    Seeing how happy and excited they all are about their ancestry and Norway makes me so proud to be a Norwegian.
    So much of their life and things that happened during the show and after really makes me smile and I'm happy they hold so much love for it and make it such a big part of their life.
    Loved the show and them

      You are so kind - thank you for all the amazing words! And it’s not just things during the show… the community you fall into after the show of SO many amazing former contestants is priceless.

    OMG! THAT WAS ME! I was a "fan" and then I got to go! GO to Norway! This is Dana Louise season 9. Hey to the 2 girls in Oslo who saw Kirstin and me on the tram to the gardens! LOL. You acted (silently in the Nordic fashion) like we were celebrities! You noted our AFN tags on our backpacks! LOLZ!!! Thank you to ALL of the friends that I have met over the years because of AFN! AMAZING!!! AMAZING!!! Two Cent Tacos or Tusen Takk as the Natives say! I want to go back and learn more!!!! #Samilodge #Sweatlodge #Sami 🌍

      Glad you enjoyed your trip. Thanks for the good times. I’ve really enjoyed meeting all our long lost American relatives through the seasons. You’re all so sweet. And don’t worry about accident Viking, nobody made a mockery of you, this was hit gentle teasing between “relatives” 🥰

      Love watching this show aswell and sad to see them pause production after tenth season, but its been incredible to watch how americans react and experience norwegian culture in all its forms.
      Great norwegian there btw! Though it was a fellow norwegian commenting first as the spelling and wording was flawless so you seem to be getting quite good at it.

      When I lived in the US a lot of American-Norwegian would say they were Norwegian, but actually going the extra mile and learning the language is something I have great respect for. Hope your Norwegian studies are going well, if you have any questions let me know and I'll gladly help you!

    An American living in Norway mentioned this series in one of his YT videos and since I've visited friends in Norway several times I thought I'd check it out in case the programme used locations I might recognise. I got hooked and have now watched every episode, except season 9 which I can't find anywhere.

      Not at all !
      Of course the cultural differences are different and something we can laugh about. And they are put in positions that native norwegians would make a fool of themselves.
      The participants show themselves as fun, sporty and willing to give. Respect !
      This show is charming, and shows that no matter where you grow up we are really not that different in the end ;)

    • @TheAccidentalViking
      @TheAccidentalViking Před 3 lety

      @Gus Erland How does that work? I haven't lived in Norway long and when watching this show, it was even less time. I just feel embarrassed as hell for these folks. Perhaps it was who I was watching it with and how he was commenting. I've seen how Norwegians make fun of foreigners.

    • @larslphillips
      @larslphillips Před 3 lety +9

      As Americans visiting Norway for the first time and competing in a variety of Norwegian themed competitions, there's no doubt that hijinks would ensue as we struggled to pick up the language, or accidently inferred that a Danish was Norwegian ;-) There's no hiding the premise of the show which we were obviously aware of, and in those awkward moments or struggles we were laughing right along side the audience.
      With that being said the entire show is such an incredible journey and and paints each of the contestants in such a positive light. I like to describe Alt For Norge as almost more of a travel show where Norwegians get to see their home country through the virginal eyes of Norwegian Americans who are blown away by the beauty of Norway while visiting locales that 90% of Norwegians have never explored. It's a way for Norwegians to discover truly what an amazing place their country is, while allowing American the opportunity to reconnect with their roots and meet the family they never knew they had.
      No doubt one of the coolest experiences one could ever imagine.

    • @TheAccidentalViking
      @TheAccidentalViking Před 3 lety +1

      @@larslphillips As long as you had fun. Perhaps it's good that that most don't pick up on the belittling and ridiculous pettiness of the tasks and side comments (in Norwegian so the contestants can't understand them)
