I was lucky enough to meet Luke at the Red Bull Air Race in Indianapolis. Seriously one of the nicest guys ive ever met. I had to know how he stacked the odds in his favor when he jumped with no chute. He explained it to me in detail. Fascinating. Red Bull could not have a better ambassador.
This aerodrome is ideal, such an awesome aviator's paradise to live!!! Only drawback are the long winters with IFR conditions up there, wonderful all summer long though!

Can’t wait to see these two dudes rip it this afternoon on the plane swap. I remember I was visiting and did a skydive at Shelton WA and when I checked in and gave them my name, the sweet women said “OMG WE HAVE ENOUGH ANDYS AROUND HERE” lol

That would suck if you had a runway in your backyard and lost your license.
I’m guessing the fence by the runway is if deer or any wild life doesn’t try to run across the runway while landing or taking off your properties are amazing and super beautiful
I've had my own strips, 2 of them, one at a time, for 40 years now. I am so spoiled I think ALL pilots have one! 1ID9, it's not very long, but it's narrow! A friend who is a real good stick, easily landed his Maule M-5 on it.

Isn't an air field in Shelton about like having a pool in Shelton? Get to use it the 3 days it's sunny? I would think a place like Walla Walla or Yakima would be better. Cheaper land, better mountains, and most of the year is clear weather.

How do they get fuel to their airplane? Do they have a fuel trailer or something like that?
They fly themselves to an airport to refuel. Coming back, they make sure to have enough to go back for a refuel again +30 minutes of flight time.
Do you have to have any sort of air traffic control or because its private do you just take off.
A lot of small airports don't actually have ATC, depends on what sort of airspace it's in.

Really not that uncommon. I personally know 3 people with their own runway, and I live in small town texas.
I hope y'all got that approval of exemption before the plane swap, otherwise your backyard is ganna be brought from the skies to the ground. FAA doesn't like willful noncompliance of the FARs.

Depends on if you are close to a big airport. Most likely they do not have to talk to anybody.
