Cadillac making a UK come-back with the LYRIQ - Electric premium SUV to rival the BMW iX (Review)

- This week I'm in Cannes driving the LYRIQ, Cadillacs first electric car that they have launched in Europe. Will this classically HUGE American EV make sense to a UK market? They're certainly leaving no stone over-turned.

This is a re-upload! 🥹 The last video that I was editing until 3am was all out of sync! Please do re-watch and re-share your thoughts on the LYRIQ!
I’m glad that Cadillac will be returning to the UK. I hope they’ll also return to the Central Eastern European countries.
So am I ☺️ I’m sure that will all depend on it’s popularity!
Cadillac does alright in those countries and France, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands, as an exclusive and unique offering, but Cadillac has never done well in the UK for some reason.. central and Western Europe likes Cadillac but the company has never done much to improve their presence in the uk.
We own a 2023 Debut Edition here in North Carolina USA. My wife and I both agree. It is the nicest car we have ever owned. Thx for the video. I enjoyed watching.
Great video and a great car.. I hate all the safety the safety systems on my Lexus. I get in and turn them all off they are pointless in my view. My insurance hasn’t gone down because of all the pointless safety restrictions. If this car comes to the UK I will be looking at it when I am due to change. Thanks again for a great review.
The "bum vibration" can be changed in Settings > Vehicle > Collision/Detection systems. You can choose audible alert or seat vibration.
Pretty cool to see more American brands coming to the UK hopefully. Lets hope they do better than what Chevy and Chrysler did several years ago!
Makes a nice change considering the amount of chinese cars popping by which is getting a bit old.
Great video Tish!
Thank you so much! I really was almost odd to try a new product that didn’t just feel ‘cheap and functional’ proper old school American luxury. It’s expensive but I can see the luxury car buyer loving it!
I can't believe I love this Cadillac but I do!?! Well apart from the blue leather?? It's amazing 😊
I totally agree….. I kind of hate that I love it but it’s a really nice car!
Very intriguing! I’m just glad it’s something unique, anything German has completely lost its way in design, quality and price.
Yep, they're lost beyond return some of them!
What an excellent video on a new car Trish, research, camera work, delivery - 5 star! Thank you
You were right when you said it hides its size well. It has a very assured, rather than arrogant look. The rear upper section put me in mind of a Jenson Interceptor tail gate.
You're right, it's big and assertive whilst still managing to look a little elegant. Tough job!
The Cadillac Lyric is coming to Australia and New Zealand. Cadillac have a local website in Aus. A Tish said, the Lyric is something new a different. Genuinely different. How refreshing.😊😊😊
I really wasn't expecting to like it. In the UK we're taught to revolt against anything American but I can't argue, it's a very good car!
Great video yet again well done tish
Amazing to see this video 🚀 Great stuff!
Thank you 🙌
Cadillac " people dont really use a front boot on an Ev"
Ev owner " the front boot (in our 2024 kona ev) is the perfect place for both 7kw and granny charger and tyre pump and gloop"
Cadillac " we have made a deep space under the boot floor"
Ev owner" brilliant, car is full of luggage, its raining and i need to charge"
Your presentation skills are amazing! Much nicer than the shouty, crude style of CZcams reviewing that’s become common now.
We haven't said anything about the UK...😉 Awesome Review! ⚡
Come on…you guys know how many luxury EVs the UK buys. Without question one of they key European markets to tap into.
great video tish love your new car reviews , ps love your jeans great fashion
Glad you like them!
Love Tish's videos as she is always so cheerful. 😊
😊 thank you
Impressive, massive SUV. Love that dashboard.
Oh my god! I’ve been saying for the last two yrs I love this car and am completely shocked it’s on this channel ❤
Hi Tish nice video 😊
Thank you 😊
There's no "hiding its size" when it comes to American brands. What you see is what you get. Right off the bat: the style. When compared to its sworn enemy, the BMW iX, the Lyriq stands out in such a unique way. Love the LEDs from front to back. Love the overall sleekness of those body lines to give it a sporty look. Technology is superb in this car, but its one downfall is overall range. That's where the iX comes out on top. So that's gonna be the dilemma for customers. Will they go for style by choosing the Lyriq, or will they prefer substance and superior range coming from the BMW iX? Two highly competitive and fully electric luxury SUVs but only one will prevail. Great review. Thumbs up.
The battery of the BMW iX xDrive 50 has a total capacity of 111.5 kWh. The usable capacity is 105.2 kWh. An estimated range of about 315 miles is achievable on a fully charged battery.... I would say they're pretty evenly pegged!
The Lyriq is a nice car that mustn‘t be underestimated. I hope that Cadillac will successfully come back to the European market. Right now I am driving a Jaguar I-Pace. As Jaguar hasn‘t come out with a more modern fully electric car the Lyriq might be my next EV! 👍
Cheers Tish
Cheers!
I thought Cadillac's were long sedan's...? 😉 Still looks nice as a SUV though, especially the interior. Not sure I would would buy one as it would be too big for my needs.
Crazy how much this will potentially cost in the uk as its only $55,000 and up in the usa with the top spec aprox $64,000
Interior is decent but the rest is yuk. And it’s huge, at 5m long that will take up a one and a half parking spots on the high street. People will love that!
Hi, Tish 💙
Nothing says Eco like massive, electric SUV. So good for planet Earth
Mmmm yeah bum seat vibration for £75k I’m sold 😂😂
US Lyriq owner here: You get used to it very quickly, and I'm sure they've made it work the same as it does in the US. Brake alert shakes the whole seat, blind spot alert (traffic coming up on you from the rear) shakes the side of the seat you should focus on. Once you get used to the idea of your car grabbing your butt, it's intuitive.
quite a cool electric car...bit different
Right? Nice to see alternatives
In France, but why is the car fitted with swedish plates? ”S” means Sweden. 🇸🇪
Cadillac Europe (formerly General Motors Switzerland S.A.) is the Swiss subsidiary of US-based company General Motors that imports and commercialises Cadillac vehicles for 25 countries across Europe.
@@AutoSocialUK Swiss? you mean swedish? 😁
These beauties are on loan from Sweden! Our French plate cars are all busy being test driven 😍
I don’t particularly like it Tish. Big and bland in my opinion. Good review as always.
Should have had hybrid options
Evening Tish
Good evening!! ☺️
@@AutoSocialUK 😉
I like it. Tge dash loojs kinda cheap do. How did the Dash feel tish cheap or nice?
I don't think it will ever come to little Ireland do. Have never seen a single modern Cadilliac in Ireland only old 60s and 70s American left hand drive ones.
But yet I have seen the odd Infinite saloon here and even a Genesis here.
Just think the market here is too small for an expensive car like this with no back up and with unknown relibility and resale value. Too much of a risk unfortunately.
It would be great to be more affordable
I agree, although I think they're leaving the affordable to the Chinese brands which I think makes sense.
@@AutoSocialUK Yes I agree but if you think about it more people need cheap cars than Rich people need expensive cars
Exciting new addition..Shame it’s electric only ….great job on the review👍
I think it's near impossible to get a new car into Europe nowadays unless it's electric unfortunately.
So, Cadillac or EV9?
This cadillac brand will never succeed in the UK. Who at General Motors thought this re-entry back in Europe will ever work after they dumped the Vauxhall/Chevrolet vehicle brands and sold Vauxhall/Opel off to Peugeot Group of companies and basically abandoned the UK dealer network .Remember the Vauxhall Sintra suv imported from America it was a complete failure over here not least because of its poor safety ratings and GM have made so many poor decisions over the years Saab for example which they tried to take over and turn them into a GM product which ended badly and the fact that they almost went bankrupt not too long ago. Cannot see any UK car dealer network wanting to risk taking on this product when in a few years time when sales of this massive vehicle do not meet the expected targets and GM once again pull the plug!
This car obviously made for just U.S. consumers, no European specs that I know of.
9:59 ugh I’m sorry but when did we put these horrid pressures on car reviewers to include “Genesis,” an uncultured, newcomer from Hyundai, in the equation when speaking of the likes of Cadillac or BMW? Ehhh. I’m just not a fan. I like the real deal, and that means heritage and Motorsports pedigrees
I’m not a luxury car reviewer, never have been, never will. I drive all sorts of cars and that dilutes any pedigree a badge has for me. At one time buying BMW or Mercedes meant you was getting quality…. Now you’re just getting an overpriced badge. This car does have a lot in common with the styling of Genesis, hence brining it up.
A Callilac???
Yep! A Cadillac!
Callilac, as in the video's thumbnail.
Right, I’m with you now. I’m Dyslexic so often these things happen. Changed now
Exterior is terrible looking, apart from the front bumper. Interior and that colour trim is stunning. Definitely genesis vibes.
Totally agree! Although I liked it much better in person from the outside. The interior is EVEN better, it’s so pretty!
@@AutoSocialUK good 👍🏾 review in any case!
I would be the opposite. I think the exterior looks great certainly a lot nicer than a BMW iX but that dash just looks cheap and dull but at least they got the screen right unlike Peugeot in there new 3008 and 5008.
Coming to Australia too, will be a total flop here, frankly they deserve it after GM killed off iconic Aussie Holden brand, further Cadillac has zero history here and mostly unknown.
Glad to see you didn't get wet for this one Tish. Thats a very expensive ugly looking milk float. Come on Caddy just put a burbling V6 or V8 in it and stop messing about with the silly nonsense they are all doing now.
They can do it in America but they just would be able to sell V6 or 8's in Europe. They'd be fined for everyone they sold!
Move to America if that's what you just be werry of gun tooting maniacs.
