    • @kkarx
      @kkarx Před 5 lety +1

      Nah, it is one of the weaker and more forgettable episodes with a weird plot (which is about as lame as the "robot alibi" episode which is itself probably the worst Columbo episode). I've seen them all several times and this one never sticked in my mind. Actually this episode reminds me more of flashy 60s than raw 70s and therefore feels like a retro trip which is quite confusing nowadays.

    • @ssnoc
      @ssnoc Před 5 lety +1

      kkarx - A true Columbo aficionado loves them all .... at least all the 70s series. Tell me, Double Shock wasn’t great either I suppose ? Or Any Port in a Storm? Whatever floats your boat my friend ..

    • @kkarx
      @kkarx Před 5 lety

      @@ssnoc I was never too fond of Any Port in a Storm tbh. Donald Pleaseance's murderer does not feel like a threat Columbo had any problem with. I love all Robert Culp episodes, the ones where the bad guy is Jack Cassidy are also classy. The early years of Columbo were not that great though there are few gems. The highlight of the serie is def. in between the end of the year 1973 and the beginning of the year 1975.

    • @kkarx
      @kkarx Před 5 lety

      @Harvey Norman Yeah that is the one. Imo it looks silly (it must have looked silly in 70s either) and there is not really much tension between Falk and Ferrer. The Last Salute to the Commodore is weak since it lacks Columbo's trademarks and even a slightly believeable point at the end. The early episodes like Requiem for a Falling Star, Étude in Black, etc... are weaker (not bad just weaker).

    • @ssnoc

    "LOVELY BUT LETHAL" (S03E01) was released on Sunday, September 23, 1973.
    CAST (17): Peter Falk, Vera Miles, Martin Sheen, Sian Barbara Allen, Vincent Price, and others.
    PLOT:
    Viveca Scott (Vera Miles) is the founder of Beauty Mark Cosmetics. David Lang (Vincent Price), the head of a rival company, learns that Beauty Mark has discovered a chemical formula that makes wrinkles disappear, and Lang pirates the formula by bribing a Beauty Mark chemist (Martin Sheen).
    Along the way to retrieving Beauty Mark's formula, Viveca (Vera Miles) kills the characters "Karl Lessing" (Martin Sheen) and "Shirley Blaine" (Sian Barbara Allen). Lessing's death is an accident but Shirley Blaine's death is *cold-blooded* premeditated murder! (Vera Miles is superb as homicidal "Viveca Scott"!)
    TERMINOLOGY:
    "Mark" (defined): n.
    1) a visible impression or trace on something, such as a line, cut, dent, stain, or bruise.
    2) an object of attack.

      Columbus in the 50’s was never more than 10 minutes partly because of programming. There’s hardware and software. The 50’s TVs were mostly hardware and too small so they couldn’t hold longer shows inside them. Nowadays the software programming and larger memory with teamwork allows you to watch all sizes due to the chips and LEDs and Motorola involvement. The circuitry and transistors with programming makes the difference to make an overall racism free product. The proof is in the pudding.
