- DISCLAIMER: This is kind of outdated and has quite a bit of inconsistencies. This is being remade, so for the time being this is fine enough I guess.
Vs. Overworld from New Super Mario Bros. DS, restored to its highest possible quality using the original instrument samples (where applicable/possible).

you either love or hate it (personally i love it)
There's not nearly enough vibrato and decay on the lead instruments / accompaniment. Attentively compare the sustained square lead at 0:21-0:22 with the original and you'll hear what I mean. Also, the E-Piano / Honkey Tonk at the beginning sounds hollow on my speakers.
By lead instruments, do you mean the Trumpet Ensemble? If so, after comparing the original track and mine, I can't really hear much of the difference. The decay could be slightly off, can't tell too much, but I hear absolutely no vibrato on the original track whatsoever.
Though I do see what you mean about the square lead, as I do hear a difference with the delay and vibrato which is actually present in the original track. The process I use to make these restoration usually uses a program such as VGMTrans, which is the case for this video. Although VGMTrans does a great job at ripping a usable MIDI and DLS file, when opening it with a program such as FL Studio, which I use for all my restorations, the pitch shifting is misinterpreted and the levels aren't exactly the same as the original track.
This has happened many times with other restorations, and I either have to manually add vibrato using LFO, or recreate pitch shifts by ear (For example, the whistle at the end of the track was broken, and I had to manually set the pitches by ear.) Looks like I didn't catch the pitch shifting on the square lead.)
The E. Piano in the start of the track is a little off unfortunately (this is something I had already noticed when making this restoration), as I can't find a high quality sample that sounds *exactly* the same, but only close. The E. Piano used is the Roland JD-800/990 Crystal Rhodes, which is used in many Mario games (most notably Super Mario 64), so I assumed it was also used here, as a lot of the instruments in this track, as well as other tracks from this game, are also used in Super Mario 64. Not sure what you mean by sounding hollow on your speakers, that could just be an issue with your speakers or a difference in EQ tuning (can't remember the correct term so that'll do.)
TL;DR: Woopsie daisy, I screwed up but it wasn't fully my fault.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll be going back into the project file and correctly changing and fine tuning any errors that I find, and will post a v2 when I'm done.
One of the descriptions of all time.
You heard it here first, folks.
@@splodesvault indeed. Also this is a great restoration, saved it to my playlist
Can you do the Overworld Theme?
Had one planned and nearly ready for release before my SSD broke, but I'm always up to redo it so don't be surprised when one comes out!
