- Mario Party is one of the most beloved multiplayer game series ever to come out from Nintendo. However Nintendo had decided to shake things up a bit when the ninth mainline entry came out, completely changing up the gameplay that most fans had come to love from the series. Nowadays Mario Party 9 is seen in a negative light, with many pointing it out as the beginning of the downfall for the series as well as one of the worst Mario Party games ever made. But is the negative reception for the game warranted or was Mario Party 9 a good game treated poorly for being different? Join me as we answer the question...

Mario Party 9 will always have a place in my heart. I got it during my childhood and it was a lot of fun. Also the Tough Enemy is such as bop especially after the boss goes to half health and it goes faster.
The track when most minibosses are at half health is called "Now You've Done It."
Mario Party 9 and 10 are two of the most underrated games ever

I’m gonna be honest, the single best part of the game for me is its music.
It easily has my favourite ost in the series, and it heightens the overall presentation so much.
It’s the thing I remember the most fondly from the whole game, with it being the first Mario Party I ever played actually.
You should make a followup video talking about the game when there are real people playing with you instead of just CPUs, because when I play MP9 with my family we all have a blast with it.

As mediocre as mp9 may be it's still got a soft place in my heart during my childhood, but screw that last perspective game the bobsled penguins were impossible

Mario Party 9 is the first ever mario game that made me discover this franchise, i used to watch no comentary playthroughs of this at my school's library computer. Not the best introduction, but not the worse either.
This game is definitely better, for when you and the boys, don't feel like ruining eachothers days, some aspects of the game could of just been polished out better.
The NSMB Wii version of Mario party. Literally everything is stripped from that game

MP9 holds a special place in my heart. It’s not perfect, but it’s one game that I truly think now it’s too overhated by many. It tries to be something new, and to give its credit, it does it decently. The board are kinda mid, but the minigames slaps, the OSTs goes unironically chard af, and the visuals are gorgeous. This was the game we’re the team really improve on the motion controls compare to 8, and I’ll take. 9 is a solid game, and I’ll stand by it. Great video, and it’s nice to see someone like you defend this game
this game made my childhood perfect. i wached that 100 mil wiews video over and over again and always wanted to try it. ten years later (2024) i got wii and my second game after wii sports was mp9, and yes this game is better than mp superstar that my friend has. i just somehow think the mario party9 have the most progress to do. and shop (the museum) affect the gameplay, but mp superstars have just boring info about enemies. over all mp9 is my most favorite mario party ever
When I played MP9 for the 1st time 2 yrs ago i really enjoyed it I liked the idea of everyone in a car makes the games go a little bit faster, my favorite part of the game was the mini games i liked almost all the mini games which is very surprising for a mario party game for me, I really liked the boss battles in the game my only issue with the game was the lack of items for the player/cpus to use but besides that its a very fun game,my absolute favorite game is mario party ds nostalgia reasons love the video 💯🔥
Thanks for the content!! So, the first Mario Party game I ever played was Mario Party 10....and, I have to say, I LOVED it! It was so much fun to play with the wife and kids! Then I found MP9 and I loved it too! I had no idea that many people hated these games. I understand why people were disappointed, but I can't help but love these games! The way I see Mario Party 9 and 10 is as a "different take" on the MP series. And now that I've played the N64, GC, Wii, DS, 3DS, and Nintendo Switch MP games I have to say, I have never not had a ton of fun with any MP game. I think MP9 and 10 are loads of fun! First, the mini games are solid! Motion control only makes them wakier! Second, the mini bosses are so much fun!! Third, while the boards are linear, they also have some strategy. You can really screw each other over or get ahead if you happen to have the right dice. If you ask me, these games are solid and a great time with friends and family! They may not be the best in the series, but they still have a special place in my heart and I always have too much fun playing them! One thing I've noticed about some (not all) gamers who review games on CZcams is that they praise very mediocre games that leave me scratching my head, and then jump on the hate bandwagon. Don't get me wrong I love every MP game in the series. If Nintendo released a Mega MP1-8 remastered collection I would be the first to be willing to pay $500 for it! But, it does make me wonder if there is a lot of confirmation bias, having the right opinion or fear of the fan base going on...
The downfall of the series?
Bruh, had they even played 7 and 8 when they were the most recent entries at the time?
No Chance Time, long and annoying animations, no longer dueling when landing on the same spaces during the last 5 turns, stupid ways to set duel wages, etc.
9 was frankly a breath of fresh air for me.
Don't get me wrong, I love that the series is going back to its roots, but I'll be damned if I ever choose to play 7 (maybe) or 8 over 9.

personally, the only motion control game from mp8 that I didn't like was flip the chimp, I liked the rest of them

what about infinite dolphin island?
i had curiously wanted to play mp9 seeing as i had seen gameplay over it throughout 2014-2015ish(?). based on what i had saw, i thought it was pretty fun at the time. after playing it in dolphin (since i never owned it physically even though ive wanted it) about 2 years ago, i can confidently say it's a decent enough game in my personal opinion. it obviously has a lot of flaws, but i think it's worth checking out just for the interesting playstyle it has
I don't care about the reception, I just like all of them.
A guilty pleasure for me, I still think this game is really fun, tho Obviously the older games are still better, especially the GameCube era games

This game is…… if I’m being fair, it’s a great single player experience. If you want a fun multiplayer experience, don’t buy or install this game.
Unpopular Opinion: I prefer this game over Mario Party 1, still weaker than every other classic Mario Party game.
That aside, man, was 2012 such a weird year for Mario games, we got this, a Mario Tennis on 3DS, 2 New Super Mario Bros. games and that one Paper Mario game everyone hates...
If I had a nickel every time a Mario spinoff changed the style and formula of their respective series, getting a good amount of hate from fans and both released on the same year, I would've 2 nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice, right...
