Yes. Since our devices pretend to be a CD changer the radio does not need to be aux ready.

Yes this will work on all E46 without navigation. The navigation radios require different parts.

IF you have the navigation radio your connection is in the trunk. Check our website for interfaces the connect in the trunk.
Will this work if I have no "SCAN" or "MODE" buttons on the radio? There's a "TAPE" button instead of the ones mentioned earlier. The car is 1999 bmw 318i e46.

I'm not sure I fully comprehend what you mean, but as far as I understood, no, there's no CD player nor a CD changer for that matter. I haven't taken the radio out of it's spot yet so I can't describe any wires or connections behind the panel. It appears to have a compact cassette player though. :D
Our adapter pretends to be a CD changer. So if that radio cannot control a CD changer it will not work. The radio must have a Mode or CD button I think.

Will it be possible to install an AUX adapter with this navigation system without damaging the system? I want to keep the system in place, since I want the car to be as original as possible.

Will the steering wheel controls work or do I need something else for that?
The steering wheel controls work for song up and down.

I don't really know who made these radios but as far as I know it will work on all non navigation E46 radios. You can email us if you think you have a weird radio.

Yes. If you had a CD changer you would actually have to disconnect it.
