I was at the track today. Kimi and Jensen were out there competing, no shame. Given more time in the seat on the various tracks those guys would be more competitive for sure. Had fun watching them run for a couple hours.
I've heard Kimi say more here than in 20 year at F1.
I felt the same way. I think he's happier?
A true racer having fun in retirement.
What I don’t understand is it’s yay Kimi is racing but boo JJ Is back he should stay retired
@@dedo7326 I can't judge them for doing what they want.
@@dedo7326 Yeah I don't like that either because both are legends and should just do what they want now. Nascar, Le Mans, maybe Indycar. Just like Alonso a few years ago. ✌🏼 Of course for Jimmie it's a bit different but still
@@dedo7326 He's doing to get ready for the garage 56 entry at le-mans this year, they taking a modified Nascar to race there.
Who remembers him walking to the yacht in 2006 at Monaco to get a drink? Priceless
Give kimi credit least he finished given the chaos in OTs
Corey Lajoie went from 2 laps down to 11th. And that's why I love NASCAR, especially at road courses in comparison to F1. You won't see that kind of recovery. I wish Fox would take some notes from Sky Sports in terms of broadcasting though.
@@Ericsaidful agree also impressive from all madness he can finish close to top 10 and if Lajoie can finish well like that then playoffs is possible
Kimi ALMOST got a Top 10 until that chaos. I’d make him a sleeper pick for a win if he does more
@@IrvinAlvarado44 LaJoie's average finish after COTA is 15.0, which, out of the full time drivers, is 11th best. If he maintains that kind of form, he's easily got his best chance at the playoffs yet.
@@wheresaldocanoe I watched him win the modified race at Martinsville last year. I think they have another 3 or 4 years before they peak, Lajoie can drive. He always gets 5 to 10 positions higher than the car is capable with.
The longest he's ever talked... He's matured
He's come home, can see him doing this for real
@@donitsi6095 WHat do you mean "for real"> He's done two races now
By "matured" you mean paid?
@@barrymckockinner8476 Four races if you count his truck and xfinity start he had a decade ago and those were on ovals. I'd love to see Kimi do some more stock car racing.
Kimi is a lot more relaxed out of the Piranha club. Dude is a racer, he doesn’t care for the fluff. Will race anything that’s given to him. His son is also just getting started in Karts.
Love seeing Kimi in Nascar. He's racing royalty and a joy to watch
Just for being a former Ferrari F1 champ he never will have to pay for the first round of alcohol in Italy.
Kimi was up to ninth at one point, I hope we see him at Sonoma and Chicago and maybe both at the Glen and the Roval
@@karkule5919 I think Kimi is having fun in the stock cars
He was at 4th and was unlucky after the restart with 10 laps to go
@@hudsonm360 Unlucky? He has way older tires and less fuel than everyone else.
@@liltwizz_07 I mean the mess into t1, really hilarious outing for nascar completely ignoring any and all sportsmanship and track limits
@@hudsonm360 Yeah you're an F1 fan, so I would understand how you have no idea how the hell NASCAR works.
Got to love Kimi!
Hard to hear Kimi over the Track PA
He and Jimmie Johnson will always be a racers
And Kevin Harvick too him and Johnson are the NR2003 cover athletes.
I was so happy to see he finished & glad to see him enjoying himself.
I have been an F1 fan since I was a child. I'm old now, so it's a long time. In recent years, this "rave" atmosphere during the race weekend ruins the entire experience. They have these horrible "DJs" playing music so loud you can't even hear the track announcers. On top of the super loud garbage (unce unce unce) music you have the "DJ" yelling so loud it comes through the speakers sounding exactly like what you hear in this video. Incomprehensible garbage. BTW getting Kimi to do an interview while drenched in sweat is impressive.
That definitely varies depending on what race you go to. Idk what COTA was like, but at the Ambetter 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, they had all that dj stuff, but when it was time to race, they shut up. I agree it can get obnoxious hearing a dj play loud music when you’re trying to focus on what’s happening in the race
That garbage and the morons that jump around pumping it out, seem to be standard everywhere you go. Nobody wants any of it.
They kinda did him dirty this race, especially with that wreckfest at the end. Even with a broken diffuser for the whole race he would have finished in the top 20 alongside Button had he not been spun (again) under yellow and then told to give up 10 positions for some reason by NASCAR before being hit with another 30 second penalty after the race.
wtf
Who is "they"? Everyone dealt with the same circumstances.
Corey Lajoie cut the course in the S's, had to do a pass through, sped on the pass through, had a broken diffuser, and came back from 2 laps down to finish 11th in a low budget car.
So...
Kimi got a penalty? Do you have more info on this?
These races are demolition derby’s what do you expect? Nascar listened to the fans and this is what you get. Bumper cars around a track that isn’t meant for stock car racing.
kimi smiling while he has an interview and uses more than two words, this is amazing XD
Great to see Kimi at COTA in a Nascar - never head him answer so many questions in one interview before 😜
It would be nice if the track announcers would give it a rest at the end of a race. They need to give some respect to those actually down in pit lane and around the track.
Absolutely - post race discussion, fine, but why is this clown shouting in to the microphone?
They are talking to the fans who paid money to show up at the track. A lot of money.
@@garyjackson3531 That's nice, good for them. I've been to 2 F1 races at COTA, and a fair number of races at TMS, and crewed for a team at TWS. The race was over - they can still show a little respect - the stands were practically empty by that time.
Really would like to see him do a race in Indycar too
Maybe AMS could hook him up with a race?
Go Kimi go we love you
It shows that these NASCAR drivers really are talented, to be able to keep a road racing legend like Kimi at bay. Obviously, he doesn't race stock cars, but the point still stands.
I think Kimi said it best. Too much luck involved. Nascar has become a shitshow. They wanted bumper cars.... well they got it.
Can you add subtitles? It's hard to hear him with his accent over the PA announcer.
I hope Kimi does come back
Look at AJs car after he wins. His car is usually pristine .
who was that in the end walking up saying its an honor to race you? Sounds like bowman or reddick
Iceman swetting
*sweating*
Hot in Central Texas and unseasonably humid.
Well, looks like Iceman is not so cool anymore, he's turning into Waterman with all that swetting.
It's just the humidity trying to pierce the icy surface from outside. Not a chance it'd success. Kimi doesn't even notice.
I see Cup as a iroc series. Same cars but tweekable by the teams and a variety of drivers and tracks.
I really want to see Lewis Hamilton in a Cup car one day!
I'm not saying he will win the race but he'll get to see how cutthroat the Cup Series is compared to F-1 and I'm not saying F-1 isn't cutthroat...lol
COTA is a wonderful track for racing!
There are only 20 spots in F1 compared to 36-40 in NASCAR. That is why it is cutthroat.
@@ethanweeter2732 I think it has a little more to do with the money involved...lol
F-1 drivers don't have to race American drivers, so the playing field is kind of slanted...lol
Interviewing 101 - get the mic closer than the camera.
Need more of Kimi in Nascar instead of all the crybabies and their scripted fights and dumping each other ater every checker
Kimmy is awful...
@@marshalljimduncan ok Mario awful racecar drivers don't race and win Championships in f1.i believe it was his first Nascar Race? He's middle aged now he probably will never win in Nascar but he won't give us the Obligatory walling of the other drivers and scripted fights that has even Dale rolling overcinchis grave about
The Ice Man seemed uncharacteristically knackered, and he had reason to be. That race was absolutely buck nutty! Truly survival of the fittest. Great interview.
Get a decent mic if you are going to do this.
He had a fun little shoving match with Denny around lap 60 or so
He said more in 3 minutes here than his whole career in F1. PS no Kimi you may not have the cool jacket
Shame about all the noise in the background of the video.
"boaw, you camera too close, man"
Wow... Kimi can do an interview lol
I wonder where he would have ended up when he started p4 before all those restarts
Thanks for the video!
In my eyes Kimi was a winner! Nascar car get pretty pushy and he held his own very well considering his experience in these cars!!
education on real racing for f1 drivers
Clicked on this just to see if Kimi actually had three minutes worth of talking 😂
The Iceman will get the drink now
gimi!
it would be nice to hear what he's saying...that PA was obnoxious
bwoah
Stay in your lane, guy!
He didn't want to say anything in Finnish 😂
He wears his sunglasses at night.
Who
he was doing better at the glen, until his got run into
Thats one scary looking bloke to the side of him.
The Interviewer should know how to filter out back noise, couldn’t understand a damn thing,Kimi is hard to understand to begin with ,most words he said in 20 years
Kimi sounds physically and mentally used up. But kudos for trying stock car racing!
He's been like this since I remember, i.e. since he started 20+ years ago...
exhausted? 😂 he retired a year and a half ago and it seems he never stopped, he spoke more in this interview than in 20 years of F1 ..
Tried trucks- went home with tail between his legs. Tried cup twice, same result. These are real race cars, 3400#, you have to shift them yourself, and the brakes fade fast. No running around in a hi tech slot car that does all but steer for you with no one around. Here you run 5 hours with guys in front, behind and on either side every minute.
"James Brickey Well, I have championship trophies in Sports cars, formula cars, sports racing cars and stock cars, so I know what it's like to race in all those series. What dost thou have?"
Anyone can make any claim about anything, and you could have a Ph.D. in quantum physics and simultaneously be an absolute idiot. So what's your point champ?
You're either a troll or extremely limited.
"THESE ARE REAL RACE CARS BAH GAWD! 3400# BAH GAWD!"
the sport is the sport, and the competition is real in both. F1 cars don't drive themselves. and people running over people, spinning them out or bumping the into the gravel pit is not a form of racing, unless you call bumper cars racing. If it wasn't interesting they wouldn't come. they are openminded, maybe you could be as well? oh, and brake fade was a thing in the old cars....
Post-SVG victory in Chicago.
AHHHHAHAHAHAHA! Loser!
Crash On Track Always...what a fucking joke NA$CAR has become.
Kimi always with that stiff upper lip
What's all the stupid yelling in the background?
hope to see Kimi again soon. and stop asking him to speak fininnish....fuck
I'm shocked how a great f1 driver ends up driving in circles ..
Lol funny how F1 drivers are supposed to be the best yet can barely crack off a top 20 nascar finish.
They're use to racing cars not people
Dude I hate seeing dumb comments people towards nascar so I gotta call out this dumb comment too
Stupid comment
Put any NASCAR driver in a F1 race and it would be the most embarrassing race of their life!
@@RowingFrontal5 legit, cant people just like motorsports as a whole?
