  • We have a stand-off between two Michael Janich designed wharnecliffs here, one is a folder and one a fixed blade and just about the same size and weight. Ronin 2 and Yojimbo 2 are Japanese influenced names, if not blade styles and each is very effective for either martial blade work or EDC.

In addition to its unique blade shape, I think the compression lock on the Yojimbo is what makes this knife combatively useful and popular. Absolutely fidget-friendly, it deploys quickly, and requires just one finger while gripping the handle, to release the blade. Can't wait until the Spyderco copyright runs out and more knives have compression locks. One can only wonder what the Yojimbo would have used without the compression lock.

True! Compression lock works well, except for knives with flipper tabs.... 😬👍🗡️

Two great looking knives. Love how the design is self defense yet they also possess such a useful edc blade shape. Great comparison 👍

I'm no fan of Spyderco, but the Yojimbo looks good. Great video!

Those aftermarket grips look like a great upgrade for that Yojimbo. Been thinking about getting a Yojumbo, you know it's more my size.

Yes, interestingly, the Yojimbo is a more manageable smaller knife than it would seem.. 👍🗡️😁

I just ordered the Yojumbo since it came back in stock on WMK. Gonna be my first spyderco 😝 after watching your review I knew the blade was too small for me on the Yojimbo. But man I wish I could get those scale handles you got on yours for mines 😩

Great! Hope they make those scales for the Yojimbo soon! 👍🗡️👍

Great video. Which one do you think would work better for trail running?

Both are defense oriented, but if you're outdoors, maybe the Ronin 🗡️👍

I've had the Ronin 1 for ages. Version 2 is actually too big for me... I'm more interested in the Yojimbo 2.
Thanks anyway for the nice comparison. Greetings from Germany, Michael

I’ve had the Ronin for a couple of years and it is a great blade. I would like to pick up the Yojimbo sometime in the future. Thanks for sharing.

I wish they would make a smaller Ronin, maybe 6.5 inches over all. It would be great for EDC in a Scout carry sheath
