Elvis was classically the best looking man I've ever seen. But BRANDO was just RAW SEX APPEAL. That's the difference. There was nothing classically perfect about his face with that forehead and nose. But all put together he was one very handsome man.

I think for the record he did have several same-sex relationships. So I would say he was bisexual.

    • @irish66
      @irish66 Před 7 lety +8

Let me say I have nothing against gay people. It's just how he comes across in this movie. Anyway, i didn't say he was gay, I said he looked gay.
But repeating what I wrote above in another comment. He had a long relationship with the actor Christian Marquand. So I guess he must been at least bisexual. The documentary says that his relationship with the french actor was the only really long lasting relationship he had. My favourite actor is Paul Newman. Since his death, i have read stuff online, that he had a relationship with Brando, or maybe it was Dean. Whether he had or not isn't going to make me like him any less. I should say that I usually don't write phrases such as "gay as fuck". Maybe I was feeling a bit frivolous that day. But I still think Marvin could take him any time :)

No male actor really comes close to showcasing the amount of small mannerisms a real life human being can display. Ricky Gervais is excellent at it too, but in a humor setting, and generally actresses are the best at it, but are foolishly overlooked simply because they are women.

I challenge your assertion that Brando was the "ORIGINAL REBEL FOR THE AGES" and offer up the notion, that the real originator was Montgomery Clift.
"The true originator of the rebellious twentieth-century antihero was
Montgomery Clift...not Marlon Brando or James Dean...the restrained
performer with the inner tension and those ancient, melancholy
eyes...his presence so unobtrusively strong that it lingered even when
      he was off-camera.

Did anyone know that this movie is why Honda launched its "You Meet the Nicest People on a Honda" ad campaign in the '60s? They wanted to make motorcycles for everyday people, not just associated with the rebellious crowd. Whether or not you think it was the best decision, I guess you could say Brando had an effect so far that it affected the marketing decisions of Honda, now a company that not only became popular in motorcycles, but became renowned for its cars and now even makes airplanes and robots today.

In fact, in 1953, rock and roll was already on national television (the series starring James Dean and had music by Bill Haley). But mostly in jukeboxes and on the radio there was jazz, jump-blues and rhythm and blues. Considering that the film takes place in California, a good example of song would be "Hound Dog" by Big Mama Thornton.

I have to agree. I'm only 24 and usually I shy away from calling anyone who is now dead or would be 50 years older than me if they were alive HOT. But... if I were his age back in the 1950's, I would have been obsessed with this man. He is beautiful!

The old man walks from the soda fountain and says “what are you protesting“Marlon Brando reply “what have you got“. Interesting. The old man ,inadvertently , revealed his the secret of existence. The reason of life. “Well , we have kids, lives, we go to school, have picnics, get haircuts, and raise a family.

Another Brando movie to see is " One Eyed Jacks" which came out in 1961 or 1962....
A western, but like none other you have ever seen...when did you ever see a cowboy get a girl pregnant? Some funny lines also with Karl Malden in it....he was with Brando in A Streetcar Named Desire and On The Waterfront...
Also was partner with Michael Douglas on TV in "Streets of San Francisco"...check it out.

Brando's jacket is NOT a Schott Perfecto, it is a jacket from a Canadian comp'ny named DURABLE, Japanese collectors have long known that DURABLE is the brand of leather jacket Brando wore in the wild one and make no bones about it. Here in the states though because Schott survived and DURABLE did not, Schott is able to take the claim to Brando's jak...DURABLE is not around to dispute it! Don't take anybody's word, check the details for yerself

This movie was banned in England for almost 15 years. I guess for the 1953 crowd it made some a little frightened. Movies now would make the 50's crowd have heart attacks. The English more worried about Marlon Brando and his motorcycle then their horrific past which is 1000 times more scary then this movie.
