The switch on the side is for a triangle folder. The reason the optic mount doesn't work is because the Zastava is a Ugo style it uses a specific mount. when you go to buy one make sure it's not a Ugo style.

Yep.... Yugo and AKM require different hardware.
Com-Bloc side rail mounts come in several sizes & orientations. The new one on the block is the Zastava mount that only works on under-folder, Zastava rifles.
Then you have SVD/SKS mounts. These are too low to fit on an AK. They also come in offset to the left & centered over the bore.
Next up is your AK/Saiga mount. This one is much higher than the SVD mount, but will fit on SVDs. These also come in offset to the left & centered over the bore. They allow you to use the iron sights.
There are also low AK/Saiga mounts. These sit a hair above the top cover and block the iron sights.
There are more oddities, as some mounts have pins to limit their forward travel, and those often don't fit on a rifle they weren't made for.

The little "nipple" on the side is to secure an actual folding stock that folds using the actual folding mechanism on the side of the receiver.

One good thing about AR is almost every accessory is compatible with every AR platform and if not then there is an adapter for it to work…AK you have to make sure you get the correct accessory for the style/country/model which makes modifications more difficult than AR

Have you looked into mid west industries side rail or rs regulate side rail are the best I think that will work perfect for you. And you can change out the gas tube to a altimak and make it nicer looking :P
3:00 mark. It’s a latch for the factory / original design folding stock. Also Yugo AK don’t use standardized AKM optic mount. (Look at rs regulate or other akm pattern mounts)

To get on target and save ammo with the bolt action is to pull the bolt out look down the barrel and set the scope to where the barrel is pointing at the target
The tab on the side is for holding in original style metal frame stocks folding stock lock
Yo GHG get a us palm black pistol grip for that ak or a tango down one. The tango down ones have options with a storage compartment.
I have the same PSAK,, I have a RS Regulate AK-301 Front biased lower with the RS Regulate AK-300 modular side mount. Works perfect

PSA AKs are made to work with Midwest Industries or RS Regulate scope mounts.
Yes PSA does make one most of the time they are sold out but try to put your Dot on that one because PSA Mount is also a little off to me but once you put the data on it's on point
Rs Regulate makes side mounts for AKs that work great,not cheap but they will work for you.Midwest industries makes one too just don't get Yugo pattern.Yugo mounts don't work with regular AKs.Primary arms sells alot of AK stuff.
The brand AK Master Mount works very well for optic rails. That’s what I got, it’s been great for me. And an easy ish install
Midwest industries has a scope mount…I have a Palmetto with the Midwest industries side scope mount and it works perfectly. Also you can adjust the tension by loosening or tightening the screw on the mount.
Many Zastava accessories won't fit other AK's. Try Optics Planet, the have side mounts like Midwest Industries and Arsenal for example.
Pretty much nothing works with Yugo AKs. They were reverse engineered anyway. Russia never shared the TDP with Yugoslavia. Probably why Zastava AKs still have metallurgy issues

Yugo mount with a Akm variant is not going to work. Same as the furniture will not with either. That on the left tab is for the folding triangle stock to hold it in place. The gray button on the right side is to make it fold

Get the Midwest Industries scope mount! They have the best mounts dawg. It fits perfectly and holds zero when you try to take the mount out.

You need a akm pattern scope mount. Zastava is a different spec. Same goes for furniture.

Get an arc division complete slide for the 43x it comes ported.
The “nipple” is for the AK triangle folding stock to lock it in place so it doesn’t swing back and forth. The Zastava side mount doesn’t work because they make their AK’s very differently with their parts. Try a Midwest Industries. Those should be “standard”
The piece on the side that you guys don’t know about is a latch because it’s a side folder that latch keeps your stock locked in place

Psa has the link for the rail mount on the site and the brace should fold and lock on that clip on the side

Yugo pattern attachments won't fit on non Yugo(Yugoslavian) pattern rifles. Also, you can cut/replace the barrel, but you can't make it a pistol by just putting a brace on it. Any registered rifle/lower can not be converted to a pistol. You would have to SBR it if you convert to under 16"
You could get another plate cover that covers spring that has a optic mount on top

Grab a couple of the shield arms metal mags for the glock 43x makes it 15 +1. If you want to get saucy, add the 5 round extention to the mag for 20+1. You got to get the metal mag release to.
Look into the attero rail mount for the EOtech.

Zastava is yugo pattern and you just need to get an akm pattern mount and that will fix your problem. When dealing with ak’s you have akm pattern parts and you have yugo pattern parts. That gun is an akm

Your Zastavas are Yugo pattern AK, the oddball AK. You just need an AKM optic mount….which is basically every other mount that is not for Yugo
