I'm glad Jimmy pointed out the specific rule changes to carrying and travelling. Whenever I hear people talk about all the "new moves" guys got in their bag that they use now that nobody used then, there was a reason why nobody used those moves: they'd get whistled for violations. If you go back to the 70's, it was even more strict. That's why 70's and prior basketball looks like nobody knew how to dribble, because you were only allowed a very basic dribble.

I disagree with you. The reason why modern players look better is because of the new rules. The new NBA enables modern players to execute moves while palming, carrying, and traveling with the ball, which creates the illusion of enhanced skills.
