It's usually recommend to bleach the rest of your hair because when only bleaching one side the other will grown faster than the other side, it will also have a different texture, if you don't mind getting a haircut more often this is fine but just a heads up that after a while it will grow unsymmetrical

It isn’t possible to give you a set time it takes for the bleach to develop, as development time depends on the start point of your hair, meaning the colour level of your hair and its healthiness. Therefore the development time for this particular client will be completely different for another. When getting your hair bleached by a professional they will make sure to regularly check the development process as well as the health of your hair to ensure your hair doesn’t get damaged and develops to your desired colour. Bleaching hair without a professional could cause irreversible damage, including leaving your hair with brittle strands and hair loss.
