- I'm working with wood again. I had an old piece of board that I wanted to turn into decor. I used decoupage to transform it. And of course I wanted a cow for my farm. I had been seeing them and thought I needed one. Hope you enjoy the video.

When I was young, we lived on a small farm with cows, pigs and chickens. My sister and I made pets out of all of them. We wanted a horse so bad and Dad said no because they were just “money takers, not money makers” like the rest of our farm animals. Well, unbeknownst to Dad, my sister and I started to sit on the back of one of the more tolerant cows (black and white, just like the cute cow head you made here) while he ate in the barn. He got so used to us sitting on him that we rode him around in his pen. Eventually, the rides traveled out of the barn and Dad caught on. Dad gave in and bought us genuine pony, Ladybug, and Spot was relieved of his “horse” detail. I’ll be making one of these for sure in memory of our dear ole Spot. I love all of your creations! I can’t wait to watch your latest episodes! Blessings from Ohio!
I just loved hearing about your memory of the farm. My husband calls our horse and donkey's hay burners....lol
The little bit of shading was just the touch it needed. It's adorable
Thanks!
Love all your projects...even the ones the viewer shared from your ideas. Watching your video is always highlight of my night.
Thank you Sheila!
Love both projects today, but the 🐄 stole my ❤!😁
Thank you!
I love both of these projects and I think the messy bow makes the cow!😊
Thank you!
The water pens are AMAZING! THESE ARE BEAUTIFUL PROJECTS ❤❤❤
You don't want your paper stark white if your board is that aged and worn. BOTH should look like they aged together ❤
I like the patina on the handle of the Scratch feed sign. The welcome cow sign is so cool.
Thank you!
Love the cow! You did an awesome job from drawing to cutting it out and painting it.
Thank you!
Both of your projects are gorgeous! Love em both!
Thank you!
Both projects turned out great, Sandy....but the Black Baldy is probably my favorite, only because it saddened me to see that beautiful patina on the board painted over. It still turned out very nice but oh...I just loved the "before" on that board. Glad you rusted the handle too. Good job
Thank you! I think a lot of people way preferred the natural patina on the wood. I really should have left it alone.
love them both! always inspired by your work, a horse head with the ribbons ss a mane would look cute as well, I have a niece who loves horses.
Thank you! Yes a horse would be cute also!
Oh my goodness Sandy, Ive fallen in love with your cow. She’s adorable. You did a fantastic job on her. I’ve got to make one for my front door or any door I don’t care. I just love her even with her cute messy bow. It looks like her bangs.
Doing the shading , oh boy it’s been a long time since I’ve done that. I always had bit of a problem doing shading. I’ll practice some before I start LOL. I was impressed with the other one where you added the nose n eyes. You’re really good at free handy. I haven’t forgotten the chicken n rooster on that cool piece of board. Great job on it. The cow stole my heart. ♥️♥️♥️😊👍👍👍🌟
Thank you Shelly! I have almost forgotten how to shade. Much easier to use wax now. Thought I’d try it to see if I could still do it. Not as good as I use to be!
Really awesome
Thank you!
If you want a torn but straight torn edge, try laying a straight edge metal ruler right next to where you want the tear, then start tearing along one edge of the ruler, holding the paper down tight to the table while you tear ... So hard to explain some things 😜😜😜 and, I never have a plan either! I just pick one or two elements and then just start from there and evolve as I go!
I totally understand what you are saying using the ruler to tear it. Thanks for the reminder!
I had the some problem with the water pen, I was ready to toss it in the trash in frustration....turn it the opposite direction and it will open so you can refill with water. Someone had to tell me, too 🙂 Always love your videos!!
Oh my! Mine already went to the trash. Thanks for letting me know. I might get another one now that I know that.
I thought I threw them in the trash but found them in with my brushes. Thanks for the tip! It worked!!!!
@@sandyscountrycrafts yay!! Lol
It might be cool to use coffee water to tear. It would leave an aged edge.
That might just be a good idea! Thanks!
Put ur screws in from behind on the little board u used vinegar on counter sink the screws so ur little board will lay flat
Thanks, I'll do that next time!
I have to agree with annuitcptis...the wood should have been left the way it was.
While editing the video and seeing the wood, I can agree.
💜💜💜🙏🏽
I really like today's crafts. I can't find link to pattern for cow or chicken image. Not sure if you forgot or I just don't know where to look. TFS these projects Sandy
I forgot to put it In the description. I will do that in the morning. Thanks for the reminder!
I added the links.
Thanks Sandy. Looking forward to your next video!@@sandyscountrycrafts
I think that handle on the wood piece turned out perfect! What did you use to give the rust effect? That was the Dixie Bell patina spray?
Yes, it was the Dixie Belle.
Did you hear me Sandy?Im answering you!!! Lordy be xo
I guess I was concentrating and didn't her you! 🤣🤣🤣
It was almost a sin to paint that beautiful piece of wood white and then put a chicken sticker on top of it. That piece of wood should've been left the way it was and be used for something that showecased its beauty. What a waste!!!
You're just an A$$hole plain and simple! It's one thing to offer constructive criticism to others, but if you have to be so ugly when stating your opinion, it should never be shared! Remember, CZcamsrs are human also and have freaking feelings. That board may have looked better left alone according to some, but others may love it painted. Why did you have to be so cruel in stating your opinion? Do you realize that this ONE comment could effect this beautiful individual to her core and really damage her self confidence? Think about what you say and HOW you say it before actually typing it out, writing it, or saying it out loud... Ask yourself if you'd speak to your own mother like you're about to speak to someone else!
While editing the video and seeing the wood, I can agree.
I should've also pointed out in my previous comment that your end product also looked very beautiful and you did a great job. You are very talented. I just wished it would have been a different piece of wood, I absolutely love distressed natural wood and I like to see it preserved as much as possible. Didn't mean to sound mean spirited. Sorry!!
I love what she did with it , I absolutely love it ❤
