- • Destiny 2 Strand skate... advanced guide with keyboard Hey everyone, I wanted to make a quick guide explaining the strand skate on hunter. I hope that this video kind of shows the differences in a failed skate and a successful skate. apologies for weird mic audio.
Also: ShesMarie is a big inspiration for the practice of this method, for I would not have messed with this without their initial video. 👍
I found a much more consistent way to get it to work. If you press air move after you heavy attack and before you jump, it makes the timing much easier because as long as its between those two inputs it seems pretty consistent. Also for those familiar with the shatterskating, its the same inputs just on a slope instead of a ledge so any practice or macros should still work. (Ill put my autohotkey macro in a reply to this)

Thank you for taking the time to make this comment. This should be pinned to the top! It 100% is more effective and works on more surfaces! Thank you both!
@@chillaxbro107how do i use this?
Thank you for the info! I will definitely have to try this
I did it once first try and hadnt been able to do it since, and it was absolutely me holding forwards. Thank you for the vid!
No worries! Glad it helped for you!
One last thing! I’ve found out during play testing that starting on a flat surface that connects to a sloped object also works! Start on the flat object and when you get to the down slope, jump and air interact. It has worked every time for me so far.
Thanks cry and chillax I was trying with the same timings as shatter skate and couldn't even do it once but now I can do it almost every time
Of course! Glad I could help
Thx for the tech. The timing is abit more unique than well skate
Yeah it has been throwing me off as I practice it, but now that I know what to look for it’s fairly simple
Edit, the jump is the most important part in the sequence I often times find myself clicking interact to quickly so keep a close eye on that
I’ve been using a macro for shatter-skating and it works perfectly well for strand-skating as long as you’re on a slope, idk if it’s a mental thing if you’re not using a macro but the timings can definitely be the same
Good to know, I’m sure there will be more as time goes on with its discoveries as well.
@@cryyoticfate7969 I meant to come back to this and edit it but I forgot to, the same timings work for small slopes like the steps and some of the streets in neomuna, but for larger declines it doesn’t work and you just get launched forward and use the dive
Press heavy and dive at basically the same time :0
Going to have to try this for sure!
This one right here
i was so lost before this lol thanks
Ive learned a few things from skating, including how to Strand Skate on a flat surface without any slope or anything. If you wanna see I uploaded a video myself today, hopefully it helps
I’ll definitely check it out!
@@cryyoticfate7969 It is incredibly difficult from my experience, it may be how I'm doing the combo as maybe it's a less effective way of doing it, but it feels a lot more specific and precise.
Hey guys, I added a link in the description for the updated guide including my keyboard, hope it helps!
Appreciate what you are doing
@@lightlyfriedfishfillets8117 trying! I was very excited to see this subclass can skate like others. Other videos didn’t have any audio guides so I’m trying to do what I can to help!
@@cryyoticfate7969 love it man, keep up the awesome work
super helpful, thank you
I managed it on Xbox, my first try. Then proceeded to fail every other time. I'll just stick to shatter skate/blink
....macro + bind definitions?
also define "air dodge" as well as the fact i cant get the fling
thx for the jumpscare
no problem xD yeah I apologize
As a console player i hoped it was easy as shatterskate but nah i tryed it for like 3 hours and only managed do get it one time i will keep trying but for now i will stay one shatterskate
Yeah it’s pretty tricky that’s for sure. Honestly impressed you pulled it off on console. I can only imagine how difficult it is.
It's quite simple on controler once you get the right timing. But it needs a lot of practice. Now I manage to pull it off 7 times out of 10
If you're on console, consider reconfiguring your controls if necessary. Also, change your shatter dive from a "hold" to a "press".
And too anyone reading this with the xbox elite controller, use your paddles! I get it 9/10 times now.
@@ABadPassword oh yes! That’s a great point
My dude be using the exact same loadout as me what the
Heck yeah man!
I'm not doing it perfectly yet, I get it every now and then, but I'm still losing heavy ammo
I dont quite understand still, what do i need to do to do this
Yoo @CryyoticFate anyway you could show a on screen button visual for timing purposes?
Definitely! I can look into that. Once I have a version uploaded I’ll link it to the description
@@cryyoticfate7969 hey question so are you using the strand dive ability? Or is it just heavy into a jump? Or a heavy into a jump/dive
@@neverfaide yes strand dive. Heavy attack, then jump and air move very close together
@@cryyoticfate7969 sorry for so many questions but anytime i try it just heavy attacks and does the animation for air dive, any tips?
@@neverfaide try spacing the sword lunge a little longer, make sure you aren’t pressing anything else, and get the jump then air integration as close as possible. And no worries. Also are you trying it off of the same stairs? I find it works better if I’m closer to the top
Would you say it is consistent to execute if one traverses a general area?
Is very particular. If you’re looking for consistency I would go for the regular shatter skate but if you are in a place with slopes or stairs, this works very well
How do I do this on controller
As a controller player who could shatter skate off of anything these seemes almost impossible on console.
The timing is incredibly tricky.
Timing is identical to shatter skate from every time I do it
Interesting, i mean it will be different for everyone. But I do think the shatter skate is very forgiving compared to this one
The timing may depend on fps, just a little theory because games are weird
@@africanpenguin3104 interesting maybe I’ll have to test that as well
@@africanpenguin3104 nah did it on 30 60 120 and 240 all same
@@jag6807 guess it’s just inconsistent then
Anything for console players?
I would have to try it on my controller to get it down but at the moment I’m afraid not I apologize
@@cryyoticfate7969 no need to apologize my guy. It ain't your fault lol
@@cryyoticfate7969 you can do it on controller just very hard
as someone whos still trying to master it on controller i can do it very inconsistantly
@@clxckb4it340 makes sense. I can only imagine that timing. It’s hard enough on pc too without a macro. Less a controller
@@cryyoticfate7969 i keep diving after the skate how do you prevent that?
Is it at all possible to do it off a flat ledge? Or only slanted surfaces
If you start on a flat surface that heavy attacks into a slight sloped surface it still works
@@cryyoticfate7969 I’ve been struggling with it, but I’ll give it some more time. It keeps forcing me into an actual dive when I try it that way.
Edit: Got it to work, not as consistently as going directly down a slope, but it is possible! Thanks :)
Tip: Try to time it at the end of the sword uppercut, found it very easy once I got a visual cue
