    Wow this is eye opening. In Christianity women are not allowed to speak over a man or teach and are told to be quiet in church obviously this doesn’t happen anymore 🤷🏻‍♀️😆 something I struggle with is how the things we are told to do we don’t do it and why ? I don’t understand why Christianity only follows certain things . I respect Islam as it sticks to its teachings and doesn’t bend to cultures of societies etc .

Maybe some Muslim community made a fuss about this because they lived in society which had strict separation between men and women (like many place in Middle East and South Asia), so looking another gender became such a big thing.

    Although it doesn’t change how god sees us it does change how men see us as women, I think women are just as distracted by men as they are by us. The fact that women have to manoeuvre around the male gaze and not vice versa is absolutely ridiculous. Who’s to say that maybe a man prostrating in front of me won’t distract me?
    So yes I think we need to change the way women are seen in modern Islam.

  • @crystalmorales7196

    As salam alaikum السلام عليكم. I can recall my early days of being a new Muslimah and feeling a bit "off" by being behind the men inside the Masjid for Salah, but I understood from an historical point, that the men would defend the Mosque if under attack. They would guard the women if something came up especially during the early Islamic times when armies or tribes would attack or try to run them out of cities etc. for me, 9ne day a couple of years ago truly made me appreciate the separations.
    for example: one year we had a drunk and "high" male enter our mosque from off the street just walking by..and was digging around in the books on the shelf, rambling, not responding to the brothers, and at that point, I truly appreciated that I was able to be behind the partition we have (which can be moved if sisters want to see to the front)- as the man who seemed lost, disoriented, confused and only said a few words about being homeless, did not have a chance to see me nor know I was there. All of the men that happened to be still in the mosque when that man came in, suddenly gathered near him asking if he was okay, gave him water, asked if he needed a ride, asked if he truly was interested in Islam as he was standing inside a mosque! And so they dealt with the man kindly and made sure we were protected just in case the person was there for other reasons. That same year, we had letters sent to our mosque from Christians/churches nearby blaming us Muslims for all sorts of problems from 9/11 to any other "terroristic threat" or headline in the news. So we were already a bit more aware and couscous that there could possible be a negative attacks to our mosque or partitioners. In my city, just within the last 2 years, we’ve had three different groups of teenagers or young adults smash in windows at two different mosques and caught in camera. Anyhow, although I felt a bit strange at first being in the back, coming from being a Baha’i Faith member of many years.. I know that in most cases, everyone no matter gender, are at the mosque to pray and study Quran etc, not bother anyone or us women. because I am disabled both visually and hearing, I am able to sit up front in order to be able to hear the Imam and this hasn’t been any issue before. We currently do not have hired sign language interpreters for the mosque.
    As far as men and women being separated in religious settings, that actually started way before Islam. Hinduism is the oldest major religion and they also separate the genders during yoga sessions, worship, and listening to the Sermon. Even synagogues have also kept this tradition as well as women wearing headscarfs during prayer, and at it’d most holiest site: The Wailing Wall in the Holy Land. Women must cover modestly and they have their own entrance with a dividing gate near the Wall itself. Everyone knows that’s just how traditional practices are done to this day. some churches still keep to this tradition also. The Catholic Church also had separation until the 80’s maybe a little earlier as several aspects of Mass was changed including the use of the language of the congregation rather then Latin only. But in Islam, outsiders tend to think we are "suppressed" and told what to do by men and that men "cannot control their sexual desires" and so we must be separated. I have never noticed any men try to walk towards the women’s area to chat with any of us nor speak directly with us as some of us are still praying, doing Zikr, reading Qur’an etc. men and women do socialize out front of the mosque after prayer and there hasn’t been any issues brought to the congregation’s attention regarding this topic. Many religious centers/churches/synagogues/mosques separated men and women still to this day and is common knowledge. Eid/celebrations or holidays are usually not separated though. Ramadan is s out to come up next month which I look forward too, Subhan Allah. Wa-llahu akbar. Peace be upon everyone no matter faith tradition or gender. As-Salamu-Alaikum! -Crystal/Sr. Najma.

      @Kam Skylight Muhammad hurt Aisha, and he laughed when Aisha and Hafsa were punched by their fathers in front of him. @@toomanymarys7355 The Arabic word Dharaba doesn't mean to beat. Besides, Quran doesn't explicitly say to beat them senselessly like you people think and on the top of that, it is at the final resort. You think like that because you just need a reason to reject Islam. since your bible filled with brutality and violence not just against women, Infants, babies even animals are not left.

    • @blackdqen
      @blackdqen Před 2 lety

      @@dreamdream963 so the standard is only not to beat senselessly? Why not 'don't beat at all'? Anyway, Old Testament is there to show the People of the Book as they were before. The New Testament allows no such thing and no violence of any kind, whether between man and wife, nor man against man. You would however have to read the New Testament to understand why it supersedes the Old Testament - and centrally, it's because Jesus says so.
      Jesus said, if a man beats your cheek, you turn the other way and offer up your other cheek. It is about tolerance, never reacting in anger. Ephesians 5:25-29 - Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.
      For a true Christian the "church" is both an equivalence to the ummah (in Islam), and a physical manifestation of faith itself. It is commanded to love and be tender with your one wife. All other verses in the NT all talk about spouses caring for one another, loving each other - although, yes, wives are supposed to obey their husbands. There are no verses on ever raising a hand toward her. There is no room to interpret that violence against your wife is at all permissible. So not sure where you get off thinking that violence (especially between spouses) is permissible under the Bible. Sorry I felt I needed to set that straight, no hatred toward you - but misconception about the Christian faith should not be a fuel for anyone validating their own Islamic faith.

      Aisha reported that Allah's Messenger, may Allah bless him, never beat anyone with his hand, neither a woman nor a servant, but only, in the case when he had been fighting in the cause of Allah …” (Sahih Muslim, Hadith 4296)
      Tafsir Ibn Kathir, chapter 68:
      Imam Ahmad recorded that `A’ishah said, “The Messenger of Allah never struck a servant of his with his hand, nor did he ever hit a woman. He never hit anything with his hand, except for when he was fighting Jihad in the cause of Allah
      Narrated Mu'awiyah al-Qushayri: "I went to the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) and asked him: What do you say (command) about our wives? He replied: Give them food what you have for yourself, and clothe them by which you clothe yourself, and do not beat them, and do not revile them. (Sunan Abu-Dawud, Book 11, Marriage (Kitab Al-Nikah), Number 2139)"
      I can quote more authetic ahadith and how companinons of Prophet(peace_be_upon_him) interpret that verse all said the same thing do not beat your wives.
      Coming to your Bible, offer the other cheek this has nothing to do wtih the married couple, its a general statement. What i said was 'misconception'? let's see. Your Bible specifically cruel to women from the very beginning, For example Eve, because of Eve, now all women are suffering in child bearing. Deut 22 if the woman proven not to be virgin, one must kill her. Psalsm 137 Dashed the babies against the rock. 1Sameul 3 Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy everything that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys. Now, i know what you gonna say this is all in old testament, not in the NT, but dude this is your God who wants to dash babies, even animals, what kind of God is He? You worship that God who at least once commanded to dash infants against the rock. Regardless whether its NT OR OT your God still the same. Now coming to Jesus, Your Jesus called Gentile Woman a dog. Paul used to believe that man who remained unmarried is more purer than one who was defiled by a woman or in other words got married. Even in the Revelation 14:4 you can find the same quote. Your Bible is degrading women from the Eve itself, i could go on like this, but this comment is already huge. ROFL!
