I applied the ASUS TUF Z790 gaming Wi-Fi beta update today but I think you are wrong about the webpage saying specifically for non-K updates, what I think the update text means is that it is an update for ALL but that the factory defaults have been changed for non-K CPU’s.

@@mikesunboxing Asus have confirmed the error/issue on their webpage and have told me they are going to correct it as follows:
      1. The new BIOS includes Intel microcode 0x129 to enhance the stability of Intel Core 13th and 14th Gen processors.
      2. The factory default settings are set to Intel Default Settings, which now include non-K processors.

PPS Mike I think what has happened with AMD 9000X is that it is more inline with 7000 65W not 7000X,
as you said 7000X would Self Boost to MAX Performance at 90°C/Power Limit like a Laptop 100°-105°/PL or nVIDIAGPU to 70°-80°C/PL which Reviewers & Commenters complained about being "Too Hot", later when 7000 was released they had lower Auto Boost temp/PL Stock but activating PBO allowed much higher Temp/PL similar to 7000X,
Der8auer did some PBO so it acts more like 7700X Temp/PL with his 9700X & it makes much bigger improvements in Productivity & even improvements in lighter gaming loads, so to me it seems AMD have gone back to the old formula of limiting out of box performance & Max Performance being user set.

If you're manually tuning voltages, power limits and power options (max wattage, max amperage. CEP, etc.), temp limits, disabling 2-core boost (which pumps CPUs full of voltage regardless of power/temp limits, etc.) then what does a CPU microcode change that couldn't be changed/tuned/edited in the BIOS with the older microcode?
Asking because, even after lots of research, I still can't find the difference between BIOS changes/settings and a CPU microcode change. I understand that the CPU microcode is sort of like a firmware for the CPU but if all those changes can be made/tuned/edited in the BIOS - even with older BIOS & CPU microcode versions - then what does the CPU microcode update actually do differently?

I am running AIO cooling, and my i5-13600k would spike to 95 a few times but stay in the 85 range most of the time. I am still not comfortable with those 95 spikes though, so I set my PL1 (Long) to 125 (the default is 181, but the cpu specs say it should be 125). This put my temps down a lot, my max temp is 75 degrees atm. Both settings were stable in cinebench, but I prefer lower temps for the sake of a slight performance loss. If you want to be safe, try lowering your PL1 (Long) to a lower W. This should help with your thermals. If you are not on an i5-13600k, just look up the specs for ur model and try setting PL1 to the same as the base in specs. If you are happy with it running a bit hotter than that setting, move it up in 25W increments until it gets hotter than you would prefer then move it down a little again. Ideally I would recommend never pushing above 90 degrees if you want a long lasting cpu. If you are overclocking and trying to push the cpu to its limit, then you may want to do that.

I have an AMD system mate. It’s just a lot of us have multiple computers, mate and we just want them all to work right because we all spent a lot of time and money on them, mate.
