- The FN FAL (Fusil Automatique Léger) was designed by Dieudonné Saive and Ernest Vervier from 1947 to 1951. It is also called the FN LAR (Light Automatic Rifle), the English translation of its Belgian French name. The fact that there are so many variants, made by different countries and different names for the same models, causes a lot of confusion regarding what particular FAL is in what movie. For the most part, only the major variants of the gun will have been seen in movies with wide distribution, (the original Belgian version, U.S. versions, the Israeli Versions and British/Commonwealth Version). The early FAL prototypes were chambered in intermediate cartridges like 7.92x33mm and .280 British, in an attempt to create an assault rifle along the lines of the German Sturmgewehr 44, but after 7.62x51mm NATO was adopted as the standard NATO rifle cartridge, the FAL design was altered to accommodate the more powerful round.

You only missed Border movie . that has like lots of FALs in there. but still Okay .
Rapid fire 7 minutes 26 seconds that's the name of the movie
You forgot '71
The original wooden stock FN FAL was a solid piece of rifle. As our sergeant (Belgian Army 1986) mentioned : if you run out of bullets you can still use it as a club. The later "plastic" versions were not that solid.
FN FAL is the gun you draw when your a kid
Except it looks cool
It never looks like the gun you draw as a kid. Something like an AR-10 would be one of them.
If you were a kid in Canada in the 70's and 80's, you would totally know how to draw an "FN", as we called them.
The FN FAL is widely used in Brazil, all movies displayed the most realistic is not shown: Elite Squad 2 (Brazillian Movie)
I played Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. One mission takes place in Brazil and the gangs attack you with FALs. Interesting attention to detail there.
FN FAL:
The 'Right' Arms of the Free World
I came here to say this.
There is a movie missing (besides Red Dawn from 1984): The Wild Geese with Richard Burton, Richard Harris, Hardy Krüger, Roger Moore and Stewart Granger. The mercenaries use FAL (probably L1A1) and the Zembalese soldiers, too.
It's a surprising omission - it's like the OG "fantasy 1970s African mercenary" film with FALs all over the place. There's also all those episodes of 1970s Dr Who with UNIT, and bits of Who Dares Wins, the Lewis Collins film. And Tumbledown, the Falklands drama documentary.
wait since when did red dawn had fal's?

? @adiamond563 Since always. Search for a video named "Red Dawn (4/9) Movie CLIP - Guerilla Warfare (1984) HD" on channel "movieclips". If I put the link up here it will be erased. Around 2:30 into the clip the enemy soldiers have FALs. Supposedly they are Nicaraguans.

Siege of Jadotville is underrated. I also liked Danger Close. Your compilations are epic.
Well well well I was about to go to sleep but I can't miss an episode with my fav rifle now can I?
I would really like to see a complication on the Beretta m9 and the mp5. Keep up the amazing content, my dude. I really enjoy it a lot
I think there was a scene in red dawn ( 1984 ) where Cuban soldiers were using fn fals, I believe. Also, Dolph Lundgren used one with a grenade launcher attachment in red scorpion.
Exactly. I wondered if these weren't Cuban soldiers but from some other Central American country.
@@blackcathardware6238 Nicaragua was part of the invading forces in Red Dawn
@@blackcathardware6238 They were Nicauraguan soldiers, if I recall!
@@helbent4 I think you're right. I have to re-watch Red Dawn as I cannot remember that these solders were marked as being Nicaraguans. And I wouldn't put FALs in Nicaraguan inventory either. But maybe these were 'liberated" South-African R1 donated to Nicaragua by their socialist American neighbour Cuba. Who knows what the story teller had in mind. 😀 Unfortunately we had G3s and I never had a chance to even touch a G1 (as FALs were called here).
@@blackcathardware6238 The fan theory I heard was that as Nicaraguans commonly used the "FN" (as the FAL is called here in Canada) this was who those soldiers were. Cubans would be using AKs. Mexico was also a Soviet ally but mainly used the G3. During the Nicaraguan Civil War (1978-79) both government (Civil Guard) and rebels (Sandinistas/FSLN) all used FNs. Cuba supplied 20000 FNs to the FSLN late in the war but it's unclear where these came from. Eventually, Nicaragua would transition to AKs by 1990 but the FN would have been very common there when the movie was made in 1984 (although it is supposedly set in 1989).
A great rifle even if it’s recoil was very heavy
Real men don't complain about recoil sonny Jim.
@@MarvelousSevenlol, soldiers complain all the fucking time; recoil is no exception. A gun could shoot homing bullets that they don't even need to aim to kill and they will bitch about recoil or how heavy it is.
You must have had stick arms.
Thanks for the video, hope you can do other battle rifles soon like the BAR, M14 and so on .
Appreciate the content grratly
I hope for the BAR
lmao the recoil of the FAL in movies is not the real recoil of the FAL
Also its kinetic 😂.
I do note that none of the scenes shown where an FN (as they are called in Canada) is fired full-auto is anything hit!
Just a tip. It’d be a great idea to put the names of the movies in the clips or the time stamps next to the movies in the comments. Not all of us know these clips
There is a pinned comment that has most of them.
Argentine films use version 50.86 the stock was foldable
10:04 we do a little trolling
No doctor who is wild. Unit rocked those bad boys
And they got wrecked. Except for the Navy against the Sea Devils... doctor who is the reason why I love the FN FAL lmao!
4:51 and 4:53
May I know the source?
Thank you every much sir.
I really wish you’d say the name of the movie during the video!
In this compilation if you don't have an FN FAL you're on the losing side
in part 3.45 what is the name of the movie
Hello! Please tell me what track is at the very beginning of the video. Drumbeat. Thank you .
What about Hot Fuzz?
I suggest the either the m249/m240 or the m60.
FAL for the win 🧐
It's a very handsome battle rifle.
Didn't make the cut but honourable mention:
Red Dawn (1984)
Under Fire (1983)
The Odd Angry Shot (1979)
Romancing the Stone (1984)
The Handmaid's Tale (1990)
Escape from LA (1996)
Fallout TV Series (Season 1, 2023)
The Odd Angry Shot was on my miss list ..still a classic ...nice one!
@@amsuther Thanks! Well, put some shrimp on the barbie and crack open a Fosters', it's available for free on CZcams if you haven't seen it in a while.
Great compilation!!! Love the Fal
Bad Boys 2 had an OSW FAL
Wild Geese had a lot of them.
What did Al Pacino use in "Heat"? Was it an FNC or did he use a sawed off FAL? I've seen some soldier saw the barrel down, add a muzzle brake and install a folding stock for a homemade Para-FAL.
how many variants does fn fal have ? Does weapon use in VietNam war ?
ANZAC used the L1A1 SLR during the vietnam war
Galil plis
I have a question, when Al Pacino shot Tom Sizemore's character in "Heat" he clearly used some kind of FN rifle. Was it a short barrel FAL converted to 5.56mm? I've seen people rebarrel FALs for that caliber so it's not impossible.
FN FAL, 1:20 slotting floppies since 1964
What about the movie The Wild Geese? That movie was flooded with FALs.
Taylor Negron. From “Mr. Pizza Guy” to Presidential candidate assassin. RIP
Right arm of the free world
The gun that FAL'd so badly in the 1968 war, that the Israelis parked it and took on the Galil in 308.
A 2004 trip to a GSmith and NC SWAT Armorer (Former Navy LtCom), where he did some drill and tap on an AR10 Swan Sleeve, and he got a look at the 308 Galil with Chuck Taylor Mods, appears to have helped the 2007 EBR upgrade of the M14/1A.
Chuck T and Jeff Cooper were big on the 16" 308 Battle Rifle. It carried on after some years of silence, and the need for something real in Afghanistan. It seems to be sticking in the 308 variant of the M7, had they dared to make a 13" 308 variant it would be nakedly apparent. 308 will be getting some attention as the barrels go towards 13" and the suppressors are added.
Enjoy the vids on 20" and 16" 308s. They are no longer contending for the need.
you should do the spas 12 in movies and tv next time its a pump action and semi automatic shotgun
"The Odd Angry Shot" Australian Movie

he made the second film about elite troops 2, so it kind of doesn't count because it also has FAL in it
You didn’t say what movies and tv shows are they.

The FAL wasn't popular in America like the AR-15 is although there was one attempt to adapt it.

ok sorry joke a side, what is really happening ??
That even was Bloody Sunday, happened on January 30th, 1972, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, which is still under British sovereignty.
The British (mainly the English) and Irish have had a tense relationship for many centuries, and the Troubles that lasted between the 1960s to 1998 was the height of these hostilities between Catholics and Protestants in the 20th Century.
On that day, there was a civil rights march to protest the British government’s internment of Catholics without trial. Reports are mixed, whether it was a breakdown of communication, or if some members threw stones and rubbish at the soldiers, either way, warning shots then turned into a full on shooting.
Nearly 30 Catholic civilians were shot, with 13 being killed at the scene, and 15 wounded. One died four months later due to complications of his injuries.
The event was covered up initially, but after the Good Friday agreements in 1998, the event has been highly covered, analysed and criticised.
Menendez theme there, bro
Rhodessia should not have fallen.
What the name of that movie? 3:47
