- Hi guys and welcome back to my channel! In this video I was inspired by Zhaomaster’s video, “I Asked 1000+ Colleges for a Free T-Shirt” and other similar video/blog posts on this, I love free stuff and have a brother soon to be going through the college process so thought this would be a fun experiment/challenge!
These schools were not paid, blackmailed, etc in anyways to send these items. I emailed them and they chose to send anything or not. Most of the schools didn't, and most just send information.
If more schools send things, I will make a part 2!

So annoying. I literally delete between 50 and 100 of.these emails every day. It wastes 30 minutes to an hour every day.

HEY GUYS! Thank you so much for watching the video 💘 I have been getting alot of the same Qs on here & on other platforms regarding how/who I contacted, & what I put in the email:
I reach out to the admissions &/or marketing team for the school! You can just google this/find it on the school’s website :)
In the email I just talked about my interests/extracurriculars (make it customized to you!), asks if they have any (insert whichever type of stuff youre interested in!) they would like to send, & included the school name in the email! You can find templates online, they have also been linked below, but you can just keep it simple/word it in your own words without needing a template!

@@WatchingHaileyJade Hi! its hard to say as they don't notify me when they send stuff (I just check my mail each day to see what I get!) but I would say an average of a week or so! some schools are SUPER fast like w/i a few days of emailing them while others may be a few wks, but typically a wk or so seems like! :)

Yes, you could search up college names and copy and paste and it will bring it to their site and search contacts and look for the admissions contact email

Please Don’t do this. I’ve contacted several schools as a recruiter and it makes it harder for student who are genuinely interested. Show interest to schools you actually want to attend. Read Mgs received
Dear Recruiter, We love giving away free t-shirts and other cool gear to interested students. Unfortunately, we don't send a lot of it in the mail. We DO give t-shirts away to all students that visit campus. We want to make sure that you can hold them up and pick out the right size. Plus, it saves on packaging and postage. Would you believe that some students (not you of course 😉) request free stuff from hundreds of schools just to see how much they can collect? Sadly, they're ruining it for the TRULY interested students that just want to show off their school pride.
I couldn't agree more. If you are going to ask for something, just don't lie. That's why companies don't do anything out of kindness anymore because of scammers. That is what lying about who you are makes you-a scammer.

She lied saying she was a prospective student. Took the resources away from actual Prospective students and cost resources under a lie. Many places will send you promo items, you just don't need to lie.

Is there a list of all the emails, maybe one that you could send them all at once? Not all of them are very easy to find

at what time during the year did you email the colleges asking for the merch?
This is gonna be a stupid question but I’m interested in doing this, when writing the email did you attach info to where they should send the stuff to? And what exact things did you say? Ex: if you wrote address, zip codes etc etc.

@@clearvaluetax1741 I wouldn't recommend doing this anymore since there is a lot of discussions via Reddit with this happen and honestly, the admissions have just had enough and what's worse is that after you email them, you may be added to the mailing list. But yea, I can say doing this is time-consuming, especially when you get rejections too.

@@kaylacolbert6386 and for those who are looking for a template, I would definitely recommend changing up the wording when can to make it more unique as they get these emails daily! Most schools say no because of the high volume/think these are not actually interested students, so anyway you can make it different helps!

A way to send bulk emails at once is using google sheets/scripts to send them. Heres the link developers.google.com/apps-script/articles/sending_emails

You can do a Bcc (Blind Carbon Copy) where you send the same email to each college but they can't see who else you sent it to

Actually all this is doing is forcing universities to not send anything to anyone. I’ve worked for two separate colleges that decided not to send items any more because of the amount of requests. You’re also creating an immense work load for student workers and minimum wage employees that still have to screen your requests.

So you got promo items aimed at excited prospective students by lying? There's no reason to lie.I'm surprised at that conduct from a graduate student. Just request promo materials for one of several true reasons. Misleading colleges ruins the experience for upcoming students, it's selfish. Lying for ADL-promotion compromises your character and integrity. Universities have promo items for free, the only people you are affecting are those who are reading your emails at those Universities and putting thought into their response because they want to support you.
