Extraordinary. I saw sho do this at a reading. They’re so similar. Both spectacular!
Currently playing at the La Jolla Playhouse little bit north of San Diego, CA. Amazing production with Eden, she is incredible!!!

LYRICS:
woman is plane, lines, form
woman is plane, color, light
woman is speed, green, shattered
woman is powerful
woman is shape, breath, form
woman is bone, muscle, light
woman is curve and shadow
woman is beautiful
black night bodies and breath
i am alive
black water
roll me another one
tobacco and opium
i am on fire
please let me blow the smoke into your open mouth here in the light
woman is gone all night
sneak past the room where my daughter sleeps
sleeping child
woman is flesh kiss lifting
woman is Rafaela
black night holding its breath
are we alive?
black eyes falling fast into them
tobacco and opium
flicker, match, light
please let me hold you close
here in the breathing dark
don’t open your eyes
a painting’s not a woman
or a war horse
or a glittering sky
a painting is canvas, pigment, plan, and design
always design
every minute design
teach me to live
teach breathe
teach me to see
no question
no hesitation
kiss me
i want to feel your soft lips
your sharp teeth
feel your nails in my flesh
your light
your color
your pulse
your sweat
your speed
your muscle
your flesh
your skin
your bone
your shadow
your breath
your blood
your mouth
your cry
shattered
your heartbeat
your heartbeat
your heartbeat
your heartbeat
your heartbeat
warm dawn, bodies and breath
i am alive
damp sheets
watching your body rise
tangled hair on the pillow
in the soft light
please let me watch you here
don’t wake up turning
don’t open your eyes
This really validates me because I could of swore she was saying Rafaela, but always doubted myself lol
2:02 WHAT THE FUCKKKKK
Knowing we’re still 2+ years away from a cast album AT LEAST is…rough.
I'm desperate for a video bootleg of this if anyone has one. willing to pay.
does anyone have lyrics for this song?
Surprisingly pitchy.😢
This performance was brimming with nuanced emotion and power, and I feel like the mere focus on labeling it as 'pitchy' serves as evidence of our society's reliance on digitally perfected audio and autotune. There are countless elements, beyond pitch, that contribute to a spectacular vocal performance. Considering Mrs. Espinosa's display of impressive range, power, skill, and control, her "pitchiness" can certainly be forgiven here in my opinion. We should to bring back the idea of imperfect voices/vocal performances being OKAY - we won't have room for other brilliant performers who may not give the best vocal performances on paper but nonetheless are needed in the industry (Elaine Stritch, Carol Channing...I could go on.)
i still think about this all the time.
