face. (Lynne Perrella - but absolutely not your fault... I did mean to put some links into the description and completely forgot, so that's a helpful nudge!) Thanks so much, as always, for your company on this creative journey.
Thanks! ❤
You're welcome.
Very nice…BUT you’ve come a long way, baby ❤❤❤
Thank you for that! Yes, it's odd looking back at these older pages - I can see the germ of some of what goes on today, but it seems an awfully long time ago!!
Loved the flip through. Love your work. I’d love to know about how to get your quote from Ann Frank stamp. (I think you said it’s one of your stamps)❤
Thank you so much - very happy that you are enjoying the creative journey - even looking back in time so far!
The Anne Frank quote is on my PaperArtsy set EAB08 Strength & Courage (a collection of quotes based around that theme - shop.paperartsy.co.uk/eclectica-alison-bomber-set-08-strength--courage-7517-p.asp ). You should be able to find it (or order it) from PaperArtsy stockists worldwide who carry my designs (not all PaperArtsy stockists carry all PaperArtsy designs - they have so many!). Here is the stockist list, alphabetically by country: blog.paperartsy.co.uk/p/find-stockist.html
If you have trouble tracking it down, let me know where you are based and I can try to point you in the right direction.
